View 2 RepliesWhen I boot into windows, I can't connect to the internet. This is not because I don't have a router nearby, it's because there is no wireless. Usually, from what I've seen, there's a little icon at the bottom that tell if you connected or not, I don't see it. I can't find where to access that window that gives you a list of networks in range. I tried repairing the drivers a few times, but I still can't connect.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 on my MBP. When I inserted my SL disc, I did not see an option for Boot Camp. All I saw were two things asking about Remote Mac OS X install and some Disc sharing. Something as if my MBP was a MacBook Air.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I am putting Windows 7 on my MBP, so I can play FFXIV, and I noticed I don't have the install disk for my MBP, so that I can install the drivers for the laptop. Is there somewhere I can download these onto a USB and then install them in WIN 7 from my USB drive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system onto my MacBook Pro 13 inch. I have the most basic Macbook Pro 13 inch with nothing fancy added. Whenever I load up the Windows 7 OS on my Macbook, it never utilizes or even realizes that I have the NVIDIA graphics card in my laptop. It instead believes I have some integrated graphics card that cannot even run the most basic of PC games. I know my laptop can run these games because on OSX it runs multiple games with higher requirements than these games I am trying to run on Windows.
Basic question: How do I get bootcamp or whatever else to make Windows 7 realize I have a NVIDIA card and drivers. Sorry if I am coming off as stupid or confusing.
So i am trying to change my apple boot camp drivers to nvidia's, but i think i must have downloaded the wrong ones, or done something wrong. I tried to install Geforce/Ion driver release 192.62, (from nvidia's site, i selected gefore 8 series) and when i ran the setup it said: 'nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' . My questions are:
Which drivers should i download? a link would be great.
Are there any pre-requisites i must do, such as install version 170 first?
I am using an iMac 24" with 4gb ram, 500gb 5400 rpm HDD, and 8800 GS 512mb.
The reason I am trying this, is because when i play some online games, i often get bad lag spikes, but that chat is still running. Someone recommended me to 'update my drivers'.
I have a Macbook plastic, 2.4 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram.My Mac is currently running on OS X, i used to have a 40 gig partition Windows XP, a couple of friends of mine where talking about how much they liked Windows 7 and finally i had had enough blue screens to say, sure ill switch, why not?... assuming it would not take longer then lets say a day at most, i set off on my quest.
FWI, im running an older model Macbook that was bought refurbished (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem). anyway i removed my previous partition, then using Boot Camp Assistant i repartitioned a 40 gig section for Windows 7. Then ran the installer. I have a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 86x. The Windows boot screen turned up, i had to reformat the partition so that i could install, no problems there. after all said and done the installation worked perfectly, up to a point... First problem that appeared was the lack of sound. i fixed that by downloading Realtek's High Def sound drivers.
Then it was the rest of the drivers for the macbook. heres where i run into my problem, i have the Mac OSX install discs 1 and 2. inserting the first disc the option of the auto run of the setup popped up i clicked run. and instead of the same old install drivers option all i have is the option to install the software that lets macbook airs share cd/dvd drives... needless to say i got frustrated and to put it lightly pissed off...
unsure of wtf was going on i looked it up online and really couldnt find anyone with the same problem, i found a web page saying that i should have the windows auto update itself and that should fix the problem. it did not. i dont know what the hell is going on. and im about this close to reinstalling windows xp and telling windows 7 to go **** itself...
I can't find the answers I know its been asked before.
Its the 2010 MBP 13"
I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit running through parallels 5 and it seems to be missing alot of drivers (wireless most importantly, but also audio etc). Where can I get these, is it the same as bootcamp drivers( are they on one of the disks that come with macs?).
I've installed a legit copy of Windows XP, SP2. Nothing works, not my webcam, not my internet, not even the full resolution. The first time around that I did this, I had the DVD that came with my iMac, I installed the Windows drivers stuff off of it, and everything worked perfectly.
Can anyone point me in the direction of either a replacement for that DVD (.iso image or something?) or simply the required drivers that will let my iMac 8,1 connect to the web?
I boot camped my Macbook Unibody 13" (bought early 2009) with windows 7. However the bootcamp version was 2.0. I now cannot get drivers from the 3.0 bootcamp update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOver the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.
I clicked the little jellybean thing on the top right, and it only makes the menubar appear and disappear, but the sidebar is still gone.i don't have a little dot on the left hand side so i have nothing to drag. i checked my finder preferences and the folders are still checked.but even after all that... still no side bar.

