View 4 Replies View RelatedI just tried to add a partition to my external HDD (which I use for Time Machine). I used Disk Utility to add a partition of 100GB (leaving an extra 200GB for the Time Machine partition). This process took about 30 seconds and when both partitions re-mounted they were both empty. I went back into Disk Utility and deleted the second partition I just added and resized the Time Machine partition back to using 100% of the HDD.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was putting in a new external HD into a external dock, that I was going to partition and format for Mac. Well I must have had my movie External drive on and overlooked it somehow, and accidentally formatted that one instead thinking that I was using the new drive. What was strange was it said the drive was not readable and needed to be initialized. So I assumed, that was the drive that needed to be partitioned, yes I partitioned it, then formatted it for Mac. I even wrote some files on it about 20 GB or so. We are talking about a 1 TB HD. Anyway , It's not possible is it to reclaim my drive is it? Sad thing is it was my movies drive. I lost 151 movies. I am so angry at myself. And of course it was not part of my time machine. So am I out of luck?

I used a macbook pro with Snow leopard 10.6.1. It was an accident, I copy all files in folder from Ext. HDD to a folder in macbook.
But I've made mistake. A name of folder on Ext. HDD was same as a name of folder on my macbook. While I'm busy, It was an accident. I push enter button to overwrite data.
A 7 GB folder has changed to approx. 2 GB folder.
In this case, Does anyone know how to recover my data. It's an important data, I've done it for a year.
I tried to use data rescue 3.0 and file salvage. But a search result of these 2 programs show me some thing such as 'Pic001 to Pic15555' , 'autocad 001.dwg-autocad 30000.dwg' ,001.pdf-11234.pdf'.
My hardisk is 250 GB but a search result is 300++ GB. I can't find a file that I want to use.
In this case, Is there any program that easy to recover my data???

And so the Flashback saga continues. About a couple of days before the Java patch hit I encountered the now dreaded Software Update login screen. I did not enter my password, hit cancel, popped back up and hit cancel again. So here is the issue, at the time this happened I had iAntivirus installed which is one of the application this malware looks for when installing orginially according to F-Secure. (apparently it doesn't work on Lion which might be the issue). Since I hit cancel it would have still tried to continue with the second variation but I also have Office 2011 (also one of the applications this looks for before self deleting according to F-Secure).Â
I panicked when popular news broke about this and following the terminal commands provided by F-secure discovered that for all 3 commands, there was nothing that existed and became relieved and updated Java with the new update...until I proceeded to download ClamXav (app store free version) as a future precautionary measure. This is when I ran a scan and discover 2 OSX Flashback-8 infections. One .null and one .rserv. Both of which I promptly removed, which sent them to the trash. When I attempted emptying the trash neither could be permanently deleted bc both were "in use". Â
How do I still have the trojan, virus, malware or whatever you want to call it if terminal found nothing but ClamXav did? Is this just a variation that hasn't really been encountered before?Â
I should also note that in my Library I have both null. plist and com. adobe. reader. plist that had been recently modified in the last couple of weeks (these were mentioned in several articles as potential launcher files. Â
Any thoughts or should I just completely restore my Macbook Pro?

My terms are probably really bad, not very tech sauvy so I apoligize. 4 email accounts -gmail, buckeyemail and fisher email which are outlook based, and then a kent state email which I dont know what it is. -Blackberry that I use to read emails on but it never deletes anything from the web based servors. -I dont like deleting emails off the actual servers they go to first, like my gmail is currently 9000 messages deep. My problem is when I delete them off my computer, it also deletes them off where I check my email web based, I don't want that to happen. Also, I don't want a folder full of messages. I Just want things I decide to keep and everything else to be swiped from the computer, I really dont know how much space these emails take up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did something really stupid... I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.

My school has recently migrated its e-mail from Lotus to Gmail. And getting the e-mail to work with IMAP in Mail.app seems to always be a bitch! I was trying to clean up my failed attempts at getting an Mail.app to sync with my school's Gmail account.
So, is it still possible to recover those deleted files?
No, I do not have time machine.
Is there any possible way to get it back? I was trying to change the names of folders, from lower case to upper case, and I got a message telling me that I couldn't do that, because there was already a folder like that.
I saw an extra folder, and clicked on it, but there appeared to be nothing in it, so I chose Delete from the menu. Only to find out it was the real folder with many other folders inside.
I'm using Mac Mail, OS X 10.4.11 -- I did NOT choose Erase Deleted Messages from the menu yet . Is there still hope to recover all those deleted messages.
I need to get that e-mail back somehow.
I am trying to find a message that I may have deleted. Not just moved to trash but when in the trash I click "erase deleted items" how do I get it back? Its a yahoo account and I am using the Mail app on my macbook pro.

I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. How do I 100% get this unwanted mailbox in Mail?

I opened up mail today to find that my entire inbox has been totally wiped. This is quite inconvenient for many reasons, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I still have the emails in my outbox, sent and drafts folder, but there is nothing to be found in my inbox. It doesn't appear as if my emails are in the trash anywhere either.I'm with telus, for what it's worth, and I'm running 10.9.2.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run a late-2013 27-inch iMac with with OSX10.9.3. Although all my Mail preferences are set to 'never delete', periodically my entire Inbox and Sent folders get completely emptied out, every email deleted. The many emails I have in folders are untouched. I need to refer often to my sent mail and this is causing large problems as you'd imagine - as is losing my Inbox contents before I've dealt with them all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOccasionally when I am composing a message in Mail (Version 4.3), I accidentally hit a key that deletes a whole sentence. Is there a way I can retrieve this sentence or do I have to start over? In my old Outlook Express on my Dell pc, I could arrow back to find anything that accidentally deleted while composing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEither I accidently deleted an email in my apple mail inbox or my computer deleted it (because it was in my inbox for several months) but now I can no longer find this important email. Though, I do have time machine running always, so I was wondering if the email had been saved to anywhere on the hard drive where time machine may still have it.

There's an email whose attachments Outlook is unable to download from the server and the attachments in question are small text files. I went to mail.cisco.com and deleted the email there but the outlook still shows up that email in inbox and then get stuck in the "Downloading attachments" loop which I'd shown below. I tried to delete it on outlook but it still stays there. It is causing High CPU as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with Mail and trying out POP3 with hotmail. I discovered that mail downloaded ALL my emails from the last 5 years and deleted it from my hotmail webaccount. So, I tried to find the settings to prevent Mail from downloading and deleting email but couldn't. So I proceeded to delete the account from Mail. To my horror, I found that I've lost all my emails as well!!!
Is there a way to retrieve my emails? Now I can't even find the pop3 setting for free hotmail.
