so i have an 802.11G Wireless setup at home, and for some reason my Belkin Router seems to think my Macbook has two MAC Addresses and assigns it two I.P. addresses too. This doesn't cause me any issues, other than when i want to set up port forwarding in Torrent clients such as Vuze or Transmission i never know which IP address to use.
How is this even possible? None of my other Mac's do it, so its not a problem with my router, which piece of Wireless networking hardware in the 17" Unibody Macbook Pro could have two distinct MAC Addresses, i didn't think that was even possible.
I have a few hundred email addresses built up in my email address history. Naturally, as I begin to enter an email address in the "To" box a list of addresses automatically populates based on the letters I am typing. Most of the 600+ email addresses are not currently in my address book; nor do I want them to be. But....is there a way to export these addresses to a spreadsheet or list so I can sort through without having to add them to my address book?
I have had a Macbook for 3 years and have used Mac Mail extensively throughout where it has stored almost every email address I ever need in it's memory so that when I start typing it fills in the options of all the people with that email address. These are obviously not all stored in my Address Book.Well I just bought a new Macbook Pro (loving it!) and of course the Mail app does not have all those email addresses. Is there a way to export them from my old Macbook?
I'm running Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista using Parallels on my MacBook. I'm supposed to assign IP addresses to both (this is a static IP address, if I'm not mistaken), as well as preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server. I know how to get to the IPv4 and IPv6 configuration areas in Local Area Connection Properties, but I have no idea what the difference is between the two. Furthermore, when I go to IPv4 or IPv6 Properties, I click on, "Use the following IP address, " but I have no idea what IP address to use. Is it the IP address of the MacBook, or do I simply choose a brand new IP address for both machines? Plus, how do I figure out the preferred DNS and alternate DNS servers? I know how to do ipconfig /all and all that, but in therm of assigning a brand new address/DNS server, I don't know what to do.
Another thing, whenever I try to configure a new IP address, it tells me it's an Unidentified Network. Should I be worried about this?
Finally, I'm definitely concerned about messing with the IP address of my MacBook. Although I won't give out my IP address verbatim, the IP address for the MacBook is similar to 24.158.240.88, and I tried altering it manually and couldn't connect to the internet anymore. Should I do anything with that IP address? Or should I only concern myself with the IP address of my Server 2008 and Vista machines? I've heard that the IP can be in the range of my router, what does that mean? How do I find out my router's IP? Is it the same as the IP for my MacBook? Am I way off here?
I was wondering if in Mac OS X (10.4 and 10.6) If there is a way to redirect web addresses. My Wife and I's anniversary is coming up. and I wanted to redirect an everyday site she goes to (say, Facebook) to a custom address (to a page saying how glad I am to be married to her, love her etc.)
If I could preferably write a script and schedule it with chron that would be awesome. (so that the redirecting starts during the day when I'm away at work, and then a few hours later it can switch back)
I mean in terms of, in Windows Explorer, you can type C:/Drive/Whatever and then get there. This can be helpful, especially in a networking environment. I like finder but I wish there was a way to navigate via pathways. Is there one?
Apple Mail caches addresses I sent mail to, so it has many more addresses in the list when I start to type a name in the To: or Cc: field than are in my address book. Some of these addresses are no longer accurate. Is there a way to either clear the cache totally, or remove certain ones?
It's really annoying having to type someone's name and scroll through a huge list of their email addresses they've had over the who knows how long and find the right one, when all the time their only correct address is accurate in the address book anyway.

Need to set up an ip for work and a different ip for home. Seems airport utility only allows one ip for the computer, and then assigns that ip to all networks. Can I set ip addresses for particle networks?
I tend to "save" email addresses by remembering the first few characters, and allowing Mail to fill in the rest, from some list of addresses it saves based on who I've sent mail to in the past.
WHERE is this list saved? I now want to move to a new Mac, and I don't want to lose all my "almost saved" email addresses.
I am new to Mac and want to print addresses of family and friends on envelopes for Christmas mailing. On my PC, I was able to enter addresses into a spreadsheet and from there I could print adhesive labels to affix to envelopes. My new printer won't print labels, but it is able to print directly on envelopes. I had no extra software, just Microsoft Works. Do I have to buy software to do this, or is there a way to do this with my Macmini? It has iWorks and Pages.
I'm using mail 2.1.3 on a G4 powerbook running Mac os 10.4.11. I've switched mail servers today, and all my email addresses are now imap instead of pop. That meant I had to create new email accounts in mail, and as I did, I deleted the old ones, as I would no longer need them. Unfortunately, All of my email seems to have gone with all the old pop accounts. Did I just lose all my email??? I really need to get some of it back, its been a few months since I last backed up. I did have all of my accounts set to not delete trash for 30 days, so I'm hoping its still some where. Am I screwed? Why would Apple not warn me heavily before doing something BIG like deleting all of my email?
It seems that someone is logging on to our wireless network and we have tried changing passwords on wireless and modem with no success as they are still getting in and stealing our broadband.
This wouldn't be the end of the world if we had unlimited broadband access but alas in Australia it's 'unlimited' but only until you use up your 10gb allowance at which point your access speed will revert to dialup - ridiculous I know, especially when I'm used to unlimited actually meaning unlimited in the UK, but we've got to live with it.
So as we're now almost at our monthly limit I'm needing to stop this going on. I've spoken to our internet service provider and my local apple store and they have suggested that I need to add all the laptops allowed to access the network to the airport utility using their MAC addresses but I can't work out how to do this and the mac store can't tell me.
My internet service provider believes it's someone on a playstation using it.
I've spoken to our neighbours in the building but everyone has denied it so I'm just going to have to block everyone.
I need to export all my addresses to work on a email blast, something like constant contact or ewebber. Is there a easy way to do this without copy and pasting each one?
I am using a second hard drive with OSX and I am wondering where the addresses are on the other hard drive. Can I import them to the address book on my other hard drive. Can I import my emails from the one mail app to the other hard drive also.
The service shows running but will not give an IP address to Mac or PC. As the leases are running out on the machines they are not being renewed. I restarted the service and then the server. Then I reset the DHCP Client list.I turned on a computer lab so that they would all grab a new address.... none of them did. I logged on to a computer and told it to renew its DHCP address and nadda. If i assign a static ip they are fine
I just installed Lion and Mail 5.2. My sent messages aren't showing the addressee or the Cc recipients. I think everything is checked off in View>Message Attributes, although most of the items are grayed out. I tried Classic View from Mail Preferences but it didn't correct this. What setting can I change to be able to see addressees in the Sent Message folder?
