MacBook Pro :: IMovie Using - How Do I Import VIDEOS From IPhoto

Feb 6, 2008

I'm new with iMovie and this is all pretty damn confusing. I have a bunch of short nothing videos in my "iPhoto videos" area. but I can't seem to get to my newly added videos in iPhoto. I play them in iPhoto all the time, they're grouped by event and such but I can't for the life of me get them into the area.

Applications :: Unable To Import IPhoto Videos Into IMovie 08

Aug 12, 2007

I've takes some videos with my digital camera. When I connect it to my Mac, iPhoto opens up and imports them, and I have all the videos in their own event.

When I open up iMovie 08 to edit these clips, they do not show up in the event library under iPhoto videos.

Applications :: Can't Get Videos To Import Into IMovie

Apr 22, 2009

I'm in the process of making a presentation in iMovie, and I am using photos and movies from iPhoto. The pictures work just fine, but I can not get my videos to import into iMovie. I've tried restarting both iPhoto and iMovie, and I've had no luck. The files are .mov, which I know are compatible with iMovie because I've used them before. However I did a test video and it was MPEG-4, and that imported just fine into iMovie. So it appears it may be a format issue but I've used .mov in the past so that has me stumped. I could re render the video in MPEG-4, but the video was a rendering of the whole building in HD, so it took about 24 hours to render, so I don't want to do that again. If I do have to convert it, what program can I use to convert it?

Intel Mac :: Trying To Import Videos / Any Way To Convert These / Get Them Into IMovie?

Jun 10, 2012

I am trying to import some videos from my recent trip to Costa Rica. When I try to play the videos I receive this message: The document “M2U00887.MPG” could not be opened.required codec isn't available. Is there any way to convert these/get them into iMovie? They are all MPEG format.I typically make videos from my trips - these CD's were burned for me by the surf school so I am not used to importing this way. I have tried some of the suggestions regarding VPI and was able to see the movies but not get them into iMovie.

MacBook Pro :: Editing IPhoto Videos In IMovie On MBP?

Nov 16, 2010

I used my iPhone 4 to record some video taken over a vacation in hopes of making a movie whenever I could. Today, I imported my videos from my iPhone into my Macbook Pro using iPhoto, and then iMovie automatically synced the videos just placed in iPhoto
First of all, I posted the exact same topic in the "Digital Media" section, however it's been about two weeks since, and I've received no response due to the section's user traffic, or lack thereof.

Now, my problem is that I recorded about 5-6 hours of footage and iMovie has it all in one location called "iPhoto Videos." Furthermore, whenever I click into that location (folder), iMovie lags ridiculously it's very hard for me to navigate between the various days as it's all compiled into one location/folder.

Also, I'd like to mention that I've made movies before, however they were neatly organized by date as I was able to import the footage straight to iMovie instead of iPhoto (using a digital camera with a video recording feature).

I have tons of video in iPhoto that are not playing.  They show a preview thumbnail, then they show the "triangle and exclamation" error sign when clicked on.  The same videos appeared in iPhoto as recently as yesterday and worked just fine.  The same videos no longer appear in iMovie and it says that iPhoto has no video content.

Applications :: Won't Import Imovie Project Files Into Imovie / Not Recognizing Files

May 8, 2009

So, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.

MacBook Pro :: How To Import Images Without Using IPhoto

May 27, 2012

With PCs, I was used to importing pictures to my hard drive and then viewing and editing them with whatever software applications I wanted. With my Mac, I notice that when I insert my SD card, iPhoto starts and asks me to import, which I agree. Unfortunately, it imports the images to an iPhoto folder that I can't easily access from another program, such as PhotoshopElements. I have read how to use Finder to navigate to these imported images in the iPhoto library ("Show Package Content") and then I copy the folder of images and paste it to a folder in my "Pictures" directory in Finder.

I find this tedious and also redundant as I now I understand I basically have two copies of every image, one for iPhoto Library and the other for accessing via other programs, such as Photoshop. Is there anyway I can simply import images straight to a folder on my hard drive? Also, if I do choose to access these images via iPhoto, am I correct in assuming iPhoto will automatically create a duplicate folder, just for accessing in the iPhoto library? If so, isn't this a waste of hard drive space? Can this be avoided?

OS X :: IMovie Won't Import Anything?

Apr 21, 2010

So, I've seen tons of threads about iMovie only working with certain video file extensions and not others. Trouble is, my iMovie doesn't work with any file, ever. The files show up as "importable" when I go to import them, but then they simply don't import. When I try clicking and dragging them like the program says to, they "bounce back" to where they were. When I click on "last import" it shows up empty. When I click on "import" it acts as if it's going to work, and an icon reading "new event" shows up, but when I highlight (or click, or double click, or right-click, or anything) that icon, the message reads, "No matching video. Chose a different option from the Show pop-up menu" etc.

I've been trying for months! I love to make videos and with Vegas on Windows I never had any trouble. Files that iMovie won't import: AVI, MP4, MP3, MPG, MKV, WMV, SFK, and no song files, either. My Mac is an iMac OS X version 10.5.8I called the local Apple store and the lady there told me that I shouldn't be trying to use any videos other than ones I'd shot from my own camera anyway. :/

5. Mount the new disk image. A "Camera Detected, Scanning Contents" window will appear in iMovie, followed by an import window. You can now import the DVD contents and start editing away.
