I want to make a pdf document I created with Microsoft Word a reading only pdf. I don;t want other to be able to edit, copy or print the test. Any ideas on what to use or how to do it?

I can not get the read out loud to read the whole document , all is activated and I have checked the 'whole document' is clicked in the view menu The reader , reads only the section within a thin lined box, which i have to continue to manually move onto the next group of words My documents are PDF files and windows for mac?

I was just finishing writing an assignment for school. I always save while writing. Well after I was finished I saved and wanted to save as .doc. I pressed "save as" and suddenly pages did not respond. I tried to force quit but it wouldn't do that so I restarted. I thought since I already had saved it it would be okay, buy when I try to open it now I get the message "Document cannot be read, invalid file."

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently moved all my fcpx projects/events to a new Harddrive - I thought I did this correctly by copying/duplicating all projects/events from within FCPX.
When I last used FCPX all the projects/events were there - no issues. Also, when I look at package contents - everything is still there in terms of events and file sizes.
All the library files are on an external hard drive, on an encrypted disk image. Now a week later I have tried to open FCPX and I get the following error
"The document “MND_Z_FCPX” could not be opened. Read-only file system" and nothing will open.
Have checked permissions - these all seem in order. OSX is10.9.5

I'm writing an essay tonight, suppose to be like 7 pages. I'm at about 7 right now, however i've always been one to go...above and beyond.
I know how to do it in microsoft word, however would love to just do it in Pages.
I'd like to find all the "." in the document, which are sized 12 and secretly make them like size 15, or 17...whatever doesn't look too obvious.
In Microsoft word this usually adds me like an extra page, depending how much i've got written down..

How do I do this, scanning a document as a TIFF or using a text recognition program to create a template, then making a place were I can edit text, or add text to the document scanned?

I've just got this new printer and it's great, but i can't make the ADF (document feeder) scan across the network The display on the printer says that there's a document in the feeder, but when i press scan it always starts to scan the flatbed instead.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a Macbook with mac osx 10.5.8. In finder, I do Go>Connect to Server, and I put in my ftp://mywebsite.com and then I log in with my ftp account. I can see what's on my server, but I can't edit the files. How do I make it so I can delete files, make new folders and all of that?
If I log into the FTP server using dreamweaver, I am able to edit the files and make new folders. The same goes for when I use windows explorer - I can edit and make new files. :/ Is there some kind of setting that I'm missing?
Also, I've used this "connect to server" thing for my school's webhost too and it worked the way I want it to, except their login wasn't ftp, it is [URL] to log in.
Whenever I put dvds in my mac pro, the computer says that dvds are not readable. But I could play those dvds with my friend's mac. But CDs are readable and my computer totally works fine with CDs. How can I make my computer be able to read dvds?

how to embed an image with a link, or embed a Microsoft Word document with a hyperlink built within the document -- not as an attachment into my email -- but where it shows as the email content when opened! Does ANYONE know the secret? Can it be done, or not? My PC clients do it all the time easily. Then I want to be able to send the embedded image/document (not as an attachment, but visable within the email when opened) to many email contacts at once, BUT the individuals receiving them DO NOT SEE the other email contacts.

When I insert them it tries to read it then after a few seconds it just spits them back out. Occasionally commercial DVDs will read and mount fine, but this seems to be rare.

I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm buying an external hard drive to use as a backup for my MacBook but also as a network drive that all the computers connected to my router (Airport Extreme) can use. There are two MacBooks and two PCs that connect to the network. I only need my MacBook to be able to write to the hard drive but I need the two PCs to be able to access and use the files on the hard drive. I was going to get a 1TB external and give it two partitions. The first partition is going to be the Time Machine backup for my MacBook and the other will be accessed by all computers on the network. What format will the second partition need to be so that both MacBooks and both PCs can view and use the files? Also what external hard drive would you recommend?

there my mac for some time has not been able to play dvds. It will attempt to read them, but then just spit it out after some time, if I try a bunch of times 6-8, I can sometimes get it to work, however, this rarely does.

Was able to read and write. Suddenly I am only able to read though. I go into the "Get Info" pane and the option to choose whether I want to read and write, or read only is gone, and all that it says is "You can read only". getting this back to read and write is really appreciated. I really need this disk.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to write xmp data to my photo's, when I got errors on photo's in certain folders. ?Writing XMP Metadata? did not complete successfully. It seems all jpegs in a few particular folders have generate this error. I then noticed all those files were lacking a creation date. When trying to copy the "image taken on" date to the "creation date", using A Better Attributes, I didn't appear to have the right permissions.
Now this is, to me at least, the weirdest part: when I open Get Info on any of the images, it says "You can only read", even though all privileges are set to Read & Write (screenshot attached). The folder itself says "You can read and write". So far I've only seen this on files/folders on an external hard drive, formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). It's a WD My Book, connected via USB through a hub. Anyone ever seen this before? Is there anything I could try to fix this?
As the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.
