MacBook Pro :: How To Split Firewire 800 On The New 15inch

I just purchased the new 15 inch MacBook Pro. I noticed that there is only 1 Firewire 800 port, (same for the IMAC as well). I do video editing and need to plug in a mini-dv video camera and G-Tech Firewire 800 drive into it. I found out that I can't capture video by daisy chaining the video camera into the hard drive and the hard drive into the laptop. Is there anything out there that can split a Firewire 800 port? Through google, I've only found Firewire 400 hubs but haven't come across firewire 800 hubs.

what do the F5 and F6 keys do on my new 15-inch Macbook Pro?
I've turned whatever it is up and down, but notice no immediate differences.
They basically look like underscores with dots coming out of the top.

I'm considering purchasing someone a 15-inch MBP that only has the 9400M. This machine after rebate is $1499 from Mac Connection, which makes it only $200 more than the high end 13. Yes, you only gain the screen on this configuration, but $1499 is an attractive price for a 15. However is this model seen as a bit of an odd model, in that it only has integrated graphics? The user would never play games, so it seems paying for the second graphics card would be unnecessary ? Whereas the benefit of the extra screen real estate, would be nice for them surely.

it's been a few days now and it's starting to bother me, now sometimes when I click the trackpad to click on something I have to click harder or multiple times. This doesn't occur with tap to click. I have Applecare, my MBP is 15'' latest model 2.8ghz.

Completely random- I don't watch a lot of video. typically when booting up and during regular safari usage it will crash- screen goes black and it ready that it did it because of a problem- press a button or wait and it will restart.

Need to buy a new MacBook Pro 15inch. This will be used for photo and video editing.Importantly I will be photographing the screen as part of an art installation. I want to know if the antiglare screen is my best option? Also if the 2.2 GHZ, 500G drive with AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB GDDR5 is an adequate choice for my needs or if i should get the 750 drive with the AMD radeon 6770M , 1GB GDDR5. My previous MacBook ( circa 2008) was a Core 2 Duo with matte screen and GT graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM?

I currently have my second MBP that I got from Macmall and both in a matter of two weeks have had similar issues. The first I managed to get returned and replaced, that is a seperate and complicated story in and of itself. This particular issue started with a boot up sequence that was taking about 5-6 mins. After going through the drill with Applecare thought I could restore using Time Machine. That's when I found out that the FW400 port no longer worked to power my Oyen Digital 250G FW drive. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem? This is my second MBP and Oyen Digital FW drive. I had them both replaced!

I just got the external harddrive "Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex USB 3.0 1TB" with a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Kabel FireWire 800. I have neither a USB 3.0, nor a Firewire 800 on my white macbook (2008). I already know, that it's possible to use USB 3.0 with an USB 2.0 port, but I would like to use it with the firewire to spare the USB port for other devices. My question: Is there an adapter or cable to use the Seagate Firewire 800 with my Firewire 400 port? I don't know, where and what to look for.Â

I have a somewhat old Seagate FreeAgent external drive (like this).
It has a switchable port controller, one has a USB2 and eSATA and the other has two FireWire 400 ports [URL].
Now, on the FW controller it says "Dual FireWire 400".
What is Dual FireWire 400? And does it implicate that I can use both ports together somehow and get FW800 by that?

I just got a Mac Mini (March 2009 model) and want to connect it via Firewire to my Sony TRV-22 camcoder. The camcorder has a Mini DV Firewire jack on it (I think this is called a 4-pin connector sometimes too). But on the Mac Mini, I can't tell if I need a 6-pin or a 9-pin. Can someone point me to a good cable so I can dump some MiniDV tapes into iMovie?

For the last few hours my unibody MacBook Pro has been occasionally flickering - the whole or some of the screen goes black for a split second. It's not happening frequently but it's never happened before, just checking to see if this is a "rush to the Apple Store" type situation?

I wasn't sure where to start this thread but since I'm buying an MBA I thought I'd post it here. So I'm buying a maxed out 11" (i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD) + superdrive + TB to ethernet port + MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter and it's about‚¬2200. The problem is that the maximum amount that can be deducted from my amount is‚¬1500 a day. I contacted Apple asking if they could split the transaction into 2 and the lady said she would have to talk to the finance department about it and get back to me. Has anyone ever done this or know if they will be able to?
I don't know how else I'll be able to buy it since I don't have any Apple stores anywhere near me and and the resellers will take weeks to order my custom BTO model.

It just started this afternoon, every 15-20 minutes the screen goes blank once for less than a second and comes back. I haven't upgraded to snow leopard yet, haven't changed anything recently. It's only a few months old so should I take it to an apple store or is there something simple that might fix it?

Hi! Long time listner, first time caller.... So I'm learning about external hard drives, backing up my laptop and Time Machine. I've been told a few times that people sometimes choose to "split" or "divide" their hard drive, and that this needs to be done before anything is stored to it. But I didn'tthink to ask 'why?'.

I'm using the Mac email program. I opened up the program and all of the sudden I lost the split screen. Before I had the inbox in the top half of the screen and the message body in the bottom half. Now I am just seeing a full screen with the inbox and I have to double click on the message to see the body. I've looked through the toolbar and can't find an option that addresses it.

I have dual diaplay's through HDMI, and use this to play dvd's. What I want to do is use the Macbook for other uses and have the sound comming through the macbook, wilst not affecting the sound from the movie being played through the HDMI out put. Currently in the settings for sound outup, all audio will either go through one of the options. How do I split the sound output per program.

I just installed microsoft word....it is a little slow...i.e. the typing shows up a split second after i type, instead of instantaneous...I think because of the spelling/grammar checking. anyone else witness this?

Someone tripped over the wire of the MagSafe charger, and it came away from the macbook, but split the L-Shaped part in half, and left the magnetic end stuck inside the charging port, and the other part exposing the gold pins. Â Is there any way I can remove the magnetic part myself? Or should Apple be able to do it for me?
