I have a problem because mouse acceleration annoys me while i play games such as counter strike which requiers muscle memory. Is there any way to turn this off? i am using logitech VX revolution mouse and newest OSX.
Yes and I have tried anything in settings of games that I play. There are lots of people who are heaving exact same problem and they haven't found any solution solution except for installing Windows on their macs via bootcamp. I realy dont want to to that.

I open mail and it launches since it is showing in the dock and the mail menu is visible. The main mailbox window is missing and most all of the menus are greyed out, even in the window menu where it allows you to select a window to see the main mail window is not showing up.
I have manually rebuilt the mailbox database and that did not work. I deleted the "Account.plist" file from the ~/library/mail/MailData/ folder and this seem to work. When I launched mail after I deleted this file the Main mail window was there with all my mailbox folders and emails. The only thing missing was the inbox for my main email account. Mail required that a new email account be created otherwise it would quit, I create the email account and everything was fine, until I quit out of mail. The next time I launched it again i was back to not have the main mail window. The only way to get it to come back is to delete the "Account.plist" file again and created the main email account. The only work around I have at this point is not to quit mail.
There is no CD icon on my desktop and it doesn't eject.

I would like to keep the MacOS folder from opening each time I re-boot the computer..How do I prevent a window opening with MacOS files showing when starting the computer?
I have cleared the "History" even though it does not show there. I notice in "Finder" under "Go" there is a "Recent Folders" and it shows there. I have Cleared it from there and restart the computer and "MacOS" folder still opens in the center of the screen or where ever I moved it to before closing it. I have tried a Safe Boot and it still shows when re-starting..I would like to keep the MacOS folder from opening each time I re-boot the computer...

This situation began when I put my Imac on sleep. After, the screen turned on in black whit the cursor but I couldn't do anything.
Then to rebooted the machine, the apple logo and sound began fine but the screen turned off, so moving the mouse the screen turned on in black with cursor.
I'd tried many ways, resetting the PRAM, SMC, repairing the disk and permission, analyzing hardware, repairing fsck files.
Suddenly, when I entered in Verbose mode, mi imac brought into user choose screen and worked fine, but when I shut down and tried to start my mac in the next day, it didn´t work again.

This has just started happening a few days ago. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Every time I have to restart my iMac, the mouse and keyboard freeze. I work around this by unplugging the mouse from the keyboard and plugging it into one of the usb ports on the back of the imac. I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I'm typing on it now because the regular wired keyboard no longer seems to work at all now. I think the bluetooth setting sin system preferences which are all checked, may have something to do with this but not sure. Everything else on the machijne is fine. How can I set things so that I can use my wired keyboard?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2008, 24-inch iMac. This problem started after I installed an OS X Mavericks update (and has continued). Basically, after the screen is asleep for a while, if you come back and move the mouse / tap the keyboard, the desktop never reappears. The screen stays black but the mouse cursor shows up and you can drag it around. I've seen some similar issues that said they could get the app switcher, but that never happens for me. Just mouse cursor and black screen, no matter how long you try to wait it out or tap buttons. The only solution is a cold restart, although I think in the past I was able to fix by turning off energy saver settings for putting the display to sleep. It doesn't happen every time, I'd say it happens over 50% of the time. The problem actually kicked in with one particular App Store update of Mavericks. I believe it was 10.9.3 if I recall correctly.

View 13 Replies View Relatedi have had my macbook go to sleep an not fully wake up, the keyboard, cd drive wake an the screen would just turn the LED on, it brights up but does not show anything.i do NOT think its hardware, i believe the os is just not turining on the screen or speakers. it has done this 2 times an had to hardboot. before i hardboot it, i let it sit for a few minutes to see if it would wake up fully , an tried to close the lid again. also is there a short cut to restart or put it back to sleep so i dont have to hard boot. i dont expect to have this happen again , but if it does a key would be nice
View 1 Replies View RelatedMessages keeps switching the conversation view from "Show Names and Pictures" to just "Show Pictures". This is in the menu under: View > Messages > Show Names and Pictures. I have to change it multiple times a day, including every time I open the app from a closed state.
This is very confusing in group iMessage conversations where all the iMessages are coming from the same grey silhouette icon. The issue is only happening on my Mac mini. It's not happening on my MacBook Air. Both are running Mavericks 10.9.3...So I keep changing the setting here, but it somehow just switches back to Show Pictures only:
I found my dock is gone. When I moved my pointer over the edge of screen where the dock was, the dock does not show up. I went to the Dock preference, it seems that the option "Automatically hidd and show the Dock" is chosen. I turned it off. It shows no difference. And I went to the Dock preference again, the Option is still chosen. And the Mac->Dock-> Turn Hiding Off is not functional. And also the hot key combination. Now I have to went to the lunchpad to see my dock and all my applications. It is really annoying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, i bought a used macbook pro (2,2) 15inch 4gb ram, 320gb hd, and it is in GREAT condition, looks brand new. when i saw the laptop, i made sure everything worked, even the usb ports and all is fine.
when i came home, i formatted, and installed Snow Leopard, did ALL the updates before i did anything else. and i just noticed now when i plugged in my 1tb WD Passport it dosnt show up on the desktop, nor the disk utility, however the hard drive light turns on but when i put my hand on the laptop, it dosnt appear to be 'spinning' up.
i tried plugging in USB stick in both USB ports and it works, shows up just fine.
so i dont think it could be the usb ports..
BUT when i plug the same external hard drive on my new i7 imac it shows up.yesterday, i plugged in the same drive into a friends Mac Pro, and had no problems. but i cant seem to figure this out.
I have just bought a MDP to HDMI adapter and it works fine and carry's sound etc but my desktop is extended.
How do I get the desktop to show up on the TV?
I have looked in the Display settings but can't see anything.

For three weeks now, the windows on my desktop turn blue and separate when I click on a link or open another window. I had the hard drive replaced; Apple diagnostic found nothing. Accidentally discovered it happened when I used my mouse. Scroll only worked forwards, not back or to the side. Replaced mouse with new, identical model. Still happens. Then I used an old mouse from 2003, no scroll wheel, but it seems to work fine.

I have been using WD 1TB external USB hard disk for 4 months with my Macbook with Tiger 10.4 on it. I have plugged in the disk after I purchased without any special formatting or anything, and it worked fine so far. It just took a while, about few minutes, for the Macbook to show it on the desktop every time I got it disconnected and connected again. However, this time, I can not see the disk on the desktop nor on the Finder no matter what. I have plugged it in and out several times, I have restarted the machine etc. Nothing works. The disk is quite empty and it works fine with the PC..no cable problem or and disk failure issue for sure. I can see the disk on the Disk Utility app, but I can neither verify nor mount it...
