OS X V10.7 Lion :: Sent Messages Don't Show Addresses Or Cc
Apr 2, 2012
I just installed Lion and Mail 5.2. My sent messages aren't showing the addressee or the Cc recipients. I think everything is checked off in View>Message Attributes, although most of the items are grayed out. I tried Classic View from Mail Preferences but it didn't correct this. What setting can I change to be able to see addressees in the Sent Message folder?
Messages will suddenly not show any accounts and won't let me add them or log in unless I uninstall and reinstall. Why is it crashing in a way that wipes it clear of EVERYTHING?

I use clang-3.1 in C++11 mode, with -stdlib=libc++, without any IDE, just on the command line. Â
My problem is: my c++ code is expected to throw exceptions (I'm testing it), but the Terminal does not print out the exception messages. Instead of my nice exception messages (which I see with clang-3.1 on linux), I have things like: "terminate called throwing an exceptionAbort trap:"Â
How should I act on the environment of the code to display those exception messages? I don't want to change the code.Â
In old style view. Every time I touch a message, it turns to read even if I haven't double clicked to "open it". I presume this is because it is previewing but I don't want it to do this. Also, every time I click on "inbox" to look at my messages, the top message in the list automatically changes to read. Again, I haven't opened the email and in this case I haven't even touched it! Can I TURN OFF PREVIEW? I've been looking around but can't seem to do this.
I have recently bought a Mac Book Pro with Max OS X on it. I use a web based outlook to recieve emails from wrok. When composing a new email, and selecting Contacts, my email addresses dont show up.
Messages keeps switching the conversation view from "Show Names and Pictures" to just "Show Pictures". This is in the menu under: View > Messages > Show Names and Pictures. I have to change it multiple times a day, including every time I open the app from a closed state.
This is very confusing in group iMessage conversations where all the iMessages are coming from the same grey silhouette icon. The issue is only happening on my Mac mini. It's not happening on my MacBook Air. Both are running Mavericks 10.9.3...So I keep changing the setting here, but it somehow just switches back to Show Pictures only:
Messages I sent from my IMac using my Fuse email account don't show up in my sent messages on my IPad mail app and visa versa. I have icloud setup for both my IMac and IPad. My iphone behaves the same way as my ipad. Despite having iCloud enabled for mail on all three devices the sent mail does not sync or show up on any device except the one it was sent from. Is there a way to make the sent messages folder on all 3 devices show all the sent messages (for some recent timer period)?
How can you show a list of contacts (or buddies if you're using another IM/Chat like Yahoo) that is docked in, connected to, separate column or sub-window of the main Chat window...
I looked through all the Menu bar items and preferences and didn't see a single thing. If I activate my Yahoo chat profile/user a floating window pops up, but I can't find any info regarding combining the 2 windows / showing all info in 1 window.

Using Messages I sent a text to my wife's iPhone 4S. It starts a new screen. How do I send a message so it just appends that message to all the others she's been getting from me?

Originally, notifications from Messages.app would show the contact name sending the message. I'm not sure what caused it to stop, but now all notifications show up as the phone number of the contact. In the actual app, the names look fine. Is there some way to get contact names to show up again?
Is there any way to make the Messages app show names and pictures by default in groups? It's kind of annoying to have to set that every time. I'm hoping Yosemite may add this option.
Need to set up an ip for work and a different ip for home. Seems airport utility only allows one ip for the computer, and then assigns that ip to all networks. Can I set ip addresses for particle networks?
I checked the Address Book and specified I wanted the email addresses sorted by first name but it didn't change anything and Mail Mail address book didn't change either. How do I sort email addresses?
I have had two e-mail addresses with Mobile Me. With the new OS, is it possible to have both accounts show up simultaneously in the mail application or do I have to log in and out to see each one separately?
The dropdown "to" box in Mail contains old email addresses I no longer have.  How to I clean up the list of MY old emails. Not the ones I have received from.
Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut so I automatically fill out (i.e.) login information/email addresses instead of have to type the whole thing.Â
I frequently fill out my private and work email and would like to make that faster. Like on the iOS you can crate short words that is replaced with a long word when you fill out forms etc.

Is it possible to create more than one email address for the same user? I want to be able to distinguish between emails originating from my website, or an email client as well as to identify different tasks for the same user - one for office administration, general information, etc...Â
I'd prefer to avoid creating non-existant "users" to represent tasks, if possible.
My sister has former eMail addresses which are no longer functional. They are NOT in the Address Book app. Yet one of them always comes up as the default. Yes, her current address is already in the Address Book app. I'd like some way to permanently delete her two non-functional addresses from system memory.Â

In an effort to make Mail more gmail-like, I selected the "View>Organize by thread" option. However, this only seems to group messages in my inbox and doesn't include my sent messages within the same conversation.
Is this how threaded messages are supposed to work? Just one side of a conversation? Or is there a setting to get my sent messages to show up in the threaded conversation?
I am using Mac Mail to check my gmail acct via IMAP. I am using the settings specified by google. I have selected the appropriate folders and mapped them using the "Use this folder for..." menu item. My sent messages are both in the Sent folder (for a while, then they disappear) and below in my Gmail>Sent Mail folder (always current). I have the option selected to store them on the server.
I'm trying to forward an email to multiple addresses. I want to be able to view my address book and click on the names I want to the email sent to. How can I do this. Have a MacBook Pro.
I recently discovered that many random email addresses are being added to my address book. The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant. Â

I have had this issue with my address book for a while in that it creates new entries with just an email address as the actual entry and then hundreds of other email addresses from address book as this entry's additional email addresses.Â
At the same time I had an issue with Apple Mail that I thought was unrelated but now I am not that sure anymore. When I turn Apple Mail on, it sends out emails that look like an endless chain of responses (spam) to the same email that advertises all kinds of stuff.Â
When I first noticed the issue I turned Mail off (a year ago). After updating to Lion I tried to use mail again but had the same issue and have not been using it since. But I appear to still find new entries in my address book all the time.Â
I ran some software (ClamX) but wasn't able to find any malware so far. I can't imagine someone hacking into my machine and doing all this my hand. For what?Â
So I am wondering whether anyone has had similar symptoms on their Mac?
When I am sending an email and I click on my "from" drop down list, their are several addresses in there that were at one time, an alias for my .me account. I have deleted those from the accounts but they are still showing in my drop down list and I would like to get rid of them.
The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.
