OS X :: Keeping Pics In Order When Transferring To Disc?
Dec 17, 2010
I have been scanning old pictures into iPhoto, adjusting the dates to put them in chronological order, and merging into events by years. In iPhoto, the pictures are in the order I want in each Event per year. However, each time I try to export the events to the Burn Folder in prep for burning to dvd, they arrive in Burn Folder all out of order! Instead of 1973 - 1974 - 1975 - 1976, they are all mixed up. I've taken the time to go to Photos and Adjust Dates on all of the hundreds of photos, yet that order does not transfer to a folder. WHAT do I need to do?
How do I keep files that are in a folder in order? For example if I open a folder the files are scattered and i have to scroll around left to right and up and down.
I tried right clicking and messing around with the "Show View Options" but it still doesn't seem to work.
I am wondering if it is possible to put pictures from my desktop on a flash drive and transferring over to this mac book pro.is that possible to do and if so how do i store them do i put them in iphoto and if so how? Â

I just bought a new MacBook Pro. I'm trying to transfer my files from my old computer, which uses Tiger, to the new computer. But I can't use CDs because my computer is dented and the CD drive is closed (it asks me to insert Mac OS X Install DVD into my old computer).
I have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. See an attached example screenshot for Erykah Badu's Baduizm Album.
There's something that's been bugging me for ages, literally years:
I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.
I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)Â

Up until recently when I had a folder open it would show the file icons as the file (i.e. a thumbnail of a picture would be the icon of the jpg file). Now it shows the preview icon, the program it would use to access the file. How do I set it back to show the thumbnails?
I have imac 09 (OS X 10.5.8) and want to upload pics (Raw-CR2) from my canon rebel t2i. When I try it says the file is unrecognizable. My first set of pics were not RAW and they uploaded just fine this only happened when I formatted the card and set it to RAW. Not sure what the problem is.
I'm just about to take delivery of a new iMac 24" that will be running Snow Leopard. It will also have Aperture 2 on it.
My question probably is a stupid one. What is the best way to import all my pics from my old MacBook that has Aperture 1.5 on it? This old MacBook is backed up always to an external firwire drive which I can in turn hook up to the new iMac. I'm assuming (= hoping) that Aperture 2 will just have some kind of import option that will do all the work for me. Or is this too much to expect?
So I have moved all of my photos from my pc over to my mac harddrive. When I look for the pictures in Finder it uses Preview to open the pictures. To see them in iPhoto I guess I have to import all of the pictures? Is that correct? If I do this the pics will be on my machine twice?
Now let's say I have new pics on a camera that i'm trying to get on my machine. Is the only way to import into iPhoto or is there a way I can get the pics into my pre-existing folders?
In windows while surfing the web you can right click on a picture of something and it'll give you the option to print picture. Is there no easy way to do this in Mac OS X? The easieast way i've found was to copy and paste it into a word file then print.
So I went got some professional pictures taken of me and the photographer burned them to dick using a PC... When I go to insert the Cd in my Macbook pro it tells me that the cd is blank. I can put the same Cd in my sisters PC and it will open right up. Strange huh? What am I doing wrong?
So how hard would it be to install an SSD in the second optical drive? is it easier then trying to put it in a tray/ at least more beneficial? Does anyone have pictures of how they did either of these things? I am looking to do this cheap/free i know I will probably need to buy an sata and power cable, but is there a safe way to secure the drive for free or very cheap, ie not buying a specific adapter tray or bracket?
My 2008 aluminum MBP 15" is not letting the express card stay in. It won't stay and after search for answers to questions, want to open it and check out the express slot for myself. Done quite a bit of my own work before(Like replacing memory slots), but like to know what something is going to look like before going in.
The problem is that when all I have is safari windows open, expose keeps lining them side by side instead of spreading them out. In the first pic you'll see what I mean. If I open something else along with the safari windows though, it will spread them like normal, second pic for example. I think it probably happened after one of the last updates.
i use Preview to open most of my pics outside of iPhoto. my question is this- how can i get the icons of all my jpegs to show a little thumbnail of the actual pic? right now, i don't know what the pic is until i open it because all that is displayed is the generic thumbnail icon for preview. a bit of a pain...
How do I download pictures to mac os x with sd card? I've been using a usb port but I have a video on my camera that is too long and it shuts off before it downloads. My friend uses windows and he just takes the sd card out of the camera and plugs it into a slot and downloads the pics. I can't do that on my mac os x.
Sometimes my MBP gets these faint black lines that seem to start at the bottom on the screen and fade away as the near the top of the screen. I took a picture. Anyone know what causes these?
Do the older macbook pro's like the Santa Rosa have liquid damage detection sensors? Or is just in the newer ones?
A year ago I spilled a tiny amount of beer on it and only a few drops got under 2 or 3 keys. I quickly popped them off, dried the area and everything was fine. My gpu failed recently due to the whole Nvidia thing and I had to ship it off to Apple. So I was wondering if they will be able to tell there was a spill and void my apple care warranty even though the failure was not caused by this?
I'm really worried because it was only a few drops and it did not leave any residue...
Just wanted to let my fellow macbook/pro fans out there that this palmrest rocks! I installed it on my MBP 13 and the color matching is 99% perfect and you can barely tell it's an add on. This also came with a trackpad protector. The build on this thing is spectacular, I highly recommend it. I bought it at MicroCenter for 19.99. The only thing I'm looking for now is a bottom skin/protector. I won't buy the invisible shield on basis that it's too expensive and I'm not going to hose down my laptop to put it on.
Just got a mac book pro and getting used to it. Recently got married and while we were hanging out with our friends they stuck each of their camera memory cards into our mac and transferred all the videos and pics on to the computer. Now I'm home and I want to transfer all those pics/videos on to our external hard drive. I've tried everything! I've tried exporting...I've tried dragging the pics. Nothing will work. The weird thing is, I'm able to move pics from the HD over to my computer but not vice versa.
