I have a M2TS video file and i need it in a MPEG 4 format.
Any searches on google turn up the same garbage software that i have to pay 40$ for. like i'm going to pay 40$ for some idiots crappy software.
any suggestions for a FREE video converter would be greatly appreciated.
also the video is 1080P HD in case you need to know that.
I have searched everywhere and can not get a good answer. I just bought myself a new imac and this is my first mac. I used to use convertxtodvd on my pc.
I read that toast titanium does a good job of converting any video file to dvd but you can not download it to try it out, you just have to buy it. I do not want to waste my money if it does not turn out to be the quality I am looking for.
Any suggestions of any programs that does this task and performs well?
I am having trouble finding a free video converter. I wish to convert .mp4, .avi, etc to .wmv so I can watch them on my xbox and hopefully transfer them. I have tried a few converters most that just don't work or are 'trials' and are useless.

I found one called mpegstream clip which is good, but it seems to only do one at a time, it there a feature in it that can do more than one at a time? One at a time is ok for 4 videos or less, but when I have more than that it can get a little tedious. Well, as I looked thru dozens of forums and tried out a lot - I still have no answer to my problem. I want to use m2ts - video files from Blu Ray Disks, that I copied onto a harddrive and convert them into 1920x1080 px MOV files - so that I can work with them later on. My interest is not to work with a 1to1 mkv-version of the whole film and sound and subtitles. I just want to convert the copied file to work with it in a video editing program. Some Apps seem not to offer 1920x1080 output file size. Is this possible without an complete Blu Ray Rip with Tools such as Pavtube etc? And can one only convert from an Original BD Disk?

I have recently downloaded a blu-ray video file. After I unzip it there are 2 folders BDMV and certificate and if I go into BDMV I will see many sub folders where one is called stream and inside have heaps m2ts files and one which is the largest and I assume thats the one I wanna watch. My question is does anyone know how to play m2ts files on mac or just be able to play blu ray files (not blu ray disc). I think this must be an exact rip of the video from its original blu-ray disc. I have tried VLC but it didn't work.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm just taking my first look at video editing have a Panasonic HD camcorder (HDC-SD10) and an imac running Snow Leopard.
The format from the Camcorder is .m2ts which play great on the PS3 but won't play on the iMac unless I use VLC.
Now I'd like to edit these video files in iMovie and know that I have to convert them to be able to do so.
Obviously I'd like to be able to convert these a) losslessly and b) if possible using freeware. Losslessly is the main requirement though.
Is it possible to do a lossless conversion and if so with what software.????
I transcode M2TS files into PRORES (HQ) using PAVTUBE. Final cut X takes a long time rendering them. Also in playback, the audio appears for a second and disappears to reappearing another second, for the entire clip. Is it normal ? Is there a better way to import m2ts files ?

Im currently doing some video converting using handbrake and I was just wondering if its ok to do this for a prolonged period of time? I have 7 movies to do, and am currently on the 3rd one. They take about 30 minutes each to complete and my cpu is currently at 84C. It fluctuates anywhere from 80C to 87C. Im just wondering if I should maybe give the cpu a break or if I can just do them all in one sitting?

I was wondering if anyone has made the effort to actually convert their entire library of videos into m4v format so that it's all apple hardware compatible or if you have duplicates of everything to preserve high quality 'originals' and lower quality iphone/ipod conversions etc.
Just a simple question of how you manage your video library I suppose. I also wonder if anyone even uses iTunes to manage their videos? It seems with the increasing number of apple devices pilfering our lives (or those of us that choose to let them pilfer our lives at least) could probably do with some simplification of formats.
I am looking for the best converter for changing some .swf files into mp4's and even to convert those swf files into mp3 files for listening. I tried a few and they wouldn't convert swf files to mp4 files.

I've tried Handbrake but I never get any of the settings right, and it seems as if Handbrake won't take a m2ts file and convert it to mp4 or m4v without problems.

There are many video converters on mac but I 've not found something to suit my needs.

Sometimes we do not want just a beautiful interface but also get the job done the way we want it.
So this is what I want:
- specify the exact video format I want my video to be converted. Not just a selection 'for ipod, for apple tv' and so on. So what? Am I supposed to make several conversions in order to see what each so labeled options mean in reality? I try to export to .mp4 and this should be a straightforward process.
- most important: limit output filesize. Specify the desirable filesize and converter should output a file that has this filesize. If anyone has seen convertxtodvd in windows, he should understand what I mean.
Can anyone tell me what software to use to get the *.mov format into a format that a standard dvd player can pickup.

I'm new here and I've done a little searching and can't find an exact answer to my situation:I want to convert my video from my iMac and my iBook to my 37" LCD HDTV (Vizio) which has a VGA input already on it.Now, I have a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter already for my iBook, however, the adapter will not work on the Mini-DVI port on my iMac.

I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".

2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.
I have many videos that I have downloaded, ripped, and captured overtime. Some of which I would like to be able to burn to a DVD for personal use or to give to family and friends. My problem comes when trying to burn a certain video file formats to a DVD, one especially that will playback on a standard DVD player. The types of files I am interested in converting to DVD-playable are: .m2ts, .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mkv. Again, I would like to convert these movies, then burn them to a DVD to easily watch them on my home theater system's DVD player. I then have to convert the files to apple pro res LT using mpeg streamclip before they are compatible with FCP7. What converter box will output the video to a format that is FCP7 friendly? Not sure if the canopus units are what will do the trick.

How to convert ISO files to DMG files. It is easy to convert DMG to ISO, but I can't fing ISO to DMG.
After converting my mod file to mp4 then uploading it to final cut pro the quality is really bad and jumpy.
I used MPEG streamclip... The quality is good after the mod - mp4 conversion it's only after i import it to final cut pro that the quality becomes really bad.
I don't have this problem when i am importing other files just the mod-mp4 converted ones.
