Every time I open my Applications folder the view setting that I set is back to default. The system does not remember the background color, icon size, or any other setting.

Snow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNot familiar with the mac at all, as this post will demonstrate On the desktop, the background is now expanded and when you move the cursor, it navigates by an annoying combination moving the cursor and moving the background until an icon is under the arrow. I screwed around with the display and some other preferences, but i cant figure out which setting I need to modify to get it back to a static background (of normal size) and a cursor that moves to an icon.

As you can see from the image above, finder is showing that apps are taking up nearly 30 GB, nearly 25 GB less than system information. What is causing this or which one is the actual size of the apps. It's not as if I'm runing out of space , I'm just a bit curious.

I'm must be hitting some strange key combination / trackpad gesture (I just got a macbook pro) and my font size in safari keeps randomly increasing. This happens on the desktop with the icons as well.

Well Safari doesn't seem to remember my settings and each time i visit a new page or the same page, i have to Command + twice each and overtime.
Is there a way to set it to automatically increase it x2 for everything? or atlas save the settings for that page?
Every time I open finder I have to drag it out to the size I want it. It will not remember the size I put it at. How do I get it to remember. MBA Mid-2011 with Lion installed 10.7.4.
If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

I have an 09 Mac Pro Nehalem, with nvida gt120 graphics card running 10.6.2 with the latest mac pro 1.4 efi and two 23 inch Apple cinema displays (the older DVI kind)
I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.
Is it possible to color the entire background, like a stationery only with a solid color?

When I visit websites, I constantly have to hit the zoom in button in the Safari menu bar. If I don't do this, there are words that overlap on the page. Is there a way I could make Safari remember my zoom options? I have 18 point selected under the Advanced section of Safari System Preferences. I also use Chrome and Chrome seems to remember my view options.

I recently downloaded and installed Office 2011 and I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to change the background color from grey to anything you want. In 2008, there was a file in the Contents-->Resources folder called "Page Layout View Background Rest" that you could replace with any image and the background would change (by 'background', I mean the actual grey color on each side of the word document, not the background of the document itself).

Once the reboot was complete I had lost my system time (which had been reset to December 31, 2000 and my background had been replaced with the original generic MAC background. I have been unable to find the source of this issue and I am unsure how to fix this. I was able to change my clock by adjusting the Date & Time Preferences and fix my background image as well, but I am concerned that this is a temporary fix. Has anyone else experienced this with a system update?

I have some PDF forms that I regularly need to fill out. Since they aren't "real" PDF forms and the document is locked, I need to print to PDF, save as TIFF and then use Preview's annotate feature to mark things up. It works well, but the default font color (red) and default font size (36) are not optimal. And each time I start a new annotation, I need to change back to black and a smaller font size. Is there any way to alter this default?
