OS X :: Deleting Windows And Everything Associated With It?

Mar 15, 2009

I installed windows using bootcamp on my Macbook, I really don't use it that much and id rather have the space free to use for my macintosh HD. How do I go about deleting it, so that it will get rid of everything associated with it? Do I eject the windows HD? Do I move it to the trash? Is there something else I should do?

Windows On Mac :: Deleting Parallel Set Up

Apr 27, 2009

I just recently got parallels, and someone else set it up for me. The guy only put 8gb on it, and i really need more. I don't wanna deal with expanding and stuff because its too much trouble for something that I have nothing on anyway. Im wondering how to delete the image file, and then create a new partition. And also, if creating a new partition needs the windows cd again, because i don't have it anymore

Safari :: Deleting 5.1.4 Completely From Windows

Mar 21, 2012

I've been trying to unistall Safari so I can reinstall Safari and start with a clean slate. However, Safari seems to 'remember' all of my old settings, and use them again after I reinstall the software. Is there a way to wipe any trace of Safari off of my computer, so I can download it like it's 'the first time'?

Windows On Mac :: Deleting Xp Operating System Off Macbook

Apr 26, 2009

i got my macbook about 2 years ago when my mum bought it for me for christmas. My mum, being a completle idiot when it comes to computers, did not realise that it doesnt have windows on or that i did not have a clue how to use a mac.

So i immediatly asked my dad computer genius friend to change the operating system to windows xp. This means that when i turn the computer on there is NOT an option to go on either mac or windows it is JUST windows.

Two years later a really regret my decision and was wondering if i somehow found out how to remove windows would my mac operating system still be there or would i have to re install it completly?

Windows On Mac :: Won't Work With Reinstalling Bootcamp / VM Ware After Deleting

Aug 31, 2010

So I had Bootcamp installed. I then installed VMware. During setup it automatically detected the Bootcamp partition and things were great. I then deleted Bootcamp for other reasons and have since reinstalled it. I am not sure how to get VM to point at Bootcamp now? It did it automatically last time. I have deleted the physical disk from settings. I just can't figure out how to get back at Bootcamp.

Windows On Mac :: Deleting Win7 Partition With Disk Utility

Mar 24, 2010

I am planning to upgrade my Windows 7 32 bit bootcamp partition to Windows 7 64 bit. I know I have to do a clean install to do this, so I am planning to wipe my Windows partition and start from scratch. I am trying to figure out how to remove my bootcamp partition though. If I use the bootcamp assistant, it seems like it will only give me 231gb of space back for Mac OSX. I have a 250gb HD, so where is the extra space going since my Windows partition is 42gb? Can I just delete it with Disk Utility to recover the space back? Could I possibly screw this up by using Disk Utility?

Applications :: Deleting Windows Partition With Parallels & Boot Camp?

Apr 27, 2009

I have on my hard drive a Leopard partition and a Windows 7 partition. I am looking to delete the Windows partition and then have the full hard drive as one Leopard partition, hopefully without any reformatting. Firstly when I installed the Windows partition I did so through bootcamp. I also have parallels 4.0 and so I was able to set up a virtual machine (VM) of this bootcamp partition. I want to now completely get rid of windows on my machine though I am not sure of the best way to do so. I guess working backwards is best: delete the parallels VM then delete the bootcamp partition? Is this the best way to do it? Will the deleted space on my hard drive be converted to space on my Leopard partition?

(I wish to get rid of windows because I am having problems with my mac sleeping. I just want to see if windows is the culprit. Hopefully it is as I have tried everything else including an SMC reset, short of reformatting and installing.) I have backups of everything btw.

Windows On Mac :: Bootcamp Backup Via Disk Utility - Restore With Or Without Deleting Partition?

Jun 23, 2009

I would like to "Back-up", "Clone" or create an "Image" or whatever else people call it of my bootcamp installation. I know I can create an "Image" of bootcamp via disk utility but how would I restore it?

Would I first delete the bootcamp partition and then re-create a bootcamp partition and then restore? Or would I just restore? Will the end result be what I am expecting, i.e., my Win 7 install right back to the perfect state of when I created the image?

