I'm new to mac I just moved to my mac mini 2 months ago. I move for the sole reason of using the Adobe CS4. However, I have now filled up my 80gb hard drive (mac mini) and want to move some files around. I have a large 1TB drive foe my mac (not a time machine a storage drive) and I was wondering if I could move the adobe applications from the application folder to a folder on the drive. I know on windows this would not be possible unless you uninstall and reinstall on the other drive. I have heard rumor that a application on a mac is the single e file in the application folder. Is moving the programs possible? Dose it depend on the programs I'm trying to move (cs4 master collection in my case)? If so is there any special "thing" I need to do?
I just got a second hand macbook pro which came with a full Adobe Suite. I very much want to keep all the programmes, but dont want them taking up space on my internal hard drive. Can I simply move them over to my 500GB external hard drive? Or would this damage the application? and would I be able to run them just the same from the external HD location?
I'm new to mac and looking for an application that is similar to the adobe acrobat professional. I need the program to scan forms and have the capabilit to insert text, graph from the scanned copy.
I've currently got an early 2009 iMac, 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM. How would a base 11.6" MacBook Air compare to my iMac, occasionally using Adobe CS5 applications for light work on PhotoShop, Premier Pro and After Effects? Or would I be better off waiting for the MacBook refresh for something more powerful?
When I enter spaces and move a window or dialogue of an application to a new space, it does not automatically move ALL windows of that app. This is frustrating and I end up having to move five or six windows to get the whole app into the new space. This is not the case with all apps, but it seems like spaces has problems with professional apps like Flash, Pro Toots, Photoshop -- it never moves all the little related dialogues and panels. Anyway to fix this other than to close the app and open it fresh in the new space?
When i updated from Lion to Mountain Lion I had my applications in two separate folders on the same Hardisk. One for my apps from Apple, and one for my downloaded apps. Now I want to move my downloaded apps back into the original application folder, but they just copies instead. Earlier i have just CMD dragged the application, but now, in mountain lion, this seems not to work anymore.
1) How do I move application windows between spaces from the keyboard? I know I can drag the window to the edge of the window and it'll go to the next space, but I don't like to use the mouse unless it's absolutely required.
2) When I restore a window into the current space, it automatically goes to the space the window originated from. How do I disable this? When I bring a window up from the dock, I want it to open in the space I am currently in.
3) When I open a new application window, it goes to the space where the last application window was located. This is annoying. How do I disable this? I want it to open in the current space, even if I was in another space the last time I had an application open in another space.
I just got my macbook and I am completely new to it. When I "drag" to application folder to install something does it completely move that file to that folder or does it make a copy of it. Because I don't want wasted space having the same file on my HDD. Can I delete the original spot of the filer without messing things up?
I have an annoying problem with application switching since I have upgraded to Mac OS Lion from Snow Leopard. Now switching between applications doesn't work as good as it was in Snow Leopard.
Right now I have Finder and Xcode opened. Xcode is assigned to only one specific Desktop and Finder is assigned to None. And when I am in Xcode for example and use Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, it deactivates my current window, but doesn't move to the space with Finder or makes Finder active. Then, I press Cmd-Tab again, and it makes Finder active (My top panel controls show Finder now) but I still stay in the space with Xcode. And further switching doesn't do anything. So I then need to manually to click on the Finder icon in the Dock. And the same is vice versa when switching from Finder to Xcode.Â
If I switch by clicking the Finder Dock icon it then works in two steps: first time it deactivates current window, and after second click it moves to Finder Desktop and makes Finder active.Â
Another issue is with Safari when I am in Fullscreen mode and have also Activity window opened. If I am in Finder and switch with Cmd-Tab to Safari, it just shows me the Activity window in the same Desktop no matter how many times I Cmd-Tab. To switch to Main Safari window I need to click on the Dock icon.If I switch only by clicking the Dock icon, then I again need to click it twice.Â
Option for moving to space with selected application in Preference Pane is switched on and Automatically rearrangement of last used applications as well.Â
I have set up my mom with an older Macbook Pro of mine to save her from the evils of the PC. I set up two users, one for her and one for me; hers is uber simple (big icons, only the essentials in the doc) mine is crazy complicated. We share apps, of course, which was fine until I realized she is going to want to download Mah Jongg game apps and the like from the App Store, and I would LOVE it if I didn't have to have all that cluttering up the root Applications folder. I already tried to move one app from root to her user's Applications folder and all that moved was an alias, the app stayed at root. So how does one move these things? Is there a way via the finder? Can I use terminal.
I've been having a few issues with "Adobe AIR Application installer" hogging my CPU all the time.
