IMac :: Stop Downloading Files/copying To Clipboard And Saving Files To Desktop?

Nov 29, 2009

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?

iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.

When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.

MacBook :: Rapidshare Keeps Downloading Windows Files / Files Having Parallels Symbol?

Jan 31, 2010

On Rapidshare, I've download a lot of files such as .rar files on my mac and everything has worked fine. Up until today, I downloaded a few and they are windows files because they have the parallels symbol (Yes I have parallels) but my parallels isn't running. So i went back and tried to download old files that I had previously been opened with Mac OSX and they too are opening as parallel files. I dont understand why all the files want me to download the windows version. The only thing that I changed was i finally upgraded my MacPar Deluxe because there was a new version but that's the only thing. So can someone please help me fix this problem. I dont want to download windows files while on my mac.

OS X :: Unable To Download Files / Browsers Stopped Downloading Files

Jul 21, 2010

So a while ago i installed iGetter and jDownloader to handle some of my downloading needs. These have both been uninstalled a while ago and i seem to have the problem that if i navigate to a file in my browser it will not download, it just sits there and does nothing. This is really anoyying as i can't download any files anymore

I presume one of these applications has disabled this behaviour in os x so that it can hijack it and use the app to download files. Does anybody know how to revert this so that browsers can handle downloads properly?

OS X :: Mac Files Downloading On A PC?

Feb 18, 2009

If I download and burn mac applications on a pc CD with win2k will a new MBP be able to read the disk and use the application installers without a hitch? From what I remember, dont PCs add an extra bit or something that corrupts the file somewhat? I also have an old Mac with OS9 on it, should I just download the apps on there and burn them with it instead? I need to make sure I have these apps available the day the MBP arrives, so I wanted to know the best way to go about it. All I have is an old Pismo with OS9, and an old pc with win2k

Safari downloads .wav files from my dictation manager web site with a .exe extension. I'm assuming this has something to do with the MIME types defined on that page. Software :: Mac MAIL Messes Up Downloading Zip Files

Feb 5, 2010

I'm macbook pro 10.6.2 using macmail 4.2 1077 when I get a normal unzipped attachment, it's no problem-- downloads fine. whenever I get a zip file attached, tho, I can see the components in the mail window, like normal. but when I download, it throws the (lets say 5) files onto my desktop and none can be opened by any app. when I go back to my aol software (that ancient piece of nonsense) it sees the zip file and doesn?t presume to tell me what?s inside. the decrepit AOLsoftware then downloads the zip file, and then expands it after, and voila! I get everything perfectly inside a folder on my desktop. I had this problem with the last macmail I was using with 10.4, too what gives? is there a setting I can change?

OS X :: Downloading Software Update Files Directly From Apple?

Oct 29, 2010

Does anyone know if it is possible to download the Software Update files directly from Apple? Back when I used to work on Windows machines, I'd download Service Packs and burn them to CD, so I could avoid the time it took to download them for each individual machine that I set up. I would like to do the same for OS X. After a fresh install, there's always this 600+ MB file that takes forever to download. It would make my setup tasks and disaster recovery much quicker if I had the packages on CD.

OS X :: Downloading Files To Specific Destinations Depending On Type?

Aug 29, 2009

I was wondering if I have the ability to set my download preferences for my Mac (I'm running Snow Leopard -- just installed it yesterday!) to send certain file types to specific destinations. For example, I want to set up several folders so that when I download a .gif or .jpeg file, it will go into my "Pictures" folder. Also, as I download .pdf files religiously for my academic pursuits (which just so happens to be in the field of religion...), I'd like to make a specific "Articles" folder to have all .pdf files download into it. I hope this makes sense.

Applications :: Safari Downloads/Window Does Not Show Downloading Files

The Downloads window will show the number of files downloading at the bottom of the screen, but the window is completely empty of files. The files do download, but I would like to be able to see the status of the downloads.

Any ideas on how to get the downloads to display again? I have tried resetting Safari and rebooting, but no luck so far.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Internet Is Slow After Downloading Windows 7 Files?

May 12, 2012

Last night, I downloaded Parallels onto my computer and everything was fine.  I then downloaded the Windows 7 files from the Microsoft Store and the download speed was excellent -- took about 30 minutes to download ~300 GB of files.  After attempting to click on these files to open them, they wouldn't open, and I realized that I should have purchased through the Parallels online store.

Shortly after this, I realized that my Internet speed was very slow, maybe 2-3 KB/sec.  I uninstalled Parallels and cleared the Windows files from the Downloads screen, but Internet was still slow. Installing Windows can wait for another time (and maybe I'll just use Boot Camp instead).  For now, all I want is to get my fast Internet speed back.
