OS X Mavericks :: Unable To Get IPhoto Or IMovie On Computer
Sep 2, 2014
My hard drive recently crashed, and I had to get a new one. When I got my computer back (from the reputable third party I had fix it), it was updated to mavericks. I guess the things on the drive couldn't be recovered, which is alright. I had most of it backed up. But I no longer have iphoto or imovie on the computer. I'm not sure why that is, and I checked the "purchases" folder in the appstore. There's nothing to download there. Is there some other way I can get my software back?
Info:
MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
I've just upgraded to Mavericks from Lion. I find that iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD are all missing in the new OS. Can I restore them from my Time Machine backups? If I do, will they work with Mavericks?
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), MacBook Pro 2.2ghz i7
I've takes some videos with my digital camera. When I connect it to my Mac, iPhoto opens up and imports them, and I have all the videos in their own event.
When I open up iMovie 08 to edit these clips, they do not show up in the event library under iPhoto videos.
My daughter recorded something on iMovie, but she wanted to import some video she took from our camcorder. She put the video on a DVD but she can't seem to drag the video onto her existing iMovie.
I called Apple's support service and they suggested I try loading the video directly from the camcorder but they couldn't help me with that as it's not an Apple product (the camcorder is a: Sony) They suggested to put the camcorder on some type of mode that the computer could recognize????
The other suggestion they made was to get a third party application that can "rip" the images from the DVD so it can be imported into iMovie. Again, they couldn't help me because it's not their product.
I'm not very really familiar with any of these things so I was hoping someone would be willing to help me figure it.
I am currently running Mavericks 10.9.4 and iPhoto 8.1.2 on my MacBook.
I'm waaay behind on organizing my pictures unfortunately, so I haven't worked in iPhoto for a while. When I try to export pictures to the computer it "quits unexpectedly". Hmmm, maybe I should see if there's an update. OK, so the only option it gives me is to spend $14.99 for iPhoto 9.5.1?!?!?
No more free upgrades for something I already own?
I recently installed Mavericks OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) and now I'm unable to open iPhoto ..I tried to update from the App store but I am getting the following message..'This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled'. I have only ever had one Apple ID. I had the hard drive replaced 2 years ago at the Apple shop.
My entire iPhoto Library is gone, inaccessible, doesn't show up in finder. I tried to restore my last Time Machine back up but it says that I don't have enough space on my startup disk. In order to create space I deleted everything nonessential and moved all of my essential folders such as documents, photos, videos, everything, etc. to my external drive, then deleted them from my hard drive. I emptied the trash to make sure that everything was wiped.
I tried to do the Time Machine back up of my iPhoto Library again and is still says I don't have enough space. I looked at my storage under About this Mac, and it says that 120.35 GB of my current computer storage are photos, however, I don't have ANY photos on my hard drive at all. I don't know what to do because I can't delete applications and there is literally nothing else I can delete from my computer, so I don't understand how 135 GBs of storage is being used up.
Could there be somewhere my photos are hiding? I just don't understand why my library got deleted in the first place for that matter.
I used my iPhone 4 to record some video taken over a vacation in hopes of making a movie whenever I could. Today, I imported my videos from my iPhone into my Macbook Pro using iPhoto, and then iMovie automatically synced the videos just placed in iPhoto First of all, I posted the exact same topic in the "Digital Media" section, however it's been about two weeks since, and I've received no response due to the section's user traffic, or lack thereof.
Now, my problem is that I recorded about 5-6 hours of footage and iMovie has it all in one location called "iPhoto Videos." Furthermore, whenever I click into that location (folder), iMovie lags ridiculously it's very hard for me to navigate between the various days as it's all compiled into one location/folder.
Also, I'd like to mention that I've made movies before, however they were neatly organized by date as I was able to import the footage straight to iMovie instead of iPhoto (using a digital camera with a video recording feature).
Made the mistake of emptying the camera memory before importing the movie files into imovie. Now I can't get the videos to import into imovie. This is quite annoying. Have looked at the web and people suggest converting them but then you lose quality- is that correct?
