Jun 7, 2012I have a Korean language keyboard that I'm using with Lion that has a key next to the spacebar for switching language (han/yang = korean/english). I would like to use this key to switch languages rather than apple space. Is there any way to make this happen? I tried changing the keyboard shortcuts, but am unable to do so. The OS doesn't recognize the key.

Jul 1, 2012I want to be able to connect an old Bluetooth device that does not support files or file browsing, just plain upload or download streams (mostly ASCII text). On the PC there is a data capture program which receives the ASCII on a COM port via Bluetooth, but I seem to be stumbling to get this to work in VMWare because it shares the Bluetooth with my iMac, VMWare and Mac OS X both say that it is connected but the device doesn't agree (I have confirmed it does work on a real PC in the same edition of Windows), I am looking for a Mac OS X program to do the ASCII capture instead
The program should be fairly simple - just capture a stream of ASCII data to a text window or file. All that I can find on Mac OS X is file upload or download, but that is not supported by this device.
One thought - could it be that it is the iMac Bluetooth that is not supporting the device? It works fine with a Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle on a PC, but I don't know if that provides the same services as the iMac Bluetooth.
EDIT: Plugging in the Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle to the iMac just chucks everything off Bluetooth, so that's keyboard and mouse / trackpad, which makes the iMac unusable. Unplugging the dongle makes them reconnect. Can't say that I'm particularly impressed by this - why can't Mac OS handle two separate Bluetooth hosts?

Dec 4, 2014i got a problem report pop up from Firefox today, usually it's not an issue but this came up in a strange language, one i had never seen before, every language is sent to English ive checked everything, worried somebody could be accessing my iMac from another location, did the usual net stat, last press & users commands and it hasn't come up with anything untoward, just a little worried about it cos it was really strange.

Oct 13, 2009I have a list in ascii/text format, where columns are separated by "|"'s. I'd like to read this into Numbers but by default it doesn't know what to do with those "|"'s of course. I've heard (though am unable to verify) that Excel has this ability to recognize separator symbols and put it in separate columns. Is there a way to do this with Numbers or any other Apple program?

Jun 20, 2014Apple Mail would recognize the language I would write after typing the first word or two. After a system crash, I can only write in German although the language for Mail is selected as English using Language Switcher. After some time, Mail opens in German again, and the language displayed in Language Switcher is Arabic.
On all my other machines, Mail behaves as ever. Mavericks is being operated in German, Mail in English. Some of the language settings must have been changed.

I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.

Aug 26, 2014I have a 13" MacBook Pro that was purchased in January 2014. Recently I installed the recommended updates for OS Mavericks on my computer. I rebooted the computer as recommended and when I went to login lo and behold my keyboard will not function. None of the keys will work so I couldn't even put in my login password to even see what the problem was. Naturally I went to all the apple forums I could, to find a solution and none of them seem to work. I reset the PRAM and SMC and still cannot get the keyboard to function. While under disk utility the keyboard functions just fine. But It will not function in a regular setting.

Sep 5, 2014I have been using this keyboard shortcut which is Command-Shift-L for bullets in Outlook, Notes and almost any word processing applications. All of a sudden this seems to have gone and now replaced by a Google Search. I tried researching a lot on the internet and found many articles which confirmed that this was indeed a keyboard shortcut but I couldnt find even one which could tell me what happened to it and how to make it work again. I've got so used to this shortcut because my work involves mainly around drafting emails and documents.
I have Macbook Pro Retina 13inch 2013 model & running Mac OSX 10.9.4 OS.
Now I did find one website link which told me how to disable the Safari trigger for this shortcut and I was successful in removing that shortcut. But I am stuck at the point where it's just blank. So now when I press these keys, nothing happens because no shortcut is set to it.
I've already gone through many links which say create paragraphs, some links also say that Option + 8 key works for the bullets but that doesnt work for me either. However, I dont want that too. I would want the original shortcut which was there and how to get it back or even configure it back to the way it was.

Jul 1, 2014I'm guessing it's connected with my recently updating my MacBook Pro (2.9 GHz Intel Core i7) to OS 10.9.4. Whether I open Word by clicking on a Word document, opening it via Spotlight, or directly clicking the application icon itself, my keyboard is changed from Dvorak to the standard American English keyboard. And as if that weren't irritating enough, if I change the keyboard back to Dvorak, opening another Word document while Word is still open causes it to flip back to American English.

OS X Mavericks :: Keyboard And Mouse Lock Up At Startup On IMac
Sep 2, 2014This has just started happening a few days ago. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Every time I have to restart my iMac, the mouse and keyboard freeze. I work around this by unplugging the mouse from the keyboard and plugging it into one of the usb ports on the back of the imac. I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I'm typing on it now because the regular wired keyboard no longer seems to work at all now. I think the bluetooth setting sin system preferences which are all checked, may have something to do with this but not sure. Everything else on the machijne is fine. How can I set things so that I can use my wired keyboard?
