Jun 24, 2014Just noticed that new contacts no longer have the fields Spouse and Children. Why have the disappeared and can they be restored?

I have deleted a contact from my list however whenever I type in the name in the 'TO' line of Imessage on Mac is there altough is deleted from the contacts from both Iphone and Mac. the contact has not been used recently. OS X Mavericks :: Can't Upload Contact Archive To ICloud
Nov 30, 2014Through a mistake I deleted all my Contact info from my 2010 i7 iMac (Yosemite) and iCloud.
Because my 2 iPads and 2 iPhones are connected to iCloud all the Contact info is gone, zero.
I have a recent Contact Archive of that info and would like to upload it to my iMac or iCloud.
When I attempt to do this on my iMac using the 'Import' feature the address info shows for a second and disappears.
I have checked Permissions using Disk Utility.
Can I use Time Machine in any way to solve this?
I do have one iPad that has the original Contact info still on it, can that be useful in restoring to iCloud or my iMac?

OS X Mavericks :: Changing Contact Email To Phone?
Jun 28, 2014I have a friend where I have a single convo with and a group convo with via iMessages. There were times where his messages were sent from his number, and other times from his email address. As you may know, on the Mac it keeps it in the same window. However, on the iPhone it'll separate it. So he unchecked his email on his iPhone. So now everything will be in one window with him on my iPhone, as well as the 3rd friend.
But now on my Mac. I can not use the group convo to send him a message. I still receive messages from him in the window that I've had opened for the last year. But I can not use my Mac to send a message to the 2 of them, because he won't receive the message.
With that being said, on the single convo. I was able to click his name and a little window pops open. I was able to select his phone number. It automatically switched over so my messages are now being sent to his phone number. It even displayed "iMessages sent to *phone number*".
However, on the group message. I select his name and the little window only shows the fact that his email address is no longer registered with iMessages and asks me if I want to remove it. No matter what I do, I can not see his phone number as a selection. Nor can I permanently remove his email address from the group convo. It will disappear, but once I click out of the window then back, his email re-appears.
I've tried quitting Messages, rebooting the Mac but I can not change his contact info in the group's convo. I don't want to delete that message just to start a new one. Unless I really have to

Jun 27, 2014I briefly tried to set up Mail to contact the university mail server there, but gave up. So I deleted the account in Mail.
Now, I randomly get messages telling me that Mail is unable to validate the authenticity of NEU's smtp certificate. Every time, I say, 'why are you TRYING to contact NEU's smtp system? I'm not trying to send a message through that mail system! I don't even have an account there anymore!' but of course my computer doesn't know English, and even if it did, it wouldn't know why it does the things it does, so that's a double dose of not getting a response.

OS X Mavericks :: Sync Up Apple Contact Book And Exchange Contacts?
Jun 25, 2014I have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar. I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server). However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account. I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.

At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.

Nov 28, 2010I am trying to sort my files by date and type. I can sort by Modified Date and File Type. Every time I sort by file type, the files are listed alphabetically within their folder type lists. This is not what I want. I want to see all the .rar files in chronological order
As I recall from Windows, I can sort by Modified Date, then Type, and the files will be listed by type, and then secondarily sorted by Date. Is there a way to do this on the Mac?

Jan 7, 2011Am trying to use Mail (version 3.6 on OS 10.5.8) and when I view a message would like to be able the 'To' and 'Cc' fields without having to use Long Headers or Raw Source options (which I found under the View - Message menu). These give far too much unnecessary information, but I need to be able to easily see who else the message has been sent to. This seems really basic for an email program and I suspect it is really obvious, but I've looked everywhere and on the web with no answers!

OS X :: Cannot Access Fields In Disk Utility When Trying To Partition
Apr 13, 2010First off I am new to Mac's and I am trying to repartition my harddrive. i did it once before and was successful and when i tried to adjust the size, windows kept getting errors.
On the advice of my friend he told me to completely wipe out my machine and reinstall Mac OS 10.4. I have since reinstalled SL 10.4 and downloaded bootcamp. However, I do not see a boot icon in my applications or utilities folder, but I do see a disk utilities icon.
When I click that and click the only hard drive that is there and try and partition it, the slide bar will not work for me to divide the hard drive into the size i want and none of the fields or dropdown boxes will work.
MacBook Air :: Cannot Click Links Or Fields In Safari
Apr 20, 2012Just purchased a new MacBook Air for my wife. While it is a huge step-up from the previous macbook, we've run into a very frustrating problem. Every now and then Safari will no longer accept any click on links or the ability to enter data into fields. You tap and click and it's like a brick wall--no response. We've tried forcing a refresh of that page, still won't work. If I quit Safari and then go back to the page, it's works. But unless I quit the app, it just remains an unclickable webpage.
Any thoughts?? I've never encountered this before and it is hard to duplicate as it is not consistent with specific sites or work flow.

Mar 19, 2008i dunno if this is new or everyone already knows bout it, but when i stacked one macbook air on top of the other with the bottom one sleeping, the one stacked on top also goes to sleep even if it was turned on. i tried this on a friends macbook air and this happens. is it coz of the magnetic fields in the hard drive? anyone with 2 macbook airs on hand should definitely try this.