I can't buy apps iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand there is mentioned instead of price only "accept" but when I clicked on it and wrote my Apple ID I received error message. My Mac Mini was bought from another person but fully reinstalled.
When I clicked the 'update' button, the Mac App Store said: "We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."

I'm new with iMovie and this is all pretty damn confusing. I have a bunch of short nothing videos in my "iPhoto videos" area. but I can't seem to get to my newly added videos in iPhoto. I play them in iPhoto all the time, they're grouped by event and such but I can't for the life of me get them into the area.
I am running iMovie '09 (8.0.6) and iPhoto '09 (8.1.2) running on a late 2007 iMac with Snow Leopard (10.6.3).
I have dozens of avi format videos imported from my point and shoot digital camera in the iPhoto library and iMovie used to be able to see them. Not any more. It now recognizes only a handful from a couple of years back.
I want to be able to open my iPhone movies in iMovie so I can edit them in there. I know that I need to import my video into iPhoto and then from there open it in iMovie, but that is where I am stuck. I can import into iPhoto, but how do I then open it in iMovie. I opened the file which opened in Quicktime and then I saved the file on my desktop and from there opened it in iMovie, but the resulting upload to Youtube was very poor quality even though it should have been 720p.
Although I've had my MacBook Pro for a little bit, it's my first time using iMovie and wondered if there is a way to move the freeze frame stills into iPhoto.
I have tons of video in iPhoto that are not playing. They show a preview thumbnail, then they show the "triangle and exclamation" error sign when clicked on. The same videos appeared in iPhoto as recently as yesterday and worked just fine. The same videos no longer appear in iMovie and it says that iPhoto has no video content.
My iPhoto Videos are appearing in iMovie '09 with the wrong dates and times, but the dates and times in iPhoto are correct. Rather than adjust the info manually, is there a way of correcting it?
Anyone know if this is known problem? I have loads of my video imported directly into iPhoto (I have compact camera which takes photos and video). When in iMovie I click on 'iphoto Videos' in the 'event library pane' and after a lot of thinking iMovie crashes!
I downloaded photos from my camera to iphoto which included some videos. The video files appear in iphoto but i want to transfer them to imovie. However when I tried to do this - a message in the imovie program says there are no video files to see. When I tried to transfer them through the share option, which opened my photo albums but only the photos appear not the videos. Can someone please tell me how to transfer the video files from iphoto into imovie.
Our family has had a Mac for about a year and recently we started getting warnings about space and Startup Disk getting full. We have a 250GB drive and and have about 30GB free. Movies are taking up 121GB and Pictures 31GB. We want to move the iMovie files off the laptop after we create a DVD of our sons basketball season. Recently my wife deleted files by going to iPhoto and selected multiple files and then pressed OPTION + COMMAND + DELETE, to remove them. Afterwards iPhoto said it was updating library and was scanning like up to 84K of items. We only had a library of 6K items. Once complete it did finally show about 1k items left. I would really like to copy files to USB rather than delete them. Help, how do you move these files to USB?
A few days ago I got my macbook pro (late 2011). I delivered it to the service and when i got it back I cant find imovie, iphoto, garage band that I had before i delivered it to the service. What has happend and how do I get these programs back?
I can't get the iMovie to import photos from iPhoto without crashing just a few minutes into loading. Anyone know what I should do besides restart my computer (that doesn't help the problem).
Completed a clean install of Lion on 2009 IMac and thanks to some help from the Community was able to reinstall Aperture, Logic Express and Final Cut Express, which were supplied on DVD with the original purchase of the IMac (the computer came with these softwares pre-installed). But what do I do about iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie? Oddly, Lion doesn't include these, even though they were included with the initial computer purchase. The App Store wants to charge me for these, and my only option so far is to drag a copy (in this case GarageBand) from my backup drive, which generated a "Instrument Library in invalid!" error.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), System upgraded from 10.5
