I am used to XP's shortcuts where I can put a link to anything on the desktop. I have not been able to find this for OSX. Here are some examples of shortcuts I would like to create:
1. A shortcut to a document
2. A shortcut to an Xcode project
3. A shortcut to a folder
4. A shortcut to a web page
There isn't an Alias option when I right click on the HD under Devices.

I have a NAS server, when i want to use it, i have to go to the network list in the finder, then click the server to list its volumes. My question is, how do i make a shortcut to that server on my desktop? It seems it is not possible in the finder, but i am open to a terminal hack if necessary.

I've just got this new printer and it's great, but i can't make the ADF (document feeder) scan across the network The display on the printer says that there's a document in the feeder, but when i press scan it always starts to scan the flatbed instead.Â