I was wondering if anyone could give an insight in to what it's doing, why it's doing it and how to stop it regularly occurring. I keep noticing it using iStat Menus, and quitting the process but it keeps coming around!
I'm getting a Macbook Pro and I'm not sure which one to get. It will not be my primary machine as I have a custom built i7 Win7 rig so I will be using it when I want to use mac software and when I'm out and about. The 17" is ruled out because of portability and cost and so is the i7 15" becasue of cost. I'm not sure if I should get the 13" 2.4, 13 2.66 or the 15 i5. I'm a web designer so I will be using most of adobe CS5 (Dw,Ps,Ai mainly). Will the resolution on the 13" be good enough? Will I notice a difference between the 2.66 and the 2.4?
i need to ask a question, what is X11?What is it function on OS X?Other thing, the new macbook's have a new graphics cards and i heard that the new Photoshop CS4 will have something to do with the new graphics cards. my question is: will the new CS4 work
So, it seems that it is in fact possible to get a virus/trojan on a Mac, I am using Sophos Anti Virus as I noticed my iMac is running way slow. It's a fairly new machine with 8GB RAM and 2 TB HD so should be fine. Turns out several copies of Troj/PDFJs-ON (files are report.zip, report.pdf. One was removed by Sophos, the other needs to be removed manually. However, according to Adobe, the fix is a patch to the Adobe Reader, but I don't use or have Adobe Reader. I do have other Adobe products. What can I do?
Can anyone who is using this card let me know if they have had issues with CS4. I'm trying to determine if this related to the video card.
Problem: When I try to view a slide show or do a full screen view all I get is a grey screen, pictures do not display. The Radeon HD3870 Mac & PC edition meets Adobe's specs for Photoshop and Bridge CS4. Adobe has tested the 3870 with Windows but not with OS X.
Adobe's documentation lists Bridges GPU functions as
Here are my system specs: MacPro 2 dual-core processors 2.66 GHz 5 GB of certified memory ATI Radeon HD 3870 Mac and Windows edition the vidio card has 512 MB of VRAM
I'm running OS X 10.5.5
The driver that is installed is the original from the disk. I could not find an updated driver on ATI's site or Apples site.
My system info shows two listings for the HD 3870, both in slot 1. The first has display for type and yes for driver installed. The second lists ATY, MegaledonParent as type and no for driver installed.
he wants to give me his PS cs4, im prolly not even going to use it, should i take it anyway? itll prolly just take a couple gigs of my hd and i wont use it

When I installed Illustrator CS3 at the first time, I didn't complete it and closed it. While I installed it again, it said "Adobe Illustrator CS3 cannot be installed because it conflicts with Adobe Illustrator CS3". I was be stopped on this step, so I deleted the Illustrator CS3 from Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers without clicking it to uninstall.
And I deleted other Illustrator CS3 files. After that, I tried to reinstall Illustrator CS3 again, but it kept to say "Adobe Illustrator CS3 cannot be installed because it conflicts with Adobe Illustrator CS3". I cannot find any Illustrator in my MAC. What is wrong? How can I install Illustrator again? Should I format the computer and install all the applications again?
I have a Dual G5 PowerPC with OSX Panther running. The machine runs like a champ for what I do with it. I would like to upgrade to the newest Adobe CS4 because I still use the first/original Creative Suite. BUT, is CS4 at all compatible with OSX Panther, or will I need to upgrade OSX? Also does anyone suggest upgrading to OSX Leopard from Panther; anything to be careful of. I am also concerned about Leopard's compatibilty with my current peripherals (few years old scanner, printer, drawing tablet) The primary use of this machine is for Graphic design, flash, web, and photo proccessing.
Just wondering if there is a Snow Leopard patch out yet for Adobe Photoshop Elements (updated) 6? I've been waiting to buy Snow Leopard, but I need Adobe Photoshop 6...So I'm waiting...
I'm trying to export an animation as an swf file and want it to loop continuously. So I tick 'loop' in the export settings box. Except the outputted file just doesn't loop and just plays once.
Anybody knows where I can download a trial version of Dreamweaver CS4. I would like to try it before purchasing it. I tried adobe.com but they don't have it anymore, they just have CS5
I have recently switched from Windows to Mac and now own a G5 Power Mac and a MacBook Pro.I have CS4 installed on my G5 and I also want to put it on my MacBook. I have 2 software keys for it, but the problem is I don't know which I used already on my G5, is there a way to view the key on my G5 so I make sure I don't get the wrong oneI remember on Windows you could see your key on the splash screen or if you clicked About
