Does anyone know where I can download a free image editing program that shows the pixel values changing as the image is being cropped? The best basic program that does this is Microsoft Picture Manager, so I basically need something like this for the Mac.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to this seeing as my last macbook ran flawlessly for 6 years. Anyways, I just purchased a new macbook pro, and I love it except for the fact that I will get this weird white pixel that shows up on my desktop. The pixel is screenshotable and seems like it is sitting on a layer above my mouse. This pixel goes away when I restart my computer, but I think it comes back when I use microsoft word. This pixel moves off the screen when I use expose, and it is only present in desktop one. If i were to open a new desktop or view an app in full screen mode, the pixel is not there. I have tried reinstalling microsoft office but to no avail.

Just got a brand new MacBook Pro 15" a week ago with the standard specs. I have noticed whenever I'm playing a video that's bought or downloaded from iTunes, a pixel on the up-left corner of the screen starts flashing between blue and black like crazy, at first I thought it was a physical defect, but when I stop playing videos the stuck pixel disappears. I ran a number of test and confirmed it wasn't the screen's problem. All the firmwares are up to date by the way.

I have a Dual 2GHz PowerPC with the stock video card (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro) and have had a Dell 2405FPW monitor connected to it via DVI cable and it has worked flawlessly for a couple of years... until this week.
Now the image seems to be "off" by about one or two pixels. Just a bit blurry here and there and when I move the mouse across the screen, the entire screen image seems to shift a little bit.
I've tried power cycling, re-connecting the cable, unplugging everything, resetting the monitor settings in the control panel, factory-reset of the LCD settings..

Is there any way to get the original image out of that, without damaging it too much?

I have a mid 2010 iMac 27" 3.2 GHz Intel Core i312 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (just upgraded in the hope that it would improve the problem - it didn't)ATI Radeon HD 5670 512 MBMac OS X Lion 10.7.4 That spec should be more than ample. No. Pixelmator uses up to 5GB yes - GB) just opening the app. If I dare to open an actual image - let's say a 120mb jpg for editing - the memory usage is even higher - usually resulting in the image not opening at all. GIMP is similar, but not as extreme - opening the file uses around 2GB. Nevertheless, both of the above seem to me to be examples of excessive memory usage. Certainly, my machine slows to a crawl when doing anything related to images?

screen resolution of the MBP 13" is too small to do video/image editing with tools like the iLife suite, Final Cut Express, Photoshop..? And for using developers' tools like XCode? I would use it in my freetime and not for work.. It would be my first MBP and I'm using a 15" laptop with 1680x1050 resolution, so I would loose a lot of pixels, but I don't want to spend so much on a 15"/17" MBP since I do not think they've yet entered the next level Steve Jobs was talking about.. View 22 Replies View RelatedWith the new iTunes 9.2.1(5), I seem to have trouble sorting some of my video files. Every video file (converted from .avi to .mp4 with Handbrake, using the "Universal Apple" preset) I throw at iTunes seem to be added to the Movies section. I tried updating the metadata from Get Info, filling out the Video tab with appropriate names, season number, episode number and episode ID. That didn't get anywhere. I tried putting "TV Shows" as a genre but that doesn't do anything either. I even tried making a new folder in the iTunes folder, naming it "TV Shows" and throwing videos in there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I compose a message in mail and drag an images into the mail it just shows up as an icon. So I can't see the image in the mail. I relized today that when I send the mail and the recipient opens tha mail the image is just displayed really really small.. I've tried to setup a new user on the same machine and when I compose a mail with that user drag and drop works beautifully and the images shows in the mail just as it should.I’ve tried: defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 1 (and I tried setting it to 0 as well) but no difference. I’m running 10.10.1 and mail 8.1. Anyway I can solve this or a work-around would be great that doesn't involve migrating to the test account.. Can I either reset the mailsettings, or copy any .plist that hold the mail.app settings from the test account (where it works as it should)?

I'm having a problem changing icons in 10.6.1. I have an .icns image I want to use as an icon, however when I go to "get info" and add the new icon, it just shows a blank ".icns" image.
Example (The icon I want to use is the CS4 icon to the right)
just bought my imac 27' i7 2 weeks ago and so far i returned it twice because of the tiny crack in the screen and this is gonna be the third time today because of the stuck pixel. This is the first time me owning mac and so far all have is problem....now im debating if i should get my money back or give it another shot since they reset your 14 days return policy from the day you did the return or maybe i can ask them to let me upgrade to mac pro with out extra cost since all i have was problem. but anyway, here is the picture to my stuck pixel. let me know what chu think.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I recently got a new iMac that has Snow Leopard and I noticed that this is about the second time that my mouse cursor has gotten stuck... not stuck in location, but the image of the cursor.
I'll move over a textbox and then it changes to the I bar cursor, but then I move away and it stays that... I move over a link and it turns into the finger icon, then I move away and it's still a finger.
Still in the beginnings of diagnosing, but I do have two user accounts logged in. The other account only has a Safari window open though, nothing exciting.
The background image of time machine suggests that going back in time brings you to the "Big Bang". Is there a way way to change this to something more realistic?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe Finder window shows that I have 302GB of harddrive space remaining, out of 500GB. The Activity Monitor and Disk Utility show I have 240GB space remaining, and my System Profiler shows I have 239GB remaining. I just deleted a bunch of old TV shows off of iTunes (about 40GB worth) to open up some space, but only the Finder changed (up to 302GB from 260GB) but the Activity Monitor, Disk Utility, and System Profiler haven't changed.
Now, I'll assume the Finder is showing the correct amount of space, but I'm wondering why the other utilites are showing the incorrent amount of space. I have a feeling maybe something was screwed up when I created a 50GB Windows 7 partition through Boot Camp a couple months ago.
I've attempted to Repair Disk through the Disk Utility and it says everything looks fine. Any solutions to this minor inconvenience? Or at least an answer as to why this is happening?

I use to love paint.net on windows - I do lots of image editing where I need something more powerful than paint on windows (or paintbrush on os x), but don't want the learning curve and extra features of Photoshop or GIMP. Also, I'd like it to be free if at all possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I am using Google image search in Safari, my MacBook freezes for about 20-30 seconds before it shows the results. It just shows me grey boxes in the beginning and loads for a long time. I had the same issue with my old MBPro, but also with my beand-new one.

On my Macbook, running Leopard, I recently changed all my icons. (applications, folders, default files, etc.) I changed the Finder and Trash icons via System/Library/CoreServices. But the Dock won't recognize that the Finder icon has changed-- it's still showing me the old icon. That's Problem 1.
Then I created a new user account, and discovered that on that account the Dock shows the correct Finder image. But Problem 2: the new account doesn't recognize my default file icons. It flashes them for a second when I save the file, and then reverts back to the regular white default image. (Even though all the .icns files are correct in the application's Resources folder.) I really don't want to download Candybar or anything, since I know it can be done without that.
