Mar 6, 2009Im having problems executing a successful screen grab on my iMac.Ive always used Shift+Cloverleaf+4 to select a portion of the screen and then get a snapshot, and that still seems to work because im hearing the photosnap sound.The problem occurs when i go to paste this captured selection, nothing happens. I cant paste it in photoshop, email, or anywhere for that matter.

May 30, 2010Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)

Apr 18, 2009for some reason the grab application on my computer is simply not working. i can not take pictures, i've tried to press the shift-option-3, but it is just not doing anything. i'll open grab up and go to 'capture' and then 'screen' and it won't do anything. it won't take a picture at all.

Nov 24, 2009I used GRAB to grab a couple of maps off of mapquest. I couldn't find them afterwards and I discovered they were in dashboard. Wierd??
Now I can't get rid of them. I've tried dragging them to the trash, clicking on them, trying to find them in the Finder. Nada. Nothing. I can't figure out how to get rid of them. When I clicked on one of them the entire machine froze and I had to turn the power off to get it to start up again.
Mac Pro :: Blank Screen Part Way Through Start-up
Aug 23, 2010My Mac Pro arrived today and of the six or so times I've restarted this has happened three times:
I get the normal grey Apple logo screen then as it switches to the login screen the screen goes black. The monitor doesn't go into sleep mode, it thinks its getting a signal. If I hit the power button and put the Mac to sleep then wake it up the login screen appears.

MacBook Pro :: Bleeding Along The Bottom Part Of The Screen?
Jul 22, 2009I did a search and could only find information about the last rendition of mbps, and I see they had problems with bleeding along the bottom part of the screen. I just got my umbp a week ago, but I've been so busy finding a place to live for grad school that I haven't had the chance to use it. I looked at it in the dark yesterday, and I'm super anal. I saw a small amount of backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner of the screen, perhaps half an inch on the left side of the screen, just in one area (not along the entire left side).I wish I could take a picture, but my digital camera is nowhere to be found. Is a small amount of backlight bleeding acceptable, or should I exchange for a new umbp?

Oct 21, 2008My father owns one of the original G5s, so its power pc not intel. Today while browsing an excel spreadsheet he says part of the screen turned black, then the monitor shut off, then the monitor came back on but not video. Mean while the fans started spinning out of control. Now when he tries to turn it on, he gets power, but all that happens is the fans spinning faster and faster and faster until he turns it off. No video or anything. Just speeding fans. He fears the CPUs died since they control the fans. Any suggestions? He also says the fans were spinning unusually fast these last few days.

I would do it through the application menu by going Safari>Services>Grab but on all the programs, this option is greyed out and i can't access grab through that menu.

On linux you can hold down "alt" then click anywhere on a window and the cursor becomes a "hand" so you can grab and move a window around. It makes it easier especially on a laptop so you don't have to move the cursor up to the border.

May 29, 2012I buy the new iMac with i7 and I'm running a migration using the assistant from MacBook Pro to the new one. I have my doubt in how to grab all the messages I have in my mails in this migration. I have like 2000 mails from several years that I store in the mail of my MacBook. I can't imagine if the Migration assistant just pass my documents and won't grab my flagged mails in the MacBook Pro . The migration didn't still runnig so I'm not sure what is going to be after all end. By the way I do this with a USB connection frim one to the other. Is any body know about my inquirie of the mails?

Nov 13, 2009I was doing several things at once on my iMac (ripping a DVD, on iChat video, etc) and my mac crashed. Now it won't open iTunes. I have a 500 gig music library and hundreds of playlists etc, so I'd hate to have to reinstall iTunes and lose all that. Is that what would happen if I reinstalled iTunes? I have Time Machine hooked up. Could I go into that and grab an iTunes prefs file from before the crash, and put that in the current system folder? Would that be something to try?
