Applications :: Converting Any Video File To Format Playable On DVD Player
Mar 31, 2010I have many videos that I have downloaded, ripped, and captured overtime. Some of which I would like to be able to burn to a DVD for personal use or to give to family and friends. My problem comes when trying to burn a certain video file formats to a DVD, one especially that will playback on a standard DVD player. The types of files I am interested in converting to DVD-playable are: .m2ts, .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mkv. Again, I would like to convert these movies, then burn them to a DVD to easily watch them on my home theater system's DVD player. So I beg the question, "Is this all possible?", "What file formats are commonly used to play from DVDs on a DVD player?" and "Are there any freeware based applications to get this job done?"

I searched for a mac video converter on google and this forum. All the software that turned up aren't free and the trial versions place watermarks, limit the time and mute the audio, etc.

Jan 2, 2010I mainly am editing little clips that are 18 seconds - 2min each and putting around 25 of them together into a video with a bunch of special effects in them. I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. Adobe after effects vs Final cut pro 7 (I have adobe after effects right now, I don't have final cut yet)
2. movie converting:
my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".
1. Add videos to the list
2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.
Final Cut Studio :: Converting Analog Video From Camcorder And VHS Player
Dec 4, 2014I'm converting analog video from a camcorder and vhs player through the elgato converter to a macbook pro 2011. I then have to convert the files to apple pro res LT using mpeg streamclip before they are compatible with FCP7. What converter box will output the video to a format that is FCP7 friendly? Not sure if the canopus units are what will do the trick.

Sep 29, 2009I recorded bunch of video with iPhone 3GS and then edited a 12min quicktime movie from the clips. Problem is that the file size became HUGE, 1,24GB! How can it become so large file? Even one of the raw clips was 15min and 399MB. I just wanted to export the movie (with quicktime) to my Mac with the same quality as the iPhone recording quality. Here's the quicktime export settings details that I exported the movie:
-Compression type: H.264
-Frame Rate: Current
-Key Frames: All
-Compressor quality: Best
-Encoding: Best quality
-Data rate: Automatic

Mar 7, 2009I have a video that I am trying to import into iMovie '09. Its it a .MOV file. The file shows up in iPhoto, but when I go to iPhoto movies in iMovie, the file does not show up. What type of formats does iMovie let you import? Perhaps I can't import because its the wrong type of file? If so, is there a (free) way to convert the .MOV file into a file that can be imported into iMovie?

Feb 3, 2008I'm sure a few of us in this forum own a 360, have any of you managed to play any REAL HD content without purchasing the HD-DVD player or converting your .mkv's to .wmv's. I've noticed that if I download a 1080p trailer from apple.com/trailers in .mov format it works flawlessly, perfect image and audio. Is there a (quick) way to convert a .mkv to .mov and have it play perfectly with no hitch, on the 360. If trailers off apple.com can play there must be a workaround. When I try to convert it in Handbrake, the audio is just a constant drone, but video is fine. It will open in Quicktime, but I get an error when I try to convert the file through Quicktime.
