OS X :: How Do You Split A 3840x1200 Into A Left And Right Wallpaper?
May 25, 2010
Did a search, didn't find anything nice on google or MacRumors...
If I have dual or triple screen wallpapers, you can't tile it on a Mac. So, I need to split the file into several pieces.
Any suggestions on free sites/apps?

I have a custom wallpaper with squares that display various screen resolutions. Such as 1920x1080, 1280x720, etc. Each square is a different shade of color. All squares are contained in each larger square (720 is inside 1080). I use this for resizing windows when I want to do a screen recording at those sizes.Â
The wallpaper is centered. But I'd like it to appear in the top left without having to distort/stretch it.Â

for work-related reasons I need a second external monitor for my Macbook. I do know that you can't plug in a second monitor but i found the "Matrox DualHead2Go". With this device you can use one input from the Macbook and split the output to 2 monitors with 1920x1200 pixel each. The Macbook thinks that it is one big monitor with 3840x1200 pixel. I guess many of you may know the DualHead2Go.
My questions:
1.) Does my graphics card work with such a high resolution? On apple.com it says "up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display". But that would only result in 2 monitors with 1280 pixel width each. Is that correct? Is the graphics card not able to go higher?
2.) If it should work: is the Macbook fast enough to output 3840x1200 pixel? Would the CPU always run at 100%?
Info: I have the current Macbook Pro 13" with 2,4 Ghz Core2Duo, 4GB Ram and GeForce 320M.
I would really hate to switch to a larger Macbook or to a stationary Mac like the Mac Pro or iMac. I still want to be mobile without always synchronizing my work on both Macs.

I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

Ok, I have a MBP 13" 2.53GHz and a new model Mac Mini 2.4GHz. I use both about 50% of the time. I have 2x2gb and 2x1gb sticks of ram and I am trying to find out what would give me the best bang, if it would be putting 3gb in each or 2 in one mac and 4 in the other.
My every day use is as follows (about even amount use on both macs with all apps):
Final cut pro
safari, mail, skype (at the same time mostly)
World of warcraft, Ventrilo, iTunes (also at the same time)

What I have been trying to do is transfer a .mkv video file which is 4.37 GB in size from a hard drive which is format NAT32 to one that is FAT32. So what I am wanting to do is split the video file in 2 so that I can transfer it to the FAT32 because I dont mind watching 1 part then the other.
So is there any application out there which will allow me to do this?

I scanned a book a while back to a PDF file. I would like to split the PDF pages in half so that each paper page is on an individual PDF page. The only way I can see to do this is to duplicate the file and crop one copy to the left page and the other to the right. Of course, combining the files would be a tedious process.
Is there an easier way? I have Preview 4, Acrobat 8 and PDF Pen.

From a nonprofit that I help, I get a PDF each week that is 10 pages long. I would like to split that automatically into 10 separate pages for filing and posting reasons. Is there an easier way to do that then opening up the file, extracting a single page, saving that page, then repeating 9 times?

I was wondering if it is even possible to split VGA signals. Now, this may seem weird, I want 2 inputs to 1 output. Is this possible. The idea is I have an external monitor for my iMac. I have it connected via miniDisplay Port -> VGA. I also have a video processor (thing) - (it is able to have an Audio/Video input, antenna input, etc). I want to be able to use the single VGA monitor and switch between the two inputs when I want to use it as an extended monitor, or to play videogames/TV/etc on.

I have an AVI file that is just a tad too big to be burned onto a single-layer DVD, even at the "most efficient" setting (forgot the exact wording) of iDVD. I would like to do one of two things: Lower the quality just a bit (I'm just a bit over the 4.7GB limit), or split the AVI I'm trying to put on a DVD in two and end up with two DVDs. I just don't want to spend the money on DL DVDs for this!
I have googled "split AVI" and tried Bananasplitter. Perhaps, due to its age, it failed to work. Anyone have any suggestions on accomplishing this. Especially lowering the quality a bit more on iDVD so that it'll fit on one DVD? I would love to get rid of that "Revolution Main" theme and simply have the AVI play immediately upon disc insertion. Perhaps that alone would allow the movie to fit on one single-layer DVD.

