I have reinstalled the OS twice now and I am running 10.5.1. Oddly enough sometimes the minimize button just becomes greyed out and I have to closed the app and reopen it. It seem to happen to all apps including finder.
View 8 Repliesthis problem just started for me a couple days ago. I cannot tell what action causes it, but now restarting and resetting my PRAM settings does not fix it. I also tried a fix I read where I created a login item that resets the audio. I ALSO tried plugging in headphones. I am running OSX Lion 10.7.4.Â

I have the dreaded greyed out volume ison on a late 2009 mac mini that has been upgraded to Lion OSX. I have read many people are having this issue. I have tried various so called fixes for this issue but the problem remains. This should have been picked up by Apple a long time ago- come on Apple.

Macbook Pro 13' (late 2011, I think) and its operating system. I am having problem with the speakers. I had no trouble with it when I bought in December 2011, even when I updated the OS 10.7.4. But when I upgraded its RAM from 4gig to 8, that was when trouble started. Everytime I boot, the speaker icon is visible at the start, but when the wifi and battery icons appear, the speaker icon greys out. No sound come out from the speakers. When I checked the speaker section in the System Preference, the buttons are also greyed out.

So i have it enabled, and that's great and all.
But the thing is, what are you supposed to do if you have more than one thing minimized? say 2 Safari Windows? Or the steam beta with 3 chats?
When you click to maximize you only get one, and then nothing else happens if you keep clicking with others minimized in there
Expose is nice but and you can right click on it, but is that it?
Can the smaller/bigger icon be activated for mail composition. Can't get it working in mac mail. Using latest OSX.

Is this behaviour normal? If so, why? Btw, if I right click the Finder icon in the dock, the menu item "Hide" is greyed out.

Since the update i can minimize other apps by double clicking the toolbar of the app - camino, littlesnapper, speedownload .... but not finder or safari - why? anyone else? it used to work fine....

I have absolutely no idea how it happened but i have suddenly got upwards of 1000 deleted emails showing in my Inbox, greyed-out. I cant move them or do anything else with them, much less remove them.Â
I tried Cmd-Z when it happened, nothing happened, then I listed them by sender (Facebook) and tried to move them to Trash with no luck either. Â

Alright, so work bought me a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. I had been used to using Leopard on my home machine and the iMac I was using before for work. In Leopard and older OS X's - you could double click the name of the window and it would minimize. Now with Snow Leopard...it doesn't work. Am I going crazy or is it hidden somewhere?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep having pages suddenly minimize when I didn't tell it too. This happens most frequently in Safari but also with Excel, Word and anything else I have open. Also, when I'm scrolling down a page, suddenly the page behind it will show up. It isn't because I accidentally scrolled over there. Maybe these little glitches need to be handled by the Genius Bar at an Apple Store. I'd like to avoid that, if possible.

i'm trying to get the file size displayed in the finder.i can right click on an individual file to 'get info' and find the size, but can the size be displayed routinely in the finder? i tried to 'view options' but 'size' and 'calculate size' are greyed out and cannot be checked.

I installed and uninstalled Aqua Connect Trial today (Terminal Server / Remote Desktop for Mac) and I'm fairly certain I now have 2 major issues because of it.Googled for the past hour for a solution but found nothing so far.
- in the menu the Sleep item is greyed out. I cannot click it, the keyboard shortcut for sleep doesn't work and pressing the power button does nothing
- all my animations aren't smooth anymore like expose, dock, dashboard, etc

I've been searching everywhere for a solution to this: For a while I've been downloading audio plays, which come in about 30 tracks and which I put onto a CD then re-import after joining all the tracks to make them more manageable. View 1 Replies View RelatedThis seems to be an ongoing problem and you can see from my other posts that it is still not resolved: I have a restored previous Itunes library now appearing in my Itunes application, but when I click on any music within it, a box comes up saying: "The song can not be used because the original file could not be found, would you like to locate it?" When I click on this, it just takes me to the 'Music' file which is completley empty. I am scared to connect my Ipod in case I lose all that is on there as well and can not find the 'manually manage music' in preferences. I also have a brand new Ipad that I need to sync with ITUnes. I am also concerned about connecting my external hard drive for the same reason as I can not find anywhere in Time machine preferences that will turn off the automatic download once the external hard drive is connected. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 & Itunes 10?

View 16 Replies View Relatedso this has been bugging me ever since I made the switch. No this isn't a complaint about how the red X does not work like in Windows in closing an application. This is about hitting the red X to close the window which is what it's supposed to do, but then having the window go minimize in the dock instead of closing. Sometimes it takes two hits of the button after being minimized to finally close it.
This doesn't always happen but when it does it is annoying as hell. am I the only one experiencing this issue? Or is it purposely made that way?
For the life of me I can't figure out why this feature is still here. I've been searching for ways people use it, but I can't really find much. Any time I need to clear things, I just hide them. The only thing I can come up with is in the event that someone wants to hide just one of an application's window. But also, it seems inefficient. There's a keyboard shortcut to minimize windows, but there doesn't seem to be one to bring it back. Most of the time, it's just annoying because I accidentally click it. How do you use the minimize function if at all?

FYI Just had a look at the sgcreenshot now that its been uploaded and its considerably brighter than the actual screen. In reality the top menu bar is almost completely occluded and the tone graduates out from about 90% black at the top to around 10% black at the centre of screen. Â
