I bought SL for my home computer but want to install it also on my work computer since it is taking long for the IT people to decide when to move to SL.
Can I just take my CD and install it on my work computer? Will this cause any problems such as not able to download software updates and such?
I set up the icloud on to my computers, now I cannot connect my iphone to my computers, I get a err message saying it is drawing to much power from my computers, whats up?I didn't have this problem before and it is on both my imac and my macbook.
I just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.
But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.
Im trying to get on the pc here on my home network I cant seem to find it and my pc cant find me??? I have my office set up that works fine, but at home no luck... I dont remember how I set my mac up to see the office pc's but i dont think it was this much of a pain
I have been pondering building a LAN for a Computer System that is used for Photography Editing/Printing and Videography this will be for multiple MAC computers which will share a mass storage drive and accommodate a print server capable of addressing 6 Epson Stylus Pro printers with print expansion to 10 printers. The beginning network will consist of 2 iMACs, 3 MAC Pro's and 1 MAC Book. The Network server needs to be at least 2 TB with expansion capabilities. In addition, the Server must be able to address up to 8 MAC computers. I have been searching the WWW as well as various manufactures for information but after hours of searching and reading they all claim to be capable of doing what I desire. I am interested in feedback from MAC users who have experience in this area and have positive results. If you have built a similar system and can recommend the Hardware/Software that has functioned with your MAC equipment I would be interested in your results and recommendations. Finances are not an issue so going cheap is not my intent, speed, reliability and expandability are key factors.
I have an old imac swivel head g4 and am about to get a mac mini intel.
I use my computer mostly for watching movies and editing video with FCP.
Can I link the two together to shorten rendering time or get any benefit out of the two machines working together or should I sell the g4 for $20 and buy a dvd to watch on my new mini?
so i have all my music on one computer and on my iphone, but i want to know how to go to another computer and get songs off that one without losing my original library,
When I open finder and click network, I don't see my respective other Mac. The iMac doesn't show the Powerbook there, and the Powerbook doesn't show the iMac. Both machines list my XP machine though. I can go to "go connect to server" under finder and enter computer name or IP address, and it does connect to the other Mac. However, why isn't it just showing up under network? Yes, I do have file sharing on.
I have 3 computers: 1 Desktop Windows, 1 Macbook (alum), 1 Macbook Pro. I also have a PS3. Looking to setup network storage but not sure what my options are. I'm aware of network storage devices which backup and share, but can I setup the same thing with an extra hard drive in my PC? Or perhaps an external hard drive? I basically want a separate hard drive(s) to do mirror and incremental backups, as well as share music, pics, docs, etc. with all three computers and my PS3.
I have two Macs- a macbook pro and an imac and also a windows machine which are wireless and are running on an Airport Extreme network. I have a relatively large iTunes library of about 30GB. My question is that is there a way to keep all of my computers in sync automatically so that I dont have to go in and sync my music manually? Basically what I'm looking for is pretty much mobileme... but for iTunes.
The problem is I cannot connect to my dad's iMac 24" from my 15" MBP. I don't understand why - I am able to connect to my little brother's MBP (pre-unibody) and my dad is able to connect to MY computer just fine.
I've reached my 5 computer limit of authorization. Problem is, I've only used two computers as I have been reinstalled Windows a few times this past year. Is there any way to get around this, or will it mean I won't be able to sync my phone correctly anymore?
I was browsing the net for a bit of info and I clicked on a link - all above board I am just searching for info on an old friend.a small window appeared from a site called antivirus.net (or something like that) saying I was in need of software or a scan or something. I clicked CANCEL and found myself on a site "mg7a.info" that looked like a Windows desktop with a scan running (this listed in my history as "my computer online scan").
I have two XP computers and an OS X computer sharing a NAS drive on the same network. All computer see one another and all computers can access the NAS drive. However, the problem I am having is that when I use the OS X computer to transfer photos from a memory card to the a folder on the NAS drive, the XP computers cannot see the (photo) files. The XP computers can see that particular folder, however they cannot add a file inside that folder. It sounds like a permissions issue, but I don't know where to start to try to fix the problem.
