OS X :: PDF Files Just Show Blank Pages?
Oct 18, 2009When I open pdf files (opened directly from web or saved on my macbook pro) the pages are always blank in Preview. However, table-outlines are shown.

Dec 27, 2009 i have recently been having trouble opening .pdf files properly. they open but they are all blank pages. they open as blank files in "preview", it doesnt open at all using adobe digital additions and through microsoft word i get gibberish or i get pop ups that say "word cannot open this document. the document might be in use or might not be a valid word document" ive downloaded over 5 times and each time i try with all three options and i get the same thing.
i tried to pull it into iArchiver but that also didnt work.
the file ends with .pdf
also although several other documents have done the same thing i know something is not completely wrong with my .pdf thing or any of those applications because other pdf files do open.
i tried to give as much information right at the beginning so forgive me if its too long.

May 25, 2010I have recently bought a MacBook Pro. I installed Pages '09 and it was working well in the beginning. Soon, though, it began to give me trouble. Whenever I try to save a file and open it later,the file is opened as a blank document. This occurs with both pages and .doc files. Sometimes I can save the text in the file by using command+A and dragging the text over into text edit. But this does not always work.Recently, when I open the application, the template chooser appears but is blank.

Feb 25, 2012Suddenly (as of this AM) my iTunes App Store pages are blank. Never had this problem before. [I'm running a MBA under 10.7.3, with latest iTunes (10.5.3).]Â Symptoms: The Home Page is completely blank except for right panels (Quick Links, Top Charts) and iTunes Store footer; all other tabs on top do the same, except for App Store page, which is completely blank.Connection to Store is fine--iPhone syncs w/o a problem, and I can see my apps, music, updates, etc., can even access my Wish List.Updates download w/o problems, but if I try to view page for an app, only the top part of the page loads, down to "What's New in version xxx". Everything below is blank--no views of app, no Reviews, etc.Category pages will load, but without any Thumbnails, only text, but Purchase buttons work.My iPhone connects and appears as it should--no problems at all.
What I've Tried:reloading iTunes page--several times--no help.Reopening iTunes--several times--no help.Rebooting Mac--dittoRemoving iTunes.rsrc from iTunes [Package Contents/Resources] folder--relaunching iTunes-->didn't help, made it worse-->put it back...same issueOn iPhone:App Store seems to work fine.

Safari :: Its Loading Blank Pages?
Apr 24, 2012Since the latest update i can't load any pages in safari. The apple start page only loads a shortened version of the main page and then if i click on anything else nothing shows up. When i go to different websites i can see the title at the top of the page and sometimes the page even flashes to what the content is before going blank or green or whatever the background color that site has set. If i go to preferences and uncheck "enable javascript" i can get pages to load but its almost useless as i can't do much without it enabled, such as use my gmail, etc. Any ideas what could be causing this? I've run the flashback tool and that virus is not found. I've removed all extensions and reset cookies, reset safari and still nothing. If i use firefox i have no issues whatsoever so i'm not sure why safari is having issues.

Sep 11, 2010Just today I received about 6 e-mails that when I went to open them all I got was a blank page. I tried to delete them but can not seem to do so. When I hit delete nothing happens. The e-mails are from at least two different senders, both known to me and frequent exchangers of e-mails. Any idea of what the problem may be and how to correct it?

Software :: Icon For Blank CD Does Not Show Up On Desktop?
Jan 9, 2006I have a user who inserts a blank CD in internal drive and it won't show up on desktop, but does show up in disk utiility and can be ejected thru disk utiility. System is 10.3.9.
If we insert a CD with data on it, NAV scans and it shows up right away on desktop. Only happens with blank CDs. And yes, this is a DVD-RW and CD-RW drive.
I trashed Finder prefs and rebooted machine, same issue. Has anyone seen this and if so, got an answer?

Apr 18, 2012I am having trouble burning DVDs. MBP 10.6.8 Never had any problem till about a week ago. I insert a known blank Sony DVD-R, the drive seems to shutter a bit more than it has in the past then the disk icon shows up on the desktop as usual. Add items, hit burn, 1 second later error message Untitled DVD cant be burned because the disc is read-only and cant be modified (error code 0x80020042), disk ejects. When I look under "About this Mac" >Disc Burning and insert a new known blank Sony DVD-R, hit refresh, and look under Media: Blank: shows NO, Erasable: shows NO, Overwritable shows No, but Appendable: show Yes. To make matters more cloudy CDs burn just fine and I can read all expected medias. Only odd thing I have done in this time period was set the computer to book into 64-bit.

Dec 1, 2014Running 10.10 and I'm getting all blank pages when I print through the system or say Preview. Brother MFC-4710, upgraded firmware and downloaded new drivers. What is weird though is if I open a PDF from Chrome and printer directly from Chrome, it prints fine.Â
I've tried it on two laptops and both have the problem.

Oct 22, 2009I have a HP Photosmart C4200 Series (C4280 to be exact). I have recently installed Snow Leopard (was using Leopard before) and this printer shows as supported in Snow Leopard.The problem I'm having, is that when I go to print a document from Microsoft Word (Office 2008) for Mac, all I get are blank pages. I printed something from Text Edit and it comes out fine, but files from Microsoft Word come out blank. Also, the "Test" pages come out fine as well.
I have been printing files for months and months now from Microsoft Word, but this is the first time I have tried in Snow Leopard.Does anyone know what is going on? I really need to print stuff since its for school.

Mar 24, 2010I need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?

May 14, 2012Having just moved from Snow Leopard to Lion, i reinstalled iWork 08 and tried to carry on work..... . But after the reinstalls, the text in ALL .pages documents doesn't show anymore. I can highlight it and I can see it - but no amount of fiddling with text colour or background colour does the trick. Funnily enough, I can print the documents without any problems.

Jun 5, 2009I can't work out how to combine files in Pages, so please advise! If I go to Insert->Choose it looks like I can add other files, but not pages files. I have about 10 pages documents that need to be merged into one single document. I know I could copy and paste but I am concerned about a number of formatting issues. Some documents have fairly complicated section breaks or are fairly image-heavy, for example. One document seems to choke everything up when I copy from it (the one with lots of images etc - it's around 10MB large).

Feb 10, 2010We use Paypal to print off and pay for postage labels. Usually there are 2 or 3 pages depending on the country the label is for. Unfortunately, we don't need the customs label or the insurance page, so 2 out of 3 pages are a waste of ink and time and unfortunately again, these 2 unecessary pages have a habit of printing out first..Until I installed Snow Leopard last year. And magically the print order reversed and I was able to get my label off and cancel the rest.I got a new printer this week, and it's printing back in the old order Totally miffed. Anyway to affect the label order? It's going to save so much trouble
