how do i get an hp50000nt to print when its hooked up to an airport extreme via ethernet. id like to be able to share this printer
i was able to add the airport extreme to my current network, just cant figure out the printer.
I have a Canon printer connected to my G5. My G5 connected to my WiFi router. My MacBook has Airport. I have set the G5 to share the printer but it is not recognized by the MacBook. What am I doing wrong?

I have followed set up from about site and it seems all set up, but its not printing, I check the printer jobs and it seems its sending them as the jobs appear both on my mac and then on my p.c very briefly, but nothing prints. Printer is connected to my p.c and I can print from there. I must of done everything needed as the job is appearing on my pc and im getting a list of completed jobs at my mac end.

I have a 21.5 imac that I have setup on a wireless router. I am using the imac and two MBP's. I want to be able to print from windows xp on the MBPs but I do not know how to set it up. I can print from OSX on the MBPs but not windows.

I have an iMac 2.4 GHz with 2 GB RAM. My printer is a Canon PIXMA iP5200, which is connected via USB cable to a Maxtor Shared Storage Plus external hard drive. The hard drive is on my home wireless network.
This setup has been working fine for two years with my Windows computers; however whenever I try to print from the iMac I get an error message saying "Network host '192.168.1.66' is busy; will retry in 5 seconds. That's followed by another message saying 10 seconds, and so on up to 30 seconds. Needless to say I never do get a successful print.
The computer can see the printer and says it is "idle" and "ready." There are no other jobs waiting in the queue. The printer was setup with Internet Printing Protocol. The driver is correct and the firmware for the Maxtor drive is up to date.
I'm trying to get used my first iMac, and I'm having a bit of trouble printing from my wireless network. I have an HP Officejet 6210 that I have been using for the last couple of years with my Windows computer. I'm trying to print off of that through my network, but I keep getting this error
"There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or stop the job and try again."
I have printer sharing turned on through my Windows computer since the printer is connected directly through my windows computer. My other Windows computer that I have at the house can print through the network, but I'm having problems doing so with my iMac. I have the right driver selected through system preferences/print & fax, but it just won't print.
I have been trying everything I can think of to get 2 PC's on our home network to print on my Canon MP610 which is connected via USB to my MacBook Pro and the two PC's recognise the printer and add it as a device but when I try to print, the message "access denied, unable to connect" is displayed. I have set up my iMac, and have happily joined my Windows home network, file sharing does work easily and neatly but as I found out the other day, printing from a Mac that is connected to a Windows based network can be very difficult. So for a long time now, I have been trying to set up my iMac (connected via WiFi) so that it prints over my home network. The printer; an EPSON TX100 is connected to the USB port in a Windows XP desktop and I have set up Printer sharing. The desktop is connected to my D-Link G604T.
I have added the printer through System Pref: Print & Fax:+:Windows tab: 'network':'computer':'printer' and have tried using both the Generic Postscript driver and the specified printer driver.
When I go ahead and print, the printer icon appears in the dock and then quickly disappears without a printout. I have replaced the ink and paper but still no luck. I have tried the methods suggested on some other threads, but none have succeeded. I would be happy to provide any extra information and try anything. Networked printing works with all Windows computers in the house including a NEC laptop, so why wont it work with a Mac?
I'm trying to connect my leopard macbook to a Canon Pixma MP210 that his hooked up to an XP machine. Sharing is enabled in XP on the printer and I can successfully add the printer to the mac in system preferences. I've downloaded the proper drivers from Canon's website and selected them for the printer. The problem is that when I try to execute a print job, the print queue comes up and hangs on status "printing."
Also, on the XP machine, the print queue recognizes a job is being requested but the status hangs on "spooling." The document never actually prints. Finally after a couple minutes, the print queue in the mac has an error stating: "Error Number : 311 Printer is in use or an error has occurred. If an error has occurred, eliminate the cause of the error."
I am in need of some help with my AEBS v2. I just bought it today and a little bit confused coming from a Linksys.I have an HP Photosmart C4480 and setup the printing and it works with my MBP but when I try to add it for my sister's Windows XP laptop it can't find the printer whatsoever even with bonjour installed and all. I'm in need of your assistance to get it working.

