OS X :: How To Edit All Subtitle Timings

Mar 2, 2009

I have some .srt subtitle files which aren't synchronized properly. I have found different editors, but I need one to edit all titles at one time. For example adjust all lines by -2 seconds or so.

OS X :: How To Convert Subtitle Files From SUB To SRT

Jan 11, 2009

I've got a movie that plays fine with the subtitles when I use VLC but when I burn it to a DVD to play in my DivX DVD player, it won't show the subtitles. Like, it recognizes there is a subtitle file there and I choose it, but they don't show up. I can't find any apps that let you convert from .sub to .srt (a more common format).

MacBook Pro :: Extracting Subtitle Files From MKV File?

Oct 13, 2010

I'm trying to rip my blu-ray library with MakeMKV and convert it with Handbrake (which is the best option I've come across for a mac user like myself) but when it comes to extracting .srt files from the resulting .mkv file I come to a brick wall. When I've thought I successfully extracted them using MKVTools (the only way I'm aware of on a mac) I can't find them anywhere on my computer, thus I can't utilize the "add external .srt" option in Handbrake.

I can open the avi in QT but only if I remove the srt from the same folder.

So the avi is good.

If I have the srt in the same folder and try to open the avi, QT crashes immediately.

Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.

Mac Pro :: Video Edit - More RAM / Card?

Nov 6, 2010

Got 6GB RAM on 2009 2.66 Mac Pro with 4870. The upcoming 5870 is $450. 12 GB (3x4GB) is $320 and 16 GB (4x4GB) is $425, and finally 24 GB (3x8GB) is $820. Which purchase or combo of purchase is best for video edit on Final Cut Pro? BTW, any additional benefits of getting the 5870? Gaming would be better (I game a little; X-Plane & Call of Duty), but wouldn't some apps off load to the GPU to make the CPU faster, though I don't know what those apps would be. I could run 2 displays with 5870 with ease, not sure if the 4870 can handle 2 displays.

OS X :: Edit ACL In Snow Leopard?

Jul 16, 2010

I am basically trying to do the trick with iPhoto described here: [URL] I'm running Snow Leopard, which has disabled fsaclctl; but access control lists (ACL) supposedly have been enabled across the board with no way to turn them off.

That part's just fine with me, but I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to add or edit them, which is what I need to do. Sandbox keeps returning an "Operation not supported" error. I even tried the trick here: [URL], which suggests copying fsaclctl from a Leopard system into my Snow Leopard system.

Terminal still returns the same "Access control lists are not supported or currently disabled on /.", even when I run fsaclctl -a / -e. I don't have a 10.5 system available, so I copied fsaclctl from my old 10.4 system; I don't know if that has something to do with it (fsaclctl -v returns version 1.1).

I tried looking for a more up-to-date fsaclctl somewhere online and I can't seem to find anyplace that has it for download. Anyone have any ideas?
