View 7 RepliesI have a guest account on my Mac with a background image I really like. The problem is that it looks like someone deleted the actual background image, because I can't find it anymore. When I login to the account, the image is still being shown.

This would be like the "Create Shortcut" in Windows...

I don't know why but the picture I had on my Macbook desktop disappeared and I can't seem to set any new ones. All I have is a solid blue background.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy iMac keeps reverting after i'd say 2-5 minutes to the original default Snow Leopard background. I used to run a theme which changed every 15 minutes but since turned it off now it won't have any of it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard and will soon have Windows 7 on my Macbook. Why are the Windows 7 wallpapers so much nicer than Leopard and SL's pack?
There are some good new ones in SL, but it's still not much. The W7 RTM ones are jaw-dropping and I quickly made it the default folder for my SL backgrounds. Is it a money issue or something?

Note: I resized the pic smaller.
For two weeks my screen will go blue and then any data on the screen will come back, either to normal or expanded in scale. In the desktop preferences it will offer desktop and VGA options. Over the last two days it will resize smaller with black edges and display the last wallpaper I used not the current one. Any help in correcting this would be great it's an iMac and runs Mac OSX Version 10.4.11
I downloaded GeekTool 2.1.2 and was fiddling around with some of the settings so I could customize my desktop/dock. Unfortunately, this black box in the upper-left hand corner somehow appeared and now won't go away. I then uninstalled and am now running GeekTool 3.0. The problem persists. Is there a way I can get rid of this box, yet keep the changes I've already made in my dock?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this is a recent problem, but it could be a problem that I have only noticed recently. This is on a 2011 MacBook Air.
Whenever I switch back to the desktop from a fullscreen app there is a half second delay before the wallpaper appears.
When I use a three finger swipe out of the desktop, the wallpaper disappears immediately. When swiping between two fullscreen apps (mail and itunes, for example), you can basically see half of each app as you swipe, but this isn't the case with the desktop, it disappears to the patterned grey.
The menu bar does remain there, and when set to translucent always shows the background. I have tried this with a number of wallpapers including the default and solid colours.
If this is unclear I can try to upload a screenshot.
If this is common, then so be it, but for some reason I believe this worked differently. Searching came up with nothing but I may be searching for the wrong thing.

I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a G4, dual 450, 1G Ram running 10.4.11. Recently after downloading and opening an .rar file, a file named .DS_Store appeared on the desktop. I have since deleted the .rar file, but cannot delete the .DS file. It is appearing now in all of my programs, including my camera when I plug it in. I've tried ClamXav, MacScan, and DnsChangerRemovaltool, also What'sKeepingMe, but nothing can remove it. Info says it's a document, 16 KB, and it reads as date created the last time I turned the machine on. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can get rid of it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to the Mac. I have a Macbook Pro 2.2GHz. Today, a file keeps popping up on my desktop. It is named .DS_Store. The icon looks like a text document. I won't open it cuz I'm afraid of what it is, lol (Windows still clogging my brain). Anyway, I can drag it to the trash and delete the trash, but after a bit, it reappears.
Any idea how to get rid of it?
I just downloaded a video game off f the internet, and its a torrent file, which I need to be made into a .iso file. I know I can use imgburn through parallels, but I have no Windows OS disc for parallels to work. Does anybody know if there is a way that I can get this torrent file( which is essentially a lot of little files) converted into a .iso file so I can burn it and play it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I am contemplating getting an SSD as my boot drive. I read a huge article on anandtech talking about how SSD degradation works. So I would only want the OS and Applications I have to be on the SSD. I know how to change my downloads to go to a different drive and set up my iTunes music folder somewhere else too. However, how could I make the desktop be on a drive in bay 2? Or photo booth pictures to go to the drive in bay 2? Or an iPhone backup? Basically, how can I get everything to not go on the SSD besides just the necessary files for the OS and my applications? I just don't want a bunch of random files being written to the SSD.
