I'm having an issue with Software Update on Quicktime 7.5.7 for a couple of weeks now.
When I try installing it, I get the following error:
The update QuickTime cant be saved.
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
I already tried deleting the following files Library/Preferences com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist and the content of the Library/Updates folder, but the problem is persistent.
The strange thing is that I just was able to install a raw camera update without a problem... and since I just posted this, obviously, I can connect to the internet...
I am also unable to find a standalone updater file on Apple's download site... there are Quicktime 7.5.5 ones, but not for the 7.5.7 one.
I accidentyly clicked "Cancel" when iTunes asked to update Quicktime, now my online movies won't play without Quicktime. Any way that I could manually update it myself?
I ran a software update of my macbook air so it is now OS X v10.5.8 but Quicktime did not update. It is still 7.3.2 Itunes says I need 7.5.5 or later. How do I update Quicktime? I've tried re-running the software update and it doesn't find anything.
I'm trying to play movies that I've downloaded from Frostwire and every time they open up in Quick Time it says is update is needed and a blank safari page opens. Probably should mention this is my first Mac and I've had it for a total of 6 hours.
I updated the new itunes and all but my quicktime wasn't able to update. it says that "the source media you are installing from is damaged". I tried dozens of times downloading quicktime from apple website and still got this same problem. Now i cant open itunes and other program related to quicktime because my quicktime has an older version.
Since updating to Lion, and subsequently to QuickTime 10.1, many movies that worked fine before won't open now. I get an error that says, "A required codec is not available." Two things make this even more frustrating:
1. Some movies of the same type still open just fine. I can't seem to find a pattern that links the ones that won't open. 2. The movies that won't open are still available to preview in Finder. If they will play in Finder, why not in QuickTime? Isn't it just a QickTime "plug-in" that plays them in the Finder?
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3), 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ; 4GB RAM
I am trying to work on a resume and I can no longer open pages. The dialogue box just keeps telling me my current version is not compatible. I have iwork09' and Mac OSX 10.6.8.
where on the hard drive to place the Quicktime update once it has downloaded onto a Mac? I can't seem to find the right location, and now cannot operate iTunes. I am using Firefox. My husband uses Safari, and I think I may have to download for his ID, as well.
Perhaps there is no relation, but ever since the iTunes update it has become impossible to play QT videos correctly in full-screen mode in Safari. It occurs in Mac OS X and Windows 7.
I am trying to install itunes 10 and keep getting the following message: There is a problem with this Windows install package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or packagfe vendor.
I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?
Info: Quicktime, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Quicktime Version 7.7, iPhoto 7.1.5
I edited a screen recording video (shot with QuickTime) with iMovie. Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. I read that when exporting to tiny video format, chapters are not available but here I' exportin to an HD format. I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple. The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed. If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).
Firefox 9 for Mac cannot play quicktime content on a Lion 7.3 system.Firefox displays a message that a plugin for quicktime is needed, but cannot find one.
I have Mac OS X 10.4.11 and use Firefox. I keep getting a message that QuickTime 7.6.6 plug in is out of date. I have done the software update and it shows no current updates available. Certain videos won't play and it says that this may make my computer vulnerable.
I cant stream quicktime videos in safari. Every time I go to a video for example on apple.com and try to watch an iPod or Mac advert it will just tells me quicktime is required, free download. I've tried downloading quicktime 7 again but then it says that it cannot be installed because quicktime X is already installed, go to software update to install older version. Software update has no updates for me. I'm stuck, has anyone else had this problem?
I do have Quicktime X installed but it still wont let me view the videos.
I did a quick search but couldn't find any info on this.
Before upgrading my Mac mini to 10.6, I had installed Quicktime Pro 7. I had set up Quicktime 7 Pro to be the default app to open my .m4v handbrake video files rather than iTunes.
I just was testing some movies that I encoded last night before the 10.6 upgrade, which I did this morning.
Double clicking the .m4v file opened it in Quicktime 7 not Quicktime X. I looked in the applications folder to see if Quicktime 7 was still there but it wasn't. A quick Spotlight search and I found that Quicktime 7 (at least the Pro version) was moved to the utilities folder.
Conclusion: If you do a 10.6 upgrade install, and you have Quicktime 7 Pro, you don't have to install it from the 10.6 disc, it's just been moved to your utilities folder.
Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?
- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).
- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).
Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.