Right now, let's say my Windows 7 install got smoked one day for whatever reason (it is windows...) and I needed to re-install. Me personally, I would just go into Bootcamp Assistant, delete the Windows partition then create a new one and then get installing. Unfortunately installing and updating takes hours and that is what I am trying to avoid.

Windows On Mac :: Getting Hard Drive Space Back - After Deleting Boot Camp Partition

Dec 27, 2009

I recently got rid of a partition I had made for bootcamp since I never use it, and would rather have the space back. I deleted the partition through disc utility, and then through the partition tab, tried to get back that space by dragging down the tab to restore the space originally set for the partition. When I go to apply this change, it notifies that my hard drive will be re-sized. I accept and then a few minutes later it comes back with the error "Partition failed with the error: Filesystem verify or repair failed" Does anybody know how I can restore this space successfully back into my main hard drive? I've attached some screenshots

OS X :: Deleting Far More Backups Than Necessary?

Jul 14, 2009

I just restored my system early this evening with Time Machine. After doing some stuff tried to run a back up and noticed that it was deleting far more backups than necessary:It seems like it thinks it has to backup the whole drive, and so is deleting everything to make up the space. At best I've copied a few GB over from another drive. Either way, it's strange that is requested 308.08 GB given that my iMac HD only has 264 GB of stuff. This Apple article seems to confirm this:[URL]Is there any way to just do an incremental backup? I don't want to loose my (remaining) previous backups is possible?

Software :: Is ISP Deleting Mail

Mar 1, 2008

I have a problem I can't see has been addressed anywhere else. If I've missed a thread, please someone guide me to it.I have mac mail. I also have an ususual situation in that I am an adult webmaster. I often get emails with words (not four letter words, but, for example, the word "spanking") in the subject line. These emails can be from peole who are in my address book. I also will get mail from friends who are writing me from their own websites, for example [URL]I have tested this from a gmail account. An email will come into my mac.com account. I can see it up on the server. Within minutes, my mail program on my home machine checks for new mail. Not only does the "offending" email not download, but it is then DELETED from I have checked every setting in Mail, and cannot see anything that would be causing this. I have turned off junk mail filtering completely, for example. The only conclusion I can come to is that my ISP had decided for me that I don't want the mail, and is not only preventing me from receiving it on my computer (bad enough), but is telling mac.com to delete it.

I am extremely frustrated by this. I fear confronting my isp because to do so I would need to admit that I am running adult websites from my home, something that no doubt is against the TOS (though of course they are not hosted at my house.) I don't want to be forced to use web based mail exclusively . I like Mail and want to continue using it, but I am not getting mail from my writers and contributors, and not getting customer services queries.

OS X :: Deleting Old TM Backups (certain Folders Only)?

Feb 15, 2009

On my 500GB external hard drive I have a 200GB partition where all my Time Machine backups go.

The situation is: I have some backup folders from when I first started to use TM, then I have some backup folders from when I was using TM with my SSD (fresh install, different backup), then I have some folders from when I switched back from my SSD to my 5400RPM drive (again, fresh install, didn't restore).

I wanted to check out SuperDuper, so I need to go through the backup folders and delete the junk (Applications folders, etc.), keeping the important stuff (most of which isn't on this drive, since I did not do a restore).

Unfortunately, it tells me "The operation can't be completed because backup items can't be modified." Does anyone know how to force delete these without reformatting the partition (last resort)? I found a possible solution that involves opening TM, browsing to the folder, hitting the Actions gear and clicking Delete This Backup or something, but that option isn't in the list. I am only able to pick "Delete All Backups of xxx".

Mac Pro :: Deleting Files On Raid 0?

Apr 9, 2009

I've just setup a Raid 0 with 3 drives (WD R3 320GB x 3) in Disk Utility.

The problem I have - I'm not sure if it's normal or not - is :

When I want to delete a file I've got the dialog box saying "The Item 'XX' will be deleted immediately. Are you sure you want to continue?".

Is this a normal behaviour of a Raid 0 ?

I was expecting that my file goes in the trash (like on a normal drive).

Can someone tell me if "the delete immediately" is a normal behaviour ?
