View 1 RepliesI have 4 weather widgets (the standard one that came with OS X). And after a restart, some of them have gone up a bit, or down. So as you can imagine with 4 of them, it can get unorganized if I don't move them back to their original positions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am from Canada and for some reason over the past couple days I've been experiencing more and more trouble with the weather widget. Can any of you test or confirm this.
Sample cities
Edmonton, Alberta
Banff, Alberta
Calgary, Alberta
Vancouver, British Columbia
Kelowna, British Columbia
So when I pull up my weather widget, it tells me Toronto KS, but I need Toronto ON. I did look for a button that may say edit, but so far no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen the sun all day. Not only that, but I can hear thunder, see lightning and judging by the very dark shade of the clouds around my house, I can pretty much say it's damn sure about to start pouring. What I'm getting at is that this widget has shown nothing but sunshine all day and all night tonight. The temperatures seem to be close, but that's about it. Just curious if anyone else noticed any inaccuracy with this Accuweather widget.
View 17 Replies View RelatedMy weather widget currently says that it's raining. I'm sitting right here, looking out my window, and the sun is shining brightly. The Weather Channel says that it's sunny, Yahoo says it's sunny, but AccuWeather.com says it's raining. Can I change it to use another source?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been hearing that Apple has switched from using AccuWeather to Weather.com (The Weather Channel) for the weather Dashboard widget in Snow Leopard. Is this true? Anyone with the WWDC build or the newer build. The fact that my iPod touch (weather.com / yahoo) weather app and OS X dashboard (AccuWeather) never match is kind of annoying.
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan you recommend a weather app for SL that sits in the menubar? I did a search on macupdate and basically came up with many that were developed (and haven't been touched since) 2-3 years ago. Any that you can recommend that work well with SL and don't use a huge amount of system resources?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that when I change the location for the weather app the F/C overlaps the text box. It has never done this before. What could be wrong with my macbook pro? here is a screenshot of it.

I know there are some other threads on this, but none seem to have a definitive answer. So this issue happened on my previous MacBook Pro with Leopard and then again with Snow Leopard. Now, it's happening again on my brand new 27" iMac. Every time I restart and bring up the dashboard, my weather widget loads and then jumps down a quarter of an inch or so on the screen. How can I stop this from happening and why hasn't Apple fixed this after 2 years?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIn last few days, the weather/temperature display while in dashboard is blank.Normally shows 5 day weather forcast and current temperature for my city. Other functions in dashboard also stopped working, i.e. translator function.

I've seen this on many people's desktop. where would a fellow find these?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just successfully tethered my Nokia 5800 to my MBP and its working great... just one question, is there some way to monitor (maybe like a widget?) how much data i have upped and downloaded?
The reason i ask is because i have a package that allows me 1gig of traffic a month, after which there are some stupid rates *per day* of usage and the speed will be throttled as well.
I use the black macbook and I have several folders and files on my desktop. However, lately after I shutdown my macbook and start it again, all the folders and files on my desktop move and scatter. I want to keep them in the same order that I originally arranged. How do I keep them in the same place? Is it normal for them to move around after shutdown? I don't want to sort them out by name or date modified or anything like that. I just want to keep them in the same order that I put them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy desktop icons keep moving after reboot to the right hand side and arranged by name. Now: I have tried resetting the the views options, changing the grid size, changing the icon size, repairing permissions in the disk utility. I have tried all these, with reboots in between and in differing orders.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with widget appearing on desktop when mouse hovers on bottom of dock. Down left it has a cross / manage widgets. There are no ticked widgets at all when I go into manage widgets.

