When I wake my computer half the time I do not have a cursor. Is anyone else having this issue?
Sometimes when I open apps and shake my mouse it comes back. I also usually use expose to start my screen saver and then shake the mouse to turn it off.
FYI: i7 iMac with Magic Mouse
on certain web sites my mouse cursor just disappears sometimes does this happen to anyone else. huffingtonpost is on that it happens on often.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I wake from sleep, my mouse cursor is a beachball that is NOT spinning. I can use my mouse like normal, move it, and click on things, but its still a beachball. I beleive it stays like this until the mouse is actually supposed to be a beachball (when I open a few programs at the same time and the computer starts "thinking"), then it starts spinning and after that it goes back to the normal black arror cursor.
Might be a problem from the 10.5.3 update? anyone else experience this?
My mouse cursor is dissapearing from the screen nearly all the time, SUP apple, it just works, huh or nuh. Seems to have been a problem for a while

My doc disappears every few minutes than reappears suddenly. I have no idea why this is happening. When the doc disappears from the bottom of my desktop I cannot downsize anything until it reappears. Very frustrating! I tried to find something in system preferences but couldn�t. Has anyone else out there had this happen? I�m running 10.2.4.

I have this issue where my cursor just disappears on my screen. It still registers as there and I can click on things, but cant see the cursor until I bring it down to the dock, and it reappears. It happened a lot with my old mouse, even after I changed the battery, so finally I got a new mouse about a month ago... and now it's happening again.

I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro with retina display. I have had an intermittent problem with the cursor disappearing. It is extremely annoying and I haven't been able to stop it.
I reset the SMC, it worked for a while but the problem is back now.
Everything was fine. Then I ran the software update and there was Safari 4.0.5 and I decided to update. After my iMac had restarted, the OS went completely berserk. If I click the dropdown menus, they start to flicker and run trough over and over again by itself and I can't click anything. My mouse buttons do straight things, bring up the finder and then I can't even go through the folders. I can't write with my keyboard, it just gives me random letters and I can't delete them. I mean the computer went completely crazy. I've never seen anything like this and I've used this iMac perfectly now almost two years. Everything is just flashing, flickering, jamming, cursor disappearing and doing straight things, I can't do pretty much anything. This has to be a virus, right?

If I pair a bluetooth mouse to my Macbook Pro, will it wake itself up inside it's bag (potentially over heating it and killing my batter) if it receives input from the mouse?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when my rMBP (late 2013, Mavericks) turns off the display automatically while on battery (as configured via Energy Saver) and I try to wake it immediately, I get a black screen with the cursor, rather than my password/unlock screen. It remains a black screen, with the cursor moveable, for 5-10 seconds or so, and then the password/unlock screen will appear as usual.
This does not happen if:I don't try to wake the display/computer immediately after automatic display sleep (e.g., I wait 5-10 seconds and it's fine)I turn off the display using a hot corner and immediately wake the displayI put the computer to sleep by closing the lid and immediately wake it by opening the lidI select Sleep from the System/Apple menu and immediately wake it by pressing a key or clicking on the trackpad
Why automatic display sleep is causing this temporary black screen? I currently get around it by setting the time for automatic display sleep while on battery to 10 minutes instead of the default 3 minutes to minimize the chances of needing to immediately wake the screen. I'd like to keep it at 3 minutes if possible to maximize energy savings, but the temporary black screen is really annoying if I didn't really want display sleep and consequently have to wake immediately.
Something weird happens to my mouse sometimes and it seems to only happen (I think) when Parallels is running. The pointer just disappears. It turns invisible. It doesn't only happen when the pointer is inside the Parallels window, it also happens when I am using Mac apps. I am using Version 2.5 (and can see no real reason to upgrade to 3) and yes, I have installed Parallels tools!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse, and have been since i got my macbook about 9 months ago. I love the mouse, but i have noticed a lag in the cursor. At random times, the mouse cursor starts to lag. When this occurs, i will either clean off the lens or turn it off and back on. Most of the time, these alternatives do not work. I then just wait and it eventually turns back to normal.

