View 4 Repliesmy iMac keeps reverting after i'd say 2-5 minutes to the original default Snow Leopard background. I used to run a theme which changed every 15 minutes but since turned it off now it won't have any of it.

In the desktop preferences it will offer desktop and VGA options. Over the last two days it will resize smaller with black edges and display the last wallpaper I used not the current one. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard and will soon have Windows 7 on my Macbook. Why are the Windows 7 wallpapers so much nicer than Leopard and SL's pack?
There are some good new ones in SL, but it's still not much. The W7 RTM ones are jaw-dropping and I quickly made it the default folder for my SL backgrounds. Is it a money issue or something?

I downloaded GeekTool 2.1.2 and was fiddling around with some of the settings so I could customize my desktop/dock. Unfortunately, this black box in the upper-left hand corner somehow appeared and now won't go away. I then uninstalled and am now running GeekTool 3.0. The problem persists. Is there a way I can get rid of this box, yet keep the changes I've already made in my dock?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think this is a recent problem, but it could be a problem that I have only noticed recently. This is on a 2011 MacBook Air.
Whenever I switch back to the desktop from a fullscreen app there is a half second delay before the wallpaper appears.
When I use a three finger swipe out of the desktop, the wallpaper disappears immediately. When swiping between two fullscreen apps (mail and itunes, for example), you can basically see half of each app as you swipe, but this isn't the case with the desktop, it disappears to the patterned grey.
The menu bar does remain there, and when set to translucent always shows the background. I have tried this with a number of wallpapers including the default and solid colours.
If this is unclear I can try to upload a screenshot.
If this is common, then so be it, but for some reason I believe this worked differently. Searching came up with nothing but I may be searching for the wrong thing.

Any ideas why this is happening?
I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

View 24 Replies View RelatedIs there an apple script or something that can change icons automatically between files? I have a small movie library, which I created icon files for (with a frame from the movie). I just have to "get info" on each movie individually, and copy the image icon over the movie's generic icon. I can't use poster frames in iTunes/Quicktime because they're not all quicktime compatible, and I didn't want to re-encode everything.
I'm just wondering if it is simple to write a script that will ask for an item (the image), copy it's Icon, then ask for a second item (the movie) and paste the icon to that. If it is possible, the process would go a little faster both now, and for any others I do in the future.

Why is iTunes automatically changing my genre metadata? For the past couple months I’ve noticed that iTunes has been changing genre information in my music library. This is a problem because I’ve spent the past decade tweaking the metadata in my iTunes Library to be exactly the way that I want it (particularly with genre and grouping information).
I have a very large iTunes library and I’ve changed genre and grouping info for organizational reasons. When iTunes changes the genre of my music, it’s effecting my smart playlists and causing a domino effect of mis-organization. Tracks and albums are popping up in multiple genres, and things are getting disorganized very quickly.
I suspect that iTunes is changing the genre info of my purchased music back to how it appears in the iTunes store and that this is going to be a new ongoing Apple issue that is quietly ignored.
Other notes/observations:
-I am NOT using iTunes Match
-Genius is turned OFF
-Tracks being automatically edited is music that has been purchased from the iTunes Store
-Not all tracks purchased from the iTunes Store is being automatically edited
-If I Command-Info a track that has been edited by iTunes, the metadata changes back to what I had changed it to. But ONLY when I Command-Info or play the track. Otherwise the track stays lost in it’s reversed genre and the track disappears from smart playlists that it’s included in.
I've got a pretty big collection of music on iTunes - almost 1000 albums - and I'm pretty anal about the way it's stored and managed and I regularly change the song and album information to suit my own "house style". All my music was stored on a Dell laptop and was fine - I had no problems with changing and editing the information. I recently bought a MacBook Pro and shifted all the music files from the old machine onto the new one (a lengthy and frustrating process) and since then, I've had a lot of hassle in terms of amending and organising my iTunes collection. A lot of the music I've purchased from the iTunes store has reverted back to its original state, no matter how many times I've changed it.
For example:
Lana Del Rey's Born to Die (Deluxe Version). I've removed the "Deluxe Version" from the title but I quit iTunes or sync it with my iPod, it automatically adds it back. I've changed the information in the song info, I've even changed it in the sort info just to be sure, but it always changes back.
The same with the Anthems Electronic 80s compilation. I want to call it Ministry of Sound: Electronic 80s and remove it from Various Artists (by deleting the album artist from the information). But after iTunes is quit or its been synced, the same thing happens. It appears as two albums on my iPod - a handful of tracks appear under the old title while the bulk of them appear under the new one.
It's happening across loads of albums, all ones I've downloaded (the stuff ripped from CDs seems to be okay). I've done as much as I can in terms of the song info but no matter what I do, it just reverts back when the programme's quit or I sync my iPod. I don't know if it's anything to do with the fact they're in the Cloud or they've been imported from a Dell laptop or there's an underlying problem with iTunes ...
It has been this way as long as I've had the Magic Mouse - if I change the batteries, it won't re-connect. I must plug in a USB mouse and manually connect the Magic Mouse. This is on a relatively recent 24" iMac. Am I doing something wrong?
PS: I think at some point in the past I made the mouse a Favorite in trying to fix this.
I downloaed a bunch of (maybe 35) different wallpapers and I set my MacBook to change between these wallpapers everyday in a random order. However, the wallpaper doesn't change eveyrday instead I notice it only chnages when I restart my computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am looking to see if there is a program(s) out there to change OS X desktop theme. Mainly how the tool bar looks/acts.
I want my kids to start using my G4 and they have no concept of where to look for the apps folder or how it works. They are used to Window and Ubuntu.
I like how Ubuntu has programs ot change how the tool bar acts. I was hoping to change the mac a little.
Also off the base of this thread, coming from a Windows and Linux past, is it an issue if my kids just click the red X instead of using the File/quit method to close programs? I see the menu bar still exists when they just hit the X..
I have it set to change every 30 minutes, and it does. However, instead of it doing the nice fade, it only changes. Not so pretty compared to the fade.