I noticed that the drivers are not yet 64 bit compliant so I searched KM web site and download the latest drivers in the hope that they would be compliant (They were not)
So the fix here (Mainly Safari, iCab & Textedit, is to open them in 32 bit mode (Command I, more information, click open in 32 bit mode).
After installing I could not print with a message saying the drivers were not correctly installed.
As per title... Loud grinding sound, goes away on restart, seems to be happening more consistently in the past few days (noticed it last week for first time). The MBP is 3 years old I have an appointment at apple store for tomorrow, im pretty sure they'll just say that the right fan needs to be replaced (applecare warranty ended a month ago of course)
View 5 Replies View RelatedOnce anyone gets to test the new MBA out (next month?), if you can please post the results on heat issues. Eg the initial MBA in many cases was only usable at 50% CPU/GPU (for more than a few minutes) due to heat issues. Does the new one fix it? If so, it is effectively more than double the speed.. more like 3-4x faster if that makes sense. If GPU is much faster AND heat issues are fixed, this could be a huge performance boost..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed an update for it just a moment ago, and when it rebooted it isn't loading up! It loads the dock, and the 2 icons for the harddrives (OSX and Windows) show up, then it does the spinning rainbow of death and nothing else happens and I can't open up any apps or do anything! I've tried rebooting several times and nothing. sometimes loads up odd and a reboot will fix it, but this time it's not fixing! Any reason for why it does this at all though? There's nothing wrong with my computer and it runs fine when it does load up, but it just gives me difficulty on occasion just starting up though. Now all my icons load up but it freezes when I click on something.

I have been laboring for weeks to determine which macbook pro to purchase. We are new to apple having only enjoyed the iphone and ipad. We only have used windows desktops and laptops but love the look of the macbook pro's and imacs. We want a desktop replacement laptop. We just want to move it around the home and now and then take it out somewhere so we dont care about the 15 or 17 being too big. Dont want an imac as we do want some limited mobility.
Regarding the resolution issue I am drawn to the 17 because the 1900 x 1200 looks awesome. I am not sure if I like to 1440 x 900. It seems a bit blurry and not as sharp.Dont care for the antiglare as I love the corner to corner glass look and Ill have it indoors mainly. Any thoughts or experiences with the 1900x1200 vs the 15inch options as I have only used both for a bit in the local apple store?
I have heard the i7 2.66 in the 15 and 17 pros run extremely hot, too hot to even use on your lap. Is this true because I wanted to get the i7? I have had too many windows pc laptop fry over the course of two to three years from over heating and fear putting 2k into a good looking machine that will internally melt in a couple years. If it is just a design for the heat to dissipate out from the inside to be absorbed into the unibody that is fine if that is the case. Any body know, or does anyone who has the i7 in the 15 or 17 know?
So if the heat isnt too bad in the i7 I will get it in the i7. If the i5s run much cooler I will get the i5. If it is worth the money to get the 1900x1200 resolution I will get the 17inch, if not Ill stick witht he 1440x900 or the 1650x1050 or whatever that is. Is the higher resolution nicer and is the i7 cool enough?
My power connector strip has broken apart on my iBookG4. In the past, I would put it on, by using a safety pin, to short-circuit it to fire it up. It eventually froze up, I took the battery out and put it back in. Previously, in the past this has worked to get it back on. However, now I cannot get it back on.

View 24 Replies View RelatedCan anyone explain to me why this is happening and how to fix it (see screenshot)? It's supremely irritating when I happen to be in a directory where a parent folder ends with "o", because then it does this crap with the slash and it shifts all the text back one space but leaves the cursor out in front. This happens on both my Leopard machines.
On a related note, what's with the fancy quotes in Terminal now? How unnecessary...is there a way to turn those off too?
I try command + c or v and it doesnt want to copy or paste anything
also right click in itunes doesnt work?
What can i do to fix this?
I notice that the screen on my macbook air is not as sharp as my 4 yr old sony vaio s460. Is this the nature of the screen? I read chinese and there is a huge difference in sharpness with my vaio for small fonts compared to the air
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble with my Logitech V450 Nano mouse. It feels awkward compared to a regular PC mouse.
To be more specific, I have trouble accurately moving the cursor. When I move the cursor a short distance, it feels like I'm moving through mud. By contrast, when I move the mouse over a longer distance, it feels much faster. This makes it really difficult for me to close windows and play any sort of FPS game.
Now, the Logitech software allows me to change the mouse acceleration, but it still feels really awkward. I've experimented with almost every setting but the speed still doesn't feel accurate/consistent. Does this make sense or am I taking crazy pills?
For some strange reason, my early 2008 Mac Pro keeps making hard-drive access sounds / head-moving sounds. It's been doing it non stop for 3 days now. The sounds are short, about 3 per second, about as fast as you would read this: "grind grind grind" then a short half-second pause, then repeat. Sometimes there's a longer 1-2 second delay. But it almost always seems like triplets, "grind grind grind"
I have no apps or background processes running that I've been able to discover. I've checked startup items, launch agents, and launch daemons.
I've checked Activity monitor but I see nothing unusual, and no correlation with any cpu activity.
I've checked disk utility and SMART is verified, permissions are repaired, and the disk is verified to be "OK."
I've tried fs_usage, lsof, and top, and see no correlation to anything.
I'm clearly missing something and am hoping someone can point out what it is? What else can I do to determine what the disk activity is doing? Are there any apps or other UNIX commands to check? Or is my drive dying?
I've done a search and not really found what I'm after. So here it is..
I like to edit photos, but I've never been confident in doing this on my Macbook, as I edit them and then on another display they always look different and over exposed.
Is it just a bad screen for colour accuracy or is it the calibration? What's the best way to sort this?
My home folder is on my second internal drive. That's where my itunes library is also. I went to install a app from itunes and I got the message in my attachment.