I have been trying to set up this printer: Toshiba e studio 2330C And I can get it to print fine from Windows (parallels) but I can't get it to print from the OS X side. I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't get an option to enter my department code (5 digit number so admins can keep track of our printing). The document goes through to print but at the last second it says there is an error. When looking on the network windows computer, in which the printer is installed, I can see the document has gone through to print using the printer dialogue box for microsoft, but it details there is an error and the document doesn't print.
It seems that they are connected but there is still an error.Both Windows and Mac computers are up to date currently and the printer is a HP Deskjet F4180.
I have bucked the household Wintel trend and bought an iMac. I'd like to use our Kyocera printer which everyone else connects to via our WiFi (linksys) but my iMac doesn't see the device (internet yes). I installed bonjour for windows on the primary machine and it doesn't see the printer either. I have checked printer sharing everywhere to no avail. I am running OS X 10.5.6 and the rest of the machines in the house are Windows XP.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook recognizes the IP address of the network printer on the network I'm on here at the church I work at, but I cannot print to it because it requires an authentication track. When I click file>print in an excel sheet or a word document the print screen comes up. In the drop down menu where it says "copies & pages" there should be an option for an authentication track or number, but there is not. It is simply not there. There actually should be a lot more options but there are not. I simply have a few, scheduler, summary, layout, etc. What can I do to get to the point where I can authenticate to print on that printer?

I have a wireless router connected to the ADSL router. This wirless rouer is in another subnet 192.168.3.0.My Windows 7 notebook I am able to print wirelessly to the Canon using a manual configuration (IP printing). As for the Mac, I have installed the latest Canon CUPS drivers and the Canon IJ Network Tool. I use the Canon IJ Network tool, I am not able to scan for the printer. I configure manually with the IP address such as IPP://192.168.2.100 but it still cannot print. The status of printer goes from idle to busy.

I want to set up my dual gigabit ethernet as a network team; one for incoming traffic and one for outgoing traffic. (My machine acts as a server, with 2 internal raid striped 1 TB hard drives, and 2 external raid striped 1 TB hard drives (time machine for the computer); and 2 10,000 RPM raptor drives striped as my boot drive. Anyways, enough about that.) How do I do this? I currently have both ports connected to my Airport extreme wireless N with Gigabit, is there a way to do what I want to do with these products, or is there something else that I need to get as well?

I have all of my work information on my PC and am wanting to print to my new Canon Pixma printer which is connected to the MAC. I can "see" the printer when I go to printing preferences on my PC but when I hit print, I get an error message that says the printer if offline. I have all sharing enabled on both computers and when I go into the print queue, there is a document that is in there that it won't allow me to delete because it was "sent" by the owner "Valerie"....not sure if that is part of it or not. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just setup a Time Capsule to host a local wireless network to replace an older wireless/wired mixture.
The network works a treat, and our four office computers all pick it up without issue. I have plugged a USB Epson Inkjet printer into the TC's USB port, and all the networked computers can print to it without issue.
However, we also have a trusty LaserWriter 8500 that we use. I plugged this into the first ethernet (LAN) port on the TC , and expected just to be able to add it in the Print & Fax Preference pane. Sadly though, this is not the case. The printer cannot be found in the Default Browser, or the AppleTalk tab (AppleTalk has been turned on for AirPort).
Does any one know if there is network laser printer that has password protected printing feature, and it is supported under Mac OSX. Basically I'm looking for a printer for my office, to be used by all employees and some of them would use password to get their sensitive printouts.

My airport express is connected to the network with a CAT5 ethernet cable.
I use the setup in Aiport Utility and choose:

I want to connect AirPort Express to my network using Ethernet to extend my current netork or create a second network ->
I choose my network on the list and click continue ->
I want to connect AirPort Express to my network using Ethernet to extend my existing wireless network ->
And then it doenst join my network, but creates a new called Apple Network 00a133..
This looked like the best place to post this. I have two computers in my home, a 20" iMac with Leopard and a Desktop Dell with XP. There is an usb printer connected to the Dell, but its upstairs. The computers are connected through an ethernet cable. I was wondering if there was a way to print archives from the iMac to the usb printer. What i have been doing is either sharing the files and inserting them to a shared folder on windows xp or sending them to myself via email. I find both processes extremely annoying and boring, and would rather instead just directly send a command to the printer.

It doesn't have an airport facility so my friend has also given me a 802.11g wireless ethernet adapter. I have followed the instructions exactly (accessing the adapters internal configuration and setting it to the wireless networks SSID and channel, then going back into the network settings and re-setting it to "obtain IP address using DHCP') When i restart the computer the network status reads as "built in ethernet is active and has a self-assigned ip address. you may not be able to connect to the internet" (the marker next to it is yellow)
needless to say I cannot connect to the internet.
Is it possible to share the internet through a protected ethernet network on os x?.. and if so, how can I do it?
I'm well aware that I can make a protected wireless network.
What might be the reason for this? I had to look up my IP address and configure it manually, so I got it to display as "connected," but there is still no internet when I turn off airport.
