Safari :: It Opens Numerous Windows Upon Running Program
May 13, 2012
Whenever I to open Safari, over 80 windows open immediately. My homepages are two websties and I'll get probably 30 or so windows with my Home "pages" combination, and then another 50 of windows of sites I visted recently. If I proceed to close the windows out, Would reinstalling Safari work? Or does this look like a virus and should I just restore from my time machine backup? My most recent backup is roughly 1 week old and my external has not been connected since this began to happen. It's worth noting this only happens to Safari--Firefox works perfectly fine. No other odd behaviors (ie. system lag, program crashes, etc.) have appeared.Â
I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
When I open safari it opens multiple windows (260 to be exact) all of the same website and causing a temporary freeze of my computer. Then safari crashes and I have to force quit. Any suggestions? I have already unchecked restore windows in my system preferences.
I have installed windows xp pro through fusion 2 in my 15' macbook pro, the memory it gets shared is 512mb and the hard drive gets 40GB. Is it enough to run accounting and office softwares with total satisfaction? Secondly, can I run windows compatible program through the use of fusion 2 without running windows os everytime? Does that way save power to extend power life? Additionally, I just found that the white background color of the accounting program really hurts my eyes. Is there certain ways to make white background color look moderate to the eyes?
There is lots of coverage regarding how to install software on crossover 8.0, but there is nothing that I can find regarding programs that require you simply to run them, without installation. I try and click them, and for less than a second, an image bounces above the crossover icon, but then it stops.
About a month ago I upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion, but now there are some features that I had in Snow Leopard that I can't figure out how to change in Lion.I heavily relied on Spaces for opening my programs and more importantly, opening up certain programs in certain desktops. I was able to go into my System Preferences and choose which program I wanted to open up in which desktop in Spaces. Now that I have Lion (and Spaces is gone) certain programs still open up in certain desktops, but I don't want that feature anymore. Am I stuck with programs opening up in those selected desktops, or is there somewhere in my computer that I can go to change that?
How can I change the program my Mac opens when I start my laptop? My mac book Air opens Word and Skype automatically and I can´t seem to make not to do this.
Starting about a month ago Safari doesn't open website pdfs. It goes to a new tab/window and returns a black screen. My system is up to date with the latest updates for Apple products as well as for Adobe products. Is anyone else having this issue or know a solution. If I use Firefox it opens the pdf so I have to assume it is something with Safari.
Safari on both my desktop and my ipod wont open. It just says it's loading but never opens. Never displays any kind of error or message screen. My internet is working fine on firefox.
I am running os x7.3 on mac mini with safari 5.1.4.safari will not open to my "home page"..... I set the prefs. but it always opens to the last page I went to.
I use safari and I was trying to open a PDF file on my schools website. When the page came up (still in safari) it was blank. Why? I haven't changed anything that I know of.
Info: Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 2.2 ghz intel duo core processor
Suddenly everytime I open Safari, it opens along with a new desktop. So I can't put an application on top of it since the app would appear on the first desktop, get what I mean? So I can't chat with iChat while watching youtube, for example. How to open Safari on the first desktop instead?
I was unable to close safari and did the force quit and shut down my laptop. now everytime i open safari it opens multiple pages that i can onlt close all of them by selecting quit safari, and my pages don't always load right now.
For quite awhile now, nearly a year, I have not been able to connect to the iTunes store from iTunes, nor am I able to connect to we pages with Safari. I'm using Microsoft Windows. I've tried multiple web pages, and all of them do not open, leaving me with a blank white screen, and in the task bar at the bottom it will say "Contacting 'www.apple.com'". Also, these pages open in other browsers. What is wrong?
Starting a few days ago when I double click a folder on the desktop it no longer opens. Instead, I am taken to a new desktop window that shows the folder clicked plus all other items on the desktop. How do I restore the double click to open the folder? I have tried resetting the double click speed with no results.Â
i never made myself clear in last thread. safari opens with some junk look page and a dialogue box that is clearly junk/spam related. i am unable to reset it, or quit. Also i do not know how to reset safari to open with apple page. it will send junk to my mail contacts
Now that I have Lion, when I quit Safari and then reopen it, it opens in the last page I was on when I quit. I want it to reopen in the home page like it used to. In preferences I have "New windows open with" "Homepage" and "New Tabs open with" "Homepage."
When I turn on the computer, Safari automatically opens to [URL].... I know nothing about this site. I have, previously, set my Safari/Preferences to open to a different site. That used to work.Â
WORSE ... sometimes when turning on the computer, the screen gets stuck on the big wave open background. Only the very top toolbar for Finder opens. But Desktop icons do not appear. And the mouse is inoperable. I have to manually turn off the computer, turn it back on ... and then, sometimes (not sure how consistent this is), it automatically opens to Safari on that Trusteer website (that I have never, to my knowledge, accessed).Â
I took this problem once before to this community. Was given instructions to do a Safe Boot, which I did. It was not supposed to fix the problem. But after I did it, the problem seemed to go away... for a while. It's back now.Â
I also did a Disk Utility Repair of the HD.Â
I have not clicked on anything in that Trusteer page because I don't trust it. It looks legitimate. Is it?Â
This problem, by, the way, only began after I upgraded to Mavericks. I don't recall how long it was before the problem started after upgrading. Probably a couple of weeks.
whenever i opens firefox or safari an error window pops up(screen shot attached). When i try to buy products thru online webistes like amazon, ebay, apple etc ,Page type will suddenly change to an unfriendly html format/ cached type format. This happens when i surf thru check out page to the details of address/shipment details/payment details pages.eg :[URL]this wht happened when try to sign into apple store to buy a product. This page is next to the check out page.
As of today, Safari only opens links by bouncing them to the reading list. I have to go find them in there and click on them again to view the link. Why are the links not opening directly in the browser window, the way you'd expect? I haven't changed any prefs or anything like that. I'm on Lion.
i am having troubles with safari, i am not sure if it is a virus. For example i'm not using safari, but it open in a strange website. This is the link: [URL].Â
Every time I open Safari a little box opens and says:Â
Community ToolbarÂ
We’re sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar. How can I make this box stop coming up since I don't even know what it is. Can it be deleted?
