When I try to copy a music CD using the method of creating a DMG from the original CD and then burning that to a CD, the CD appears to burn just fine but in finder it shows up as empty, does not open in iTunes and when played on a CD player, it just acts like it is playing but no sound comes out (That is with my CD player, I only have one). Is there a better way to copy a CD? Why does Mac not come with a "Copy CD" command?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am using a MacBookPro late 2009 running10.9.3. I am using Ffx version 30.0, latest edition. I copy some text onto my clipboard using Command-C and then I use Command-F to find text on the firefox window. then when I try to paste my clipboard text (with Command-V), whatever I typed into the Command-F window is what gets pasted. This overwriting of my clipboard is brand new - Ffx never worked this way before.
I have restarted my computer. I have reset Firefox. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode -> the problem persists. I am using the Default theme in Firefox. I do not have any extensions. I have only a few add-ons but when they are disabled (= safe mode) the problem persists. I have unchecked the "use hardware acceleration when possible" option in Firefox preferences and the problem persists. I posted in Mozilla support and so far I have been told to try safe mode (doesn't work, as above). I have tried selecting the "automatically search when I start to type" in Ffx to go around the Command-F step --> the problem persists.
Edited to add: the command-F search function works fine. That's not the issue. It's that using Command-F automatically overwrites my clipboard text with whatever text I type into the command-F search box.

I think I have found a flaw in OSX 10.6.4 file copying..I normall back up my files, by dragging from a folder on my HD to an identical folder on my external HD.The folder I am copying has 86 files in it, but there are only about two dozen new files added since my last back up.I have been telling it by the dialogue box, not to replace identical files in the back up folder, and clicking the check box to apply to all."but when I press the dont copy button, in the copy progress box it says it is copying 86 files. WTF is going on...!@#$%^&*().

Is there a command to clear the terminal screen that works like 'cls' on Windows? I know about 'clear', but clear just moves the prompt on the top of the screen, leaving the previous output visible if I scroll up.
A friend suggested 'clear_console' (I think he's on debian) but I can't find it on OS X or MacPorts.
I want to build a redboot kernel in a wireless router, the command required from my newly acquired knowledge is insmod and modprobe.
However from the mac 10.5.8 terminal it says that the command is not found. I have installed gcc , sdk compiler support and enabled the super user as well.
Seems like a simple thing to do, yet I've searched and not found an answer.

I can use the Control>C command to quit that and return to normal. But it's a waste of time and I can't seem to figure it out. A Genius Bar Genius said to Archive and Install, but I don't think it's necessary. I just want to know how I can find whatever it is that's screwing it up.

I'm using the command "installer -pkg Installer.pkg -target / The .pkg is on a mounted USB drive. / is also mounted. When I run the command, the screen scrolls to a new blank line and stays there but nothing happens. The light on my USB indicates no data transfer is happening. View 10 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to run a sudo command in the OS X terminal. Every time I run a sudo command, I get no response, as if the command is not run at all. My sudo appears to be broken somehow. I've got a problem with mounting an NTFS drive that is dirty. I have a command I am trying to run using the "sudo" command, but it is not working.

After the sudo, I am prompted for my password, but after that the only response I get is another prompt, as if the command was totally ignored. I have tried many different commands after the sudo, and cannot get a response from anything. I even tried "sudo tcsh", which should open up a new shell, but nothing. "sudo ls" also shows nothing, just another prompt.
Last night all of a sudden, my Command Tab has gone haywire. I hit Command Tab and the Application Switcher window comes up and there is this very fast switching going on. Just like a stuck key. I have tried Command Button and the problem still happens (I've only got one Tab key that appears to be working fine when I press/hold it).
Again, this just started last night, I figured a reboot would clear it up. After rebooting it still happens, even with only two apps open.
I'll be the first to admit it, I'm bad with scripts, but I'm trying to figure this script out and have hit a dead end. There is a large list of MV commands to move a specific file into a folder, but the script isn't working when ran all together. But strangely, it will work when i enter it line by line into terminal. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