Mac-mini, OS X Leopard: Suddenly my wife's Leopard Mac- Mini (monitor) screen shows a 'vibrating' display that is split into three distorted parts. I can see it is the Finder shown three times. Fixing Permissions does nothing. Is this a hardware or software problem?

I have a set of split files with letter extensions. They are named <filename>.iso.__a, <filename>.iso.__b, and so on. Additionally they continue on to <filename>.iso._aa to <filename>.iso._as. This further confuses me because a Mac will list the <filename>.iso.__a first but a PC will put the <filename>.iso._aa first so I am unsure which is the initial file. I haven't found software that will join them properly. Split and Concat stalls out at 4kb. MacHacha makes a full sized file but it won't mount. Stuffitexpander won't even try, and Ajoiner shades out all the files as they don't end in numbers. I also tried renaming all the files with numbers but this too failed.

I would like a little more information on create a split rar archive in OS X 10.4.11. At the moment I have downloaded winrar and copied the rar file to /bin/ and I can execute the command
Code:
rar a -v50000 testfile
to create a split archive, each part 50mb each.
But the only problem with this is that it will create files using the extension .part#.rar and I would like it to use .r00 .r01 .r02 etc.

I just purchased the new 15 inch MacBook Pro. I noticed that there is only 1 Firewire 800 port, (same for the IMAC as well). I do video editing and need to plug in a mini-dv video camera and G-Tech Firewire 800 drive into it. I found out that I can't capture video by daisy chaining the video camera into the hard drive and the hard drive into the laptop. Is there anything out there that can split a Firewire 800 port? Through google, I've only found Firewire 400 hubs but haven't come across firewire 800 hubs.

Does anybody know a good program to split a pdf page in two? Not splitting a pdf into two pdf's, but one page into two pages within the pdf.
I have some articles at work that were photocopied 2 pages into 1. Now they are pdf's, but I want to split each of those pages in half. I have had terrible luck with PDF clerk pro, where I have to take 8 steps and it makes duplicates of all pages in the process.
I have documents with a large number of pages, so I'd prefer not to having to do it one page at a time.

For the last few hours my unibody MacBook Pro has been occasionally flickering - the whole or some of the screen goes black for a split second. It's not happening frequently but it's never happened before, just checking to see if this is a "rush to the Apple Store" type situation?

I'm posting lyrics up on a projector screen for church and I have keynote.
I wanted to know if there was a way to split the screen to see something different than what the projector is showing, so that I don't have to guess which verse comes next in keynote,
I can just see it on my computer and click it and project it onto the screen. Hoping that made sense!

Actually I would have to obtain a database of about 30 - 40 columns in a fixed order to come. I received many different databases, some fields such as street-houseN/boxN or names of persons in 1 field or multiple fields. (Depends on how the company keep track of data in a database)I would now systematically change databases automatically with applescipt and convert to all databases to the fixed database structure that includes all fields separated. How can I split 1 column in 3 columns?I have a tab delimited file with 1 column NAME (first-middle and last name in same field) but I need 3 columns. So I need it separated. If possible It would be great to just see for the column names. So the start file (select file) and see for column NAME.
So watch for the column NAMEÂ and make a new tab delimited file with 3 columns.FIRST NAME/ MIDDLE NAME/ LASTNAME as column names.Select file (tab delimited- mac roman)see for column NAME make new file in same directory with (_spit) in file name With 3 columns FIRST NAME/ MIDDLE NAME/ LASTNAME...The first word is the first name - the last word is de last name - the middle word or words are the middle name. When only 2 words in NAME FIELD > first name and last name.
