Dec 7, 2009I turned on my uMBP today and took it over to my bed, and when I set it on my lap, there was a loud click noise (louder than the normal motion sensor click) and then a quiet clicking noise started up in the left corner. I took a look at the iStat reading and it said 0 rpm for the fan. I'm assuming that the fan just gave out. I took it in to an authorized service provider and he said that he is "concerned that it could be the hard drive." Does that makes sense to anyone? Regardless, it's well under warranty. But now I'm stuck using a crappy PC until I get it back and i'm already in withdrawal!

Aug 29, 2014I recently decided to sync my Safari reading list between devices, using iCloud. Â
When I altered the iCloud settings on my Macbook so that Safari was synced, what happened was not synchronization. Â
What happened was, my up-to-date Macbook Safari reading list (Date X) was replaced with my dated iCloud Safari reading list (Date X minus say 100 days), and the intervening items apparently lost.Â
I need to retrieve the items lost in this synchronization failure.

MacBook Pro :: Pink Lines After Clicking On A Link
May 16, 2012I clicked on a link and received pink lines all over my screen, in the window, the desktop, everywhere. I rebooted the computer and it was all gone so I went back to the link, clicked on it, and pink lines appeared everywhere again. So I took screen shots of the open window with pink lines in it, closed the window and took a screen shot of the desktop that had pink lines all over it. I rebooted the computer all the pink lines were gone so I opened the screen shots and none of the pink lines were in the screen shots either. So I went back to the same link once again and I got pink lines everywhere.

1. Start up MacBook Pro
2. Start Mail
3. in Mail he clicks the following link [URL]Hint: This is from the Welcome Mail from Apple "Congratulations to your new iPad" >> it links to the iPad ManualÂ
4. Safari tries to open the linked PDF - stops after a few seconds
5. WLAN crashes
6. he has to reboot cable-modem an WLAN-Modem
7. Internet + Mail runs fine after restartÂ
I tried to send him the following link: [URL] He could download this PDF - WLAN was alive I sent him this link: [URL]After clicking this link WLAN crashed. WLAN-Modem is a Netgear Router Cable Modem is UPC MacBook Pro with newest Lion installed - he just bought this machine a week ago. Whe compared all the usual settings, i found no misconfiguration - we reset Safari - but no cure.Â

Feb 7, 2012I had saved a webpage on the Safari Reading List. I pulled it up, read a little, and saw it disappeared from the Reading List. I had ot finished reading it, so I decided to re-save it to the list, but the Add Page button on the Reading List window was greyed out. Nothing I did would change the greyed out button to make it functional.Â

Mar 12, 2012I opened safari and all of my tabs/reading list were thrown way outta wack.The reading list is "empty" but has hundreds of greyed out stuff behing the glasses and explanation. Everytime i add something to the list it adds the item multiple times, 1 at first then 2 for the next item ad infinitum.My once polished tabs bar has been riddled with old stuff that I never put there.

Mar 30, 2012As of today, Safari only opens links by bouncing them to the reading list. I have to go find them in there and click on them again to view the link. Why are the links not opening directly in the browser window, the way you'd expect? I haven't changed any prefs or anything like that. I'm on Lion.

Suddenly today, when I click on a link in an email, the browser navigation to that URL no longer works.When I click on the link, the browser comes to the foreground, but the URL is not passed into the browser and whatever was previously in the browser remains, rather than navigating to the linked page.I remember having this issue year ago in the Windows world. I am not aware of any changes to Mail or Firefox preferences.As a test, I changed the default browser to Safari, and the links from emails work normally.

Jun 2, 2010i use silverlight to watch instant netflix but i didn't know it is such a memory hog. i should have noticed that when i watch instant netflix on one window and browsing regularly on the other that the movie would hiccup each time i click on a link in a website or each time i visit a new web page. it doesn't slow down the computer or anything to make it unusaeable. but, i am concerned of the page outs since i don't want my harddrive to work overtime. is this something i have to live with?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Bookmark (Reading) List Disappeared After Updating Safari
Mar 26, 2012I have been using the 'Reading List' as a default Bookmark list as I find it more accessible than the old Bookmark system in Safari. After recently updating Safari my reading list has developed a bug. Firstly my entire list had disappeared (most annoying and inconvenient as I began rely on the list for my continuing study of important references in relation to my business) but I strangely I do get a multiple entry of my last used item. In fact the last time I opened up the list I had about ten duplications of the same bookmark. A recent example is below. My other references (which incidentally, courtesy of iCloud appear on my iPhone bookmarks) have disappeared.

MacBook Pro :: Keys Sticking - Can Hear Constant Beeping Like Clicking On A Link
Aug 20, 2014I don't normally have my sound on, but I have of late. It seems that my keys may be sticking, or trackpad, or mouse .. Â
Symptoms: I can hear constant beeping, like you are clicking on a link that is not working, you get that Ding/beep. It is constant, like your continuing hitting the enter button on a link that is not working.Â
I reboot and the sound stops. I don't think it is the mouse - and I do not always have it turned on. Sometimes also when I log in, when you type password, there are characters already entered, and it keeps going ... I have to hard reboot.Â
As far as I know I have not dropped this laptop, nothing has been dropped on it. I can not see if any of the keys are pushed in, and the trackpad looks normal.Â

I don't have time machine set up or an external hard drive to be able to get it back.Â
