Jun 18, 2012I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. I read that when exporting to tiny video format, chapters are not available but here I' exportin to an HD format. Feb 2, 2012I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple.The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed.If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).

OS X :: "Quicktime Required" When Trying To Stream Quicktime Videos In SL?
Sep 11, 2009I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 on my MBP.
I cant stream quicktime videos in safari. Every time I go to a video for example on apple.com and try to watch an iPod or Mac advert it will just tells me quicktime is required, free download. I've tried downloading quicktime 7 again but then it says that it cannot be installed because quicktime X is already installed, go to software update to install older version. Software update has no updates for me. I'm stuck, has anyone else had this problem?
I do have Quicktime X installed but it still wont let me view the videos.
I did a quick search but couldn't find any info on this.

Before upgrading my Mac mini to 10.6, I had installed Quicktime Pro 7. I had set up Quicktime 7 Pro to be the default app to open my .m4v handbrake video files rather than iTunes.
I just was testing some movies that I encoded last night before the 10.6 upgrade, which I did this morning.
Double clicking the .m4v file opened it in Quicktime 7 not Quicktime X. I looked in the applications folder to see if Quicktime 7 was still there but it wasn't. A quick Spotlight search and I found that Quicktime 7 (at least the Pro version) was moved to the utilities folder.
Conclusion: If you do a 10.6 upgrade install, and you have Quicktime 7 Pro, you don't have to install it from the 10.6 disc, it's just been moved to your utilities folder.

Mar 22, 2012I encoded a bunch of anamorphic h264 videos, all done with the same settings and software, and in Quicktime's inspector, some show as "current size: 640 x 480" and others say "current size: 640 x 480 (actual)". Although they all display CORRECTLY, I am worried something went wrong with the PAR on encoding or when setting the current size in Subler (to get comptibility with older devices). What does the "actual" part really mean?

When I click on the little arrow on the bottom right hand corner it has "save as source" but it won't let me click it? Is there another way? I've been fretting over this for a couple weeks now. Nov 17, 2010I am trying to watch a HD movie in 1080p on my Macbook Pro. Parts of my video will lag behind in QuickTime X, So i looked at the CPU history to see it at 100% out of 200%. So i tried another decoder (iTunes) and saw that my CPU usage went down to 20% with no lag and a Definition boost! I have no clue why iTunes is using GPU decoding while QuickTime X isn't. Anyone have a clue?

Dec 21, 2008I'm having an issue with Software Update on Quicktime 7.5.7 for a couple of weeks now.
When I try installing it, I get the following error:
The update �QuickTime� can�t be saved.
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
I already tried deleting the following files Library/Preferences com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist and the content of the Library/Updates folder, but the problem is persistent.
The strange thing is that I just was able to install a raw camera update without a problem... and since I just posted this, obviously, I can connect to the internet...
I am also unable to find a standalone updater file on Apple's download site... there are Quicktime 7.5.5 ones, but not for the 7.5.7 one.

Oct 15, 2009People, I've been told my iMovie HD issues in Snow Lep may be caused by not having Quicktime 7 any longer. I previously had the Quicktime 7-Pro version, but that got removed and replaced by Quicktime X when I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Lep.
I went to the Apple site to download Quicktime 7, but I'm getting a message in the install process that says "This version of QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because QuickTime X is already present".
How can I get Quicktime 7 back on??? and still preserve Quicktime X too??

Mar 11, 2012Quicktime Player 10 on OS 10.6 is absolutely useless as it doesn't support 16:9 aspect ratio and no matter what you do the aspect ratio in Quicktime 10 cannot be display in this ratio and no way to alter the ratio. Fortunately I have Quicktime 7 Pro which does give the ability to alter Video to 16:9.

This is the latest version of iTunes 10.6, and I tried reinstalling it with no luck. My Mini never had a problem before iTunes 10.6 and it meets all the system requirements for iTunes 10.6.Â
