View 1 RepliesI messed up my Itunes today trying to add a second library for my husband's Iphone. Now there are several copies of each folder in Itunes in Finder and I don't know why. My Library has vanished but I can get it under previous libaries. How do I restore it as my current library?
Info:
Mac OS X (10.4.3)
I have manually backed up all my files under User folder without using any of system backup tool(due to technical issue, i have no other option rather than copying manually). I have erased all hard disk and would like to copy everything back to Macintosh. Then the problem is when I tried to copy old Library folder to Macintosh HD user folder, it is saying I need to input password to continue, then I entered password and it still says i don't have permission.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
iTunes 10.6.3 is sandboxed and no longer communicates with calibre. One way round this would be to downgrade to 10.6.1 which does not have this limitation.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy iTunes library has apparently filled my entire iMac (according to the computer I have over 97 days' worth of music). I would like to know 1) how to properly save my iTunes library to an external hard drive and 2) how to use iTunes so that it uses the library on the external drive.

I have a time machine backup, but I've done enough since then that I don't want to completely restore from a backup, if I can just the iTunes application. Can I reinstall the older version without removing my play counts/playlists/stuff like that?
View 13 Replies View Relatedhow to downgrade from iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2.1 using Time Machine. I've researched but I'm still unsure if I'm supposed to be retrieving and/or trashing files or not (I've never restored anything with Time Machine before). If I could do it without having to re-create the library and playlists; that's be great.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Figured it would be a little lighter to have a thread that shows that Apple's computer CAN and DO work occasionally....Here's my uptime on my i7! It wants me to reboot for Safari update, but I refuse. As of 8:42am PST, March 16, 2010:I guess currently I have the longest uptime of anyone in this thread!
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs there a command for iTunes to show you the song that's currently playing (show it highlighted in a visible list in the browser window)? Suppose it's on shuffle and you are separately doing stuff in iTunes like making a different playlist. Can you somehow say, "hey, get me back to the current song and show me what it is"?

Is there anyway to prohibit ichat from posting up my current itunes song? It does it even without my asking. I switch my status to available which makes it go away until the next song comes up at which time it changes my status from available to the current itunes song. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, my current Apple ID is under an email that I deactivated (it was hacked into). I wanted to create a new ID using my current email. But will I lose everything on my iTunes library if I get a new one? Meaning is my music and apps and whatnot saved to my computer or the application itself versus my Apple ID? I know that if I create a new ID that I can just transfer everything from my iPod to iTunes, but I have a 2G iPod Touch and it's a real pain in the neck when I sync it to iTunes (freezes/gets stuck/really slow). I use the newest version (10.6 I believe? Just downloaded it a couple of days ago) for Mac.

setting my Messages status to "Current iTunes Song" but NOT showing the green "Available" button, but the red "Away" button? I have tried using Custom "Away" and typing "Current iTunes Song", but that does not work. I basically want my Messages to show the iTunes song that I am currently playing, but indicate that I am busy. Cant one be listening to music while being busy?
I am running OS X Mavericks on a mid-2009 MBP.
This process deleted all my current text history, call history, photos, music, ringtones and apps! It replaced all of that data with my old iphone 3G data (data being music, texts, call history, photos, music.) It's like my phone went back in time.. This all happened when I backed my phone up last night. I guess I accidentally backed my phone up to my old stuff. I don't know if I have my iPhone 4 info backed up somewhere..

View 11 Replies View RelatedHopefully someone will have the answer as I have searched high and low on this one. I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.

I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then. How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.

When I go into 'Computer' in Windows, I can see my Macintosh HD drive and most of its contents, some pics and other folders etc are all viewable and draggable into Windows. If I upgrade to iTunes Match - would that mean I can then delete files on my computer in my iTunes library and still access them later?
I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external

I'm running out of space on my harddrive and am wondering. Is there a way to move some of my library to an external harddrive? Like TV shows and movies that I don't need to access all the time. I don't want to delete anything. I don't want to carry around a harddrive all the time.

I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping"
So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
Before moving to a new Mac I backed up my old itunes music library.xml file and manually added all of my music files to itunes on my new mac.
Does anybody know a way of getting my old information such as ratings, number of plays etc from the old library into the new one?

I have a new-to-me MacBook (running Lion) and I just downloaded all my music into iTunes. I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?
