Jun 4, 2014Since upgrading to Mountain Lion the other day my Macbook Pro freezes when it enters the screen saver mode.

View 1 RepliesA key stroke or mouse click won't remove the screensaver. However dragging the mouse across the screen reveals the login screen behind. Any fixes?
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy macbook pro today started to freeze at logo scrren. I tried to start it up in both safe and recovery modes but it doesn't work either. I got the system to start in safe mode only once and the scrren looked like in the attached image. When I tried printing the screen instead of taking a photo with my mobile, the image appeared to be normal (without those noisy rectangles), but it wasnt. Then itried restarting but it's been impossible. As i said i tried booting on safe and recovery modes but the circle below the apple logo appèars and then it freezes again. I read about aproblem with the graphic card similar to mine in earlier models, I don`t know if it is the same problem.

Ok... So, I have an extremely slow Time Machine backup. Many people do. I've gone through the motions and tried to resolve the issue by doing the suggested restart in Safe Mode. I even followed some of the other tips that are on this string: slow time machine backup
Nothing has worked. I don't use Norton Symantec but I didn't the Norton Remove script through the Console already. I don't run any anti-virus software.
This started when I was backing up to at Time Capsule. I backed up to the TC for years before this started. I then moved to backing up (started fresh) to a external HD connected via USB.
I have a 2010 Mac Mini with OS X 10.9 (Latest Version)
Does anyone know if iCal can work in a screensaver mode? I am planning to connect a mac (Macmini) to a 20" LCD TV/monitor in the kitchen. I would like to have the "family calendar" loaded on for routine viewing but obviously do not want burn in.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I leave my clam shelled computer alone for a while, it doesn't start the screen saver after 5 minutes like I set it to. Is this intentional on Apple's part? If so, is there a program I could download to make it work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy does my screen saver stay all of the time? It never goes to sleep. What do I need to do to correct this??

Whenever I close my computer to put it to sleep and then open it up later, the computer freezes and I am unable to type in my password to unlock my computer and am forced to hold down the power button until it turns off and then reboot it. This has become a major pain and has only started today but has happened 3 times already. I have an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and a Magic Mouse connected to my computer and am running 10.6.2 if that helps. I'd rather not have to shut down my computer all the time and I'm no longer covered by any protection.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLately my 13" early 2011 Macbook Pro has been locking up when in sleep mode. All I get is a blank screen and the cursor which responds, but no buttons pushed on the keyboard resolve issue. Resolution thus far has been to hard boot the macbook...

I have a problem with my macbook. Recently after a software update it started freezing when live streaming from the net. Than the problem continued to airport it either does not turn on or it shows it on but still no connection to the net if i connect via Ethernet and leave airport on Ethernet will disconnect and unable to reconnect again if i turn airport of at least Ethernet works. Freezing happens after a longer period of sleep mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot.
Here are the things I've tried.
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothing
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNote: I've tried safe mode, and I don't have this problem there. But when I'm in safe mode, I can't get to the internet, so it's useless.I have an ibook g3. I don't know the exact kind, but it has dual usb ports and a translucent keyboard.
I know my g3 is old, but it works just fine. I can start up, log in, and my desktop will come up just fine. I can run any of the applications I have installed. I can get on the internet. I can do pretty much anything... for ten minutes.
After being on my g3 for a little while, it starts to go slower and slower and slower until I get the little rainbow pinwheel thing and it freezes up. Then I have to turn it off by force. BTW, when all of this starts, it doesn't really heat up or make any odd noises.
how do I add new screensaver? I have downloaded one but unable to add it. Screensaver only has options of adding folder and photos, not of adding new screensaver.

Can I have custom set of pix for my screensaver? I can't seem to select the folder of pix like I did for Tiger.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes when my screensaver kicks in the display never goes to sleep. Instead, the dancing screensaver, which is clearly running, is sucking up CPU and running hot for days. When I finally sit down and move the mouse, the pointer moves but the screen refuses to wake. This is a fairly new iMac, no mods, no programs installed of questionable nature, virtual new sock OEM iMac. Thinking about downgrading to SL as this is one of many problems that I have with Lion (not just on my machine but every Lion box). Has Apple peaked yet? Can we expect nothing but trouble from here on out?

Recently I am having issues with the screensaver setting, it comes on every time I reach the log-in page while booting, and instead of turning on after 'x' minutes of inactivity it just gets turned on after 'x' minutes. Means if I slide it to 5 minutes, I get the screensaver on after 5 mins, be it doing work or watching a movie in it.

The screensaver countdown does not seem to work correctly: if I set it to, say, 5 minutes, then after 5 minutes (irrespective of whether I'm using an attached mouse or keyboard, or the laptop keyboard/ trackpad), then the screensaver will start. Even when actually typing, the screensaver will still cut in for a brief moment before cancelling itself.
The only workaround is to turn the screensaver off.
This doesn't seem to be a Lion-specific issue - the problem started with Snow Leopard, and has continued now that I've upgraded to Lion.

I like music, and I like the iTunes Artwork screensaver as a way to select music randomly. Often, I get to my computer, wake it up from sleep, and it presents me with a typical login screen.
Is it possible to have the computer wake up to the iTunes Artwork screensaver, instead of the traditional login screen? Currently, I have a hot corner set to launch the screensaver, so I first login, then launch the screensaver with the hot corner, then select my background music, then I have to login again. Ideally, I would be able to wake up, select some music, login and go!

My Desktop & Screensaver preference pane (Lion 10.7.4) is not storing changes to the "Folders" section.
I added folders under "Folders" and later deleted the folders from my hard drive. The Desktop & Screensaver preference pane turned these folders into "ghost" folders.
So now I have several ghost folders under "Folders" in the Desktop tab of my Desktop & Screensaver preference pane. I can highlight each ghost folder and click the "-" button to delete it, but when I relaunch Desktop & Screensaver they return. Also, I can add new folders to the "Folders" section, but when I relaunch Desktop & Screensaver, they aren't there anymore.
