So recently my mac has decided to hide my Cursor/Pointer while typing, it doesn't really bother me much when i am browsing the web, But when i start to talk to my friends online then i have problems.
So when I'm typing to a friend the IM ( MSN ) hides the cursor so after i finished typing and press Enter then the message will send then realizing i have made a mistake or want to add a quick message on to the IM then i must have to click on the type box again because it dont keep init for some reason.
So i have looked in System Preferences and can't find nothing to turn this off.
I have a MacBook with MacOS 10.5.5 The cursor will jump randomly when typing in programs such as Word or e-mail programs. I haven't been able to find a cure.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Snow Leopard on a new MacBook Pro. I have noticed that often when I am typing, the cursor will jump to another location. So, I might be typing on a line and then suddenly, the cursor will jump to a line, usually above the line that I had been typing on.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got this new 17" powerbook two months ago. Everything seemed fine until this past weekend when I tried to do some work on it. No matter the program, Word, Quark etc., whenever i go to type in sentences or paragraphs, suddenly the cursor will jump to another area of the paragraph. There seems to be no consistency and I can't figure the cause.
I checked all the preferences and that doesn't seem to change it.
Could I have a faulty keyboard? Has anyone else heard of this and know what to do.
Have done a search on this but only found the one post that stated the obvious to my problem. Safari keeps stalling just after http:// it stalls for a about 15 secs then carrys on with going to the address. I've reset safari done the obvious stuff used onyx.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have hit the key accidently instead of return and poof, Safari quits unexpectedly. Forward slashes are no problem but Backslashes cause an instant quit. It doesn't happen all the time, but just today I hit the key accidently and Safari quit. I reloaded it up again and the first thing I did was type a backslash. Again instant quit. Upon trying it again, it didn't quit.
The Backslash must be typed in the Google search box to cause the sudden quit.

I usually have several tabs open in Safari. Sometimes when I reopen safari, it only opens 1 or 2 of my tabs, and then I have to dig through my history to find the other pages. This is at least the 3rd time this has happened and I'm getting sick of it.

How do I update my iPhone to iOS 5 without losing all of my apps?

For the last two weeks, when using Safari, the top bar which shows the word Safari, File etc (can't remember what it is called) disappears unless I move my cursor up to it. I have checked Safari preferences and System preferences and can't figure out how to stop it from disappearing. I suspect it is a check box.Â
I have tried to check the "view" option to hide/show and neither solves the problem.Â

I have a 2009 13 inch MBP with 4G of RAM. Its loaded with the current version of Snow Leopard, version 5.1.5 of Safari and version 4.5 0f the Mail App. The screen of the MBP freezes up 3 - 4 times per day. Ninety percent of the time Safari is open when this happens (some of the time, the Mail App is open as well. The remainder of the time I may have another browser open, but the Mail app is open. I can move the cursor around the screen and "force quit" any open applications except Mail and Safari when this happens. The icons for Safari and the Mail App in my Dock turn grey if I click on them. Otherwise the spinning pizza wheel shows up. I have to use the power button to turn off and restart the machine.
I have tried resetting the PRAM. I also got a couple of error messages concerning Hazel (v3.1.1) via Growl on one occasion. Simply stated that there was an error when Hazel started to run, checking .docx files for Music and video. (Hazel runs from startup and I have rules set up to remove partial and duplicate downloads and clear all Trash files within a set period). I uninstalled Hazel, but the freezing still occurs. The apps I have running most of the day are Mail, a browser, Omnifocus, Preview and either Pages or Word in Office for Mac 2011. I back up a couple of times a day using Time Machine and every couple of days update a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

Since last night's Mac OS upgrade (I use Lion), the cursor in Safari is a constantly spinning beachball. How can I turn it back into an arrow? Safari is still working, by the way--but the beachball keeps spinning.

Everything was fine. Then I ran the software update and there was Safari 4.0.5 and I decided to update. After my iMac had restarted, the OS went completely berserk. If I click the dropdown menus, they start to flicker and run trough over and over again by itself and I can't click anything. My mouse buttons do straight things, bring up the finder and then I can't even go through the folders. I can't write with my keyboard, it just gives me random letters and I can't delete them. I mean the computer went completely crazy. I've never seen anything like this and I've used this iMac perfectly now almost two years. Everything is just flashing, flickering, jamming, cursor disappearing and doing straight things, I can't do pretty much anything. This has to be a virus, right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone come across this? I 've been having it a lot recently on my imac, not my pbook though, and I can't seem to find how to fix it... very strange behaviour, as soon as you start writing the cursor vanishes...make for some very hard writing I tell you...
Well, that's ms, they might even have it as an option somewhere that I cannot find...
I have a website that features a lot of Flash. [URL]
Lately, when viewing my site in Safari I've found that the pointing finger cursor will not show when I hover over a text link in a Flash object.
Curiously this only occurs with some of the links.
The arrow cursor shows and the link still works. The finger shows up on all the lnks using Firefox so it seems to be a Safari/Flash problem.Â

My iMac developed an issue where the cursor is impossible to control (jumps) and pages in all programs will scroll on their own.It occurs even when the mouse and keyboard are disabled, so it is not a hardware problem with those devices.

You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

Mail basically is running alright, but when I type in the body of a message, it takes forever. Typing is fine in other programs, so I am at a loss for figuring this out. Since I only have been back in the Mac environment for a bit over a month, I am struggling to relearn the ins and outs of maintaining my iMac.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy imac starts typing by itself it usually starts in safari and if I open any other program it will continue in that. It also continuously toggles rapidly between items in the lists of drop down menus. Other weird stuff happening too like if I put it to sleep and re-login it will delete any text I try to put in the password box.

I am trying to see if anyone else has this problem. I am a two finger typer, but type fairly fast. I write a lot on my computer, every day. Generally, I look at the keyboard when typing. I also tend to type hard, but this issue is there even when I try to type softer.
My problem is that I'll type a paragraph and then look up to proof my text and a significant number of characters are missing. This has continued with three different systems and multiple keyboards (wired and wireless). Apparently, the problem is me, but I am still fascinated by this matter.
I spent a tremendous amount of wasted time adding characters that are missing. Given I type with two fingers, AND I stare at the keyboard, I cannot fathom how so many characters do not appear.
So far on this posting, I have had to add five missing characters. Just imagine how many corrections I have to make in a year. This single problem must cost me days of wasted time.
If you have any suggestions, I am open to anything. I have even thought of filming my typing to assure I hit each key, but could not get a good camera angle. I would need to use at least two cameras.
I'm in my first year of chemistry in high school, and want to start typing my notes. So how would I go about typing deltas, degrees, and such?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've already tried basic methods of resolving this issue i.e. resetting and unplugging and replugging the keyboard and my keyboard still won't type letters or numbers. The only kind of response I get by typing the keys is the keyboard will performing shortcut commands like save and open, etc. without holding control or alt, it does it when I press the letter keys by themselves.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe MBP is such a beautiful machine made of aluminium, that I'd feel bad if I happened to scratch up the palm rests with my watch. When I was trying out a machine in the store yesterday, I noticed I had to pay special attention to weather or not my watch (with a metal band) would scratch the palm rests. Do any of you who wear watches with metal bands have issues with scratches/damage? And no, I won't stop wearing a watch or switch to a band made of silk to accommodate the MBP.