I am going on a gig for a company that has some systems that runs on Windows, I only have 128 GB on my computer, and with a few movies, pictures, Bento, MS Office, and a few utilities I only have 44 GBs available, I am afraid that if I install Parallels and Windows this computer will have almost no space for future files. Any idea of how much Parallels and Windows will occupy in terms of disk size? Any ideas of how to streamline OSX in order to leave more space available. I have used the search function, but I haven't found too many answers there.
What are these "shared" computers? Are they other computers spying on my personal files? (is that even possible?) How can I remove these shared computes and make sure that they don't latch on to my computer again. I changed my airport password but they are still there.
i am having problems with safari shutting down when using. it first started on my later model with snow leopard and i posted [URL] and did all the replies. it seemed to stop hanging up. now it is on my husbands older model the bubble computer ver. 10.4.11 (tiger) i have tried doing everything suggested with the first computer but no luck. the one problem i had was when i moved the safari.plist out i could not get safari to open. it says no network connection. then i moved that same plist bsack and i got the connection with internet.

I bought Lion and downloaded it, I believe I'm aloud to install it in more computers for the same price, is this true? How can I install it on my laptop?
After upgrading devices to iCloud from MobilMe. Back to My Mac is only working on some computers so I cannot see all connected computers as before. We have 1 office and 2 home offices, all 3 use Airport and have always been able to Screen Share, etc.
I am using for work a iMac and i am planning to use for my business trips a mac book air.
I am using the mail and its rss feeeds, i would like to be able to read my mails and rss on both computers and above all that when i have read an email on one computer or one rss feed, it appears as "read" in the other computer

I have about 20 different rss feeds folders on mail, for reading them i have to go from one rss feed folder to the other, how is it possible to view all rss feeds mixed up together in one only feed?
I have a home mac desktop and a laptop. I'm wondering if you need to buy 2 seperate downloads or can they somehow be one purchase? I'm also trying to sync both computers so my email, music, calendars and bookmarks are updated on each computer-- which is another reason why I'm wondering if it's just one purchase or two seperate ones? Clearly I'm not very tech savvy, but I thought you could sync computers (also with my iphone) somehow.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2 GHz), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I can't download LION on my MacBook despite having bought it on my Big Mac. Apple store tells me that I already bought it (yeah I know that) … but it won't let me do upgrade it..
Info:MacBook, iOS 5.1, Can't upgrade the system software
ive got a macbook pro 13" late 2011, and i lost the copy of my original restore disc that came with it.Now my macbook wont boot up, i ran both test for HDD and RAM, both passed and working fine. its just stuck in the apple logo with the loading icon on the bottom, now i want to restore it to factory default but i dont have disc.is it safe for me to buy the retail of Mac OS X Lion from apple store to use to restore my macbook? or its not compatible?some people say i can resolve my problem using my iMac, i just need to connect my macbook to my iMac using firewire and do some configuration but i dont im that too technical to do it with some commands.
I am using Mac OS X Lion Server on my iMac that always stays on at home. I also have 4 Macbooks that I have connected to the VPN. When all of these computers are under the same Airport Extreme at home, I can see all of them on any computer and can screen share and connect to any one of them through any computer. However, I want to be able to see these computers even if I am connected through another network. For example, if I am at my office I want to be able to see my iMac or other Macbooks on my sidebar in Finder.i have seen other people do this, I am just wondering what is it that I need to do.I can connect to my VPN from any one of my Macbooks outside of the network perfectly and even through my iPhone.
I have a Mac Pro and a Mac Book Pro systems running Lion and I want to connect them via an Ethernet cable.
They can see each other in the Finder window, but when I move files, it uses the wireless connection rather than the afp one which is supposed to be much faster. I have to turn the WIFI off every time I move files which is very inconvenient.
I am trying to enable home sharing and I get an error message you already have 5 computers you need to de-authorize 1. How cna I tell what 5 are authorize. I suspect that some computers I know longer have are on the authorize list.
I purchased Lion and was able to download it on my laptop, but it is no longer listed under purchases on my desktop. How do I download it on my desktop without paying again?