On my intel iMac's primary display (but not my external display)... the mouse cursor will disappear while moving the cursor, then reappear after the movement is over, so it looks like the cursor is flickering rapidly when it's in motion. This flickering problem will happen with a normal cursor only intermittently (usually when the cursor is over a scrollbar), but it always happens when the cursor changes to a crosshairs for screen capture (command-shift-4). As mentioned above, this only happens on the internal LCD, not my external monitor.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm switching over from Vista so still trying to get used to snow leopard. Couple of things that are bugging me:
1) The trackpad seems to lag slightly when I select text or re-position windows on the screen. What I mean is that when I double click and drag to select some text for example, when I lift my finger from the trackpad (which should end the select procedure) and move the cursor elsewhere, text selection still happens. The only way around this is to not touch the trackpad for about a second before I can move the mouse cursor elsewhere. Is there a way to get rid of this 1 second lag?
2) When I'm typing, and want to move the key cursor over my text, when holding down the arrow keys, the cursor still moves over text very slowly. Is there a way to speed this up?
I would like to capture some videos from my screen and use them as part of a video I am going to edit. The video would be of me accessing an application, letting it run and then capturing all of this. Yet I would like it so that the mouse doesn't appear while you are doing this. Is is possible to hide the mouse cursor at will, so that it is invisible?

It still works because things are hilighted on the screen and I can still click things when i move the trackpad around with my finger, there is just no pointer on the screen. This only started happening this week and I have had this computer for about 7 months.

I use a kensington usb bluetooth adapter to the belkin usb hub to use my magic mouse on the macpro desktop, in the bluetooth options for the mouse, the waking up the computer option is greyed out. Is there any way to wake up using the mouse or do I have to wake up using the power button on the tower itself?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis Imac 7.1 2ghz, 20" is less than a year old. I switched because it promised friendlier functioning especially for my wife. I use Parallels for XP/Quicken only. What drives me crazy is a 2-5 second delay for almost anything I do: scroll, copy, move cursor, any art or photo ops and TYPing. I read all the things to reduce the Pinwheel and did them. Finally I added 2 more Gigs of memory (total 4) and it made no difference. Activity monitor shows tons of free memory.
I cannot believe that I use my tiny Asus to type most of my stuff now because on the iMac I can type something then in the middle of a word, count 'one thousand 1-3 then sometimes get a pinwheel for 2 counts and it resumes typing. It does not seem to matter much if I close everything else (wow that eliminates all that handy windows stuff Apple is famous for).
I am be watching a movie on my iMac, or just do other tasks, and everything would all of a sudden freeze up on me, with the mouse cursor the only thing moving around. The system wont let me do anything, and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off.

On my MBP, after maybe a day or two without rebooting (ie. just closing the lid), the mouse cursor drop shadow disappears and the cursor gets jaggy/aliased edges (imagine the cursor from Windows XP, but black). A reboot will bring it back.
The MacBook Pro is a stock late 2009 17" - 2.8Ghz, 4GB etc. with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (this annoyance has happened since 10.6.1). I have the graphics mode set to performance as 90% of the time I use the machine, I'm plugged in.
I've tried to see if there's a pattern to it, but it's seemingly random. Sometimes it's the same day as a reboot, sometimes I go a whole week without rebooting and still have the proper cursor. It's pretty weird. I originally thought it may have related to opening the lid while on battery power, however it's happened a couple of times when I've opened the lid while plugged.
Edit: Another interesting point.... if I plug an external display in, the cursor gets back its shadow, but then when I unplug the screen, it will return to the jaggy look (until a reboot).
Is there a utility that I can use that will allow me to have the same precision and accuracy with a mouse in mac OS as I have in windows? There is a very different feel when using a mouse in OS X, and I just don't like it.
