How do you run multiple instances in OS X? Like I'm using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client and I want to connect to multiple machines at the same time, but I can't. It only opens once. In Windows XP, I can open multiple terminal sessions and multiple notepad windows at the same time.
Is there some key combination + mouse click to start a new instance?
I am used to having graphic files on my desktop, when editing one I would simply right-click and pick "open with" > Photoshop (which is always open in its own desktop in my computer). Now out of the blue, if I do that, it loads another instance of Photoshop, which is certainly what I don't want. I can have 2, 3, 4 Photoshops running at the same time and editing the same image!
I searched but all I could find is people wanting the opposite i.e. opening multiple instances of the same app.

Is there any way to bring up multiple instances of Safari, each one with a completely independent cookie database? I have several Gmail accounts, and I want to simultaneously log in to all of them in different browser windows. However, since Safari manages a central cookie database, I can't log into one of these Gmail accounts without signing out from another. With separate Safari instances that maintain separate cookie databases, I could simultaneously keep multiple Gmail windows open.

I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
Without having to open multiple windows? Specifically trying to get some notes I downloaded in order.

So, I found the file under applications and drug it to the trash thinking it was gone. Well it wasn't. Now every time I plug in my ipod it pops up "Sync alert". It wants me to sync my ipod with it but I don't want to. I don't even remember what the program is called, but it does not seem to be showing up in the finder or in the spotlight. I have a Blackbook, it's about 3 years old now and the fan speed has increased to a very high level. There aren't any programs running in the background, this just simply happens when I leave the computer on. I'm assuming it's because there is dust buildup on the internal parts, but it's odd that it progressed from being fine to the stat that it is in today in the matter of days. View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I to open Safari, over 80 windows open immediately. My homepages are two websties and I'll get probably 30 or so windows with my Home "pages" combination, and then another 50 of windows of sites I visted recently. If I proceed to close the windows out, Would reinstalling Safari work? Or does this look like a virus and should I just restore from my time machine backup? My most recent backup is roughly 1 week old and my external has not been connected since this began to happen. It's worth noting this only happens to Safari--Firefox works perfectly fine. No other odd behaviors (ie. system lag, program crashes, etc.) have appeared.Â

I know that you can change the iTunes icon in the application's folder, but the real icon still appears in different places in iTunes, for example if you try and delete a song.

I am a music producer/composer and am frequently given reference music to work with. Additionally, I often go through several revisions of the tracks I work on. I would like to have two versions of itunes I could open...one with my music collection, and another one with all of my work related tracks in it.
Does anyone have some experience running multiple folder actions at the same time? I've written a Applescript folder action that processes some files. When adding some files, the script starts and all goes well. The processing of each file takes a few minutes, but all files are processed correctly. However, when adding some new files to the dropfolder, while the folder action is all ready processing other files dropped a few minutes earlier, the process that is all ready running immediately aborts and the folder action is relaunched on the new files, leaving the old files for what they are.The same problem occurs with multiple folders, each having a folder action attached. When dropping files in "Folder A", the script starts processing. But if someone droppes files in "Folder B", The script of folder A aborts, and the script of folder B starts processing. When adding more files to the folders, the result is the same. In some casses, when the last dropped files are processed, the os continues where the operation was aborted on the previous files. But this not always happens. To make things worse, when you remove the items from the folders afterwords, the folder actions starts running again on items no longer present in the folder ..Does anyone know how I can prevent the folder action being aborted when new files are dropped and placing the new files in "Hold", until the previous files are processed? How can I prevent a folder action being aborted when a item is dropped into another folder? I've written a small script to test this behaviour. Just create one or more folders and attach the script below. Drop a item into the folder, wait a few seconds and drop another one in the same or another folder. To monitor what happens please check the console. [code]

I just bought this program and I have two questiones so far that I could not find a answer. Anyways the first is every time I open the program it goes threw the setup every time even to the registration again and putting in my keychain password like installing a new program, did I not install it right ? Second I have the program open now and I choose a folder to open were my movies are and I could here the computer serching for the cd in the drive and the little wheel just spins untill I put the cd in the drive, does this program only work with the cd in the drive ?

Under OSX 10.9.3 why can't I delete single instances of a recurring event as I could before upgrading to Mavericks. Now they just come right back.

In Terminal, if I go to Preferences->Settings->Advanced, there's a pane that has literally hundreds of instances of setting configurations, numbered sequentially. Apparently, every time I start up Terminal by selecting a [something].terminal file, another one of these setting instances gets created.
Is there any way to prevent these from being created every time I start another Terminal session in this way?
So with the whole Flashback/Flashfake thing I paniced (stupid on my part) ran a virus program called VirusBarrier Express and ran CCleaner (again, stupid me). Hoping I would clear off unused or harmful files I apparently in the process messed up my context menu. Items that were previously in the context menu are now gone. I did as much reading about possible fixes as I could and this is where everything stands.Â
Not every item in the image below was at the botton of the context menu, but iPack certainly was as well as various other menu items that have since dissapeared.Â
While searching the internet I came across a suggestion leading me to "library/Contextual Menu Items" and when I followed that directory for both my user and system I couldn't find a Contextual Menu Items folder. There wasn't any. I've had this "missing file/folder" problem before with preference files; just a side note.Â
I created the folder manually and restarted with no change at all.Â
Obviously I accidentally deleted something that shouldn't have been deleted. Is there any way to get back those missing items?Â