On my desktop I have 1 folder that contain completed projects as well as multiple folders to manage current projects I'm working on. Occassionally I also have files on the desktop that I am working on for the day. Whenever I arrange by name (or any other criteria) the files and folders on my desktop move all around. My completed folder is now mixed in with files I'm working on and my current projects folders are all over the placed depending on what I named them. I would like a way to pin certain folders to their place on the desktop (similar to how the hard drive icon is pinned), so when I arrange the desktop files by a certain criteria these "pinned" folders would not move.
Info:
MacBook
Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Since reorganizing my file system. when I click the "desktop folder"a message comes up "There is no application set to open the document 'desktop'. Further I am not able to drag any files onto the actual desktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to a mac and have the download setting set up to drop on desktop when I download something.
My question is that I downloaded some widgets today for the desktop like "The Weather Channel" one. When it finished downloaded, it appeared on the desktop as two files a zip file and another file. I then had to click on it to run it but in the end I had to move the zip file to the trash after I was done installing it. Is that normal. Should there be two files each time. Do I need to turn on/off a setting.
Also happened when I clicked on a video to watch, I was streaming it but when I flashed to my desktop it downloaded it also. Is this normal.
My day in history widget has become invisible when I open up the dashboard.. Invisible but not gone because when I click in the icon in the list at the bottom of the page it sort of semi appears on the page but disappears with an effect like ripples in a pond (,which is in it's self a fantastic effect) The cross is still there in the top right corner though.
Any ideas as to what I have cocked up now
Where did the calendar widget go??? I can't seem to open it????
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon MAC running Leopard OS (10.5.6). We are 3 designers using 1 network drive (Lacie Ethernet 1TB) to store our projects. I used to be able to backup this network drive using duplicate option of Retrospect Express to another Lacie that was attached to the USB port on my MAC. Since we upgraded to Leopard I have not been able to do this. I think this is because the network drive no longer mounts on my desktop. I think it used to think the network drive was on my computer because it was on my desktop, but it no longer does. Anyway, I need to back this drive up on a regular basis. (I am currently drag/copying it, did I say 1TB) Is there any way that I can get this drive to mount so that it is on my desktop? Does anyone know of any programs that might duplicate this NAS for me over the network to the one on my MAC or I could add another Lacie to the network. All of the software I have found is just to backup a MAC computer not a drive. If I can drag and drop it, it seems like this should be easy, but when I tried a command line copy it didn't work (I think because we named it "mac lacie disk" with spaces between the words and it stops at "mac" and can't find the rest.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am able to connect to my wireless router with my laptop airport (powerbook G4) and receive a good signal. 3 or 4 out of 4 bars. When I place my Mac Pro desktop (Early 2009) in the same spot and turn on the airport, it can barely connect to the same network (extremely weak signal) and it drops out constantly. I'm sharing my laptop connection to my desktop at the moment, but I'd rather not have my laptop on all the time. I can't really move my desktop or the router either - I live in a guest house, and the router I connect to is located in the main house.

My question is, how do i make a shortcut to that server on my desktop? It seems it is not possible in the finder, but i am open to a terminal hack if necessary.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a 13" regular aluminum macbook. We have 2 apple TVs, 24,000 songs, 10 gigs of pictures and a ton of video. We just bought a nice Cannon HD video camera and my wife snaps photographs with her Nikon SLR on every whim. We use an USB HDD to store all the songs and video, which must be plugged in all the time. This laptop is extremely taxed and it is time add another mac.
1. What would be the best option?
2. Can macs talk to each other, i.e. share files, picture, etc.? Can the macs look as exactly the same and being able to access the files in the same place? I don't want to move my wife's cheese.
3. Do mice work like the trackpad? We love the trackpad.
It would be nice to have a faster mac to edit photographs and video. We have yet to upload video from our new camera because via USB it take forever.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Apple Remote Desktop to connect to multiple Mac's on a remote network. I've set the remote network's firewall/router to open up the ARD-specific ports for all the computers I want to connect to. I've also set each computer to accept Remote Management. On my ARD however, when I enter the network address of the remote network I'm trying to get to, I can only see ONE of the enabled computers, rather than all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI Recently purchased a Mac Pro and I am considering interfacing it to a Weather Station. Almost every Weather Station touts PC compatibility and about 1/3 interface Mac's. But after reading the reviews on them... I am under the impression that many users have run aground and encountered problems attempting to interface them to a Mac or PC. Anyone here have first hand experience interfacing a modern Weather Station to a Mac via one of the USB ports?
