Is there any way of making a window stay in the back no matter what, as if it was stuck to the background? I want to do this with my adium since there is no use to have the contact window anywhere but the background, and it would have been kind of cool if it stuck to the background somehow xD.

I have an MBA 2011 with 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7. I am very shortsighted and have struggled with the poor contrast levels between tabs and the rest of the Safari UI. My solution has been to switch off tabs, use windows instead. and configure my right option key as an App Expose shortcut. This works very nicely, but the only fly in the ointment is that when I click on a link I wish to open in a new window, it defaults to always opening in a new ACTIVE window, when I'd usually prefer it to open in the background as per tabs.Â
I have checked and unchecked the option in the 'tabs' preference pane with no luck- do I need to re login to make this stick? CMD-Click works to a point, but it's not reliable, and I find it finicky, even though I've routed it to a touchpad gesture through BetterTouchTool. Is there any other way to force safari to open new windows in the background - perhaps by adding a new item to the context menu? I'd really like to resolve this as I'd love to make the switch from Chrome to Safari, especially with ML coming very soon. Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I start up my macbook it stayed on grey background with an apple logo and spinning thing. I press and hold the shift key once and it went to safe mode and did my diagnostic and found out that some file got corrupted so I thought maybe I'll just do another start up and everything will go back to normal. Then I restart it again but this time it wont past that grey back ground w/ apple logo w/ spinning thing again. I tried to do the safe mode again and it won't let me anymore. I went to apple site and i found a bunch of keyboard shortcuts, non of those help me. Any here have any idea what might happen to my MacBook. I'm in Kazahstan for work related trip and they don't use Mac here so there is no where I can buy another snowleaopard cd.

Then plug in your iPhone. iTunes 8.1.1 no longer expands and pops to the front of your screen! That's really cool! I noticed this in 8.1.1, but it could have been introduced in 8.1, I don't know.

All of the other apps set in a similar manner work just fine (i.e., they start and their windows say hidden)Â ... Why Hide does not mean "Hide" for this one app?

I'm having problems getting them working consistently:If I create one on 10.4 it works fine in 10.5, 10.5 and 10.6,If I create one for 10.5 it works fine in 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6,But if I create one in 10.6, the background picture shows in 10.6 but does not show in 10.4 or 10.5.
I think I recall having seen similar reports in one or two places but there's not much information on the web. Has anyone here come across this problem? Is it recognised? Fixable? Unfortunately I have no option of running 10.5 on my build machine...

I have a problem with my desktop background i tried clicking "change desktop background" but it wouldn't show the window where i can change the background, i tried the right click to a specific image and it doesn't say about using it as a desktop background. doesn't require removing nor deleting certain files i'm very wary about eleting certain files i own to where if i did delete or remove a file or program the computer would be messed up and i would have to find that Mac OS X 10.5 disk to restart it all over again and rebuild everything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just tried to mess around with some stuff in iTunes so i can sync my iPhone on both of my Macs. I did it all as instructed but when I opened the window was huge, and I can't make it any smaller. It's like a copy of my iTunes on my 24" iMac.
I tried deleting everything iTunes related and reinstalling but still the same.
Anyone got any solutions as to how to have a COMPLETELY clean version of itunes, or how to make the window smaller?

At a random time months ago (I cant pinpoint what triggered it) certain windows started to make themselves half-opaque when inactive. They seem to be "cocoa" applications (though I'm not sure the exact definition of that). The windows that are effected are: Skype v2.8.0 (chat windows only, not main 'buddy list') iMovie / iPhoto... I think there are more, I can't figure out which though. I'll update. The windows that are (surprisingly) NOT effected are: Windows Live Messenger v7.0.2

I have the program named "Afloat" and it seems to be inconsequential to the problem.
I bought a macbook pro off ebay it's a 15in model # A1211 and I just put a new hard drive in it. The hard drive is a seagate 500gb 7200rpm. The real question I have is that I cloned my hard drive but in disk utility I cant just move my hard drive down extend my space to fill in the empty space for my mac partition. Also my hard drive is dual boot via bootcamp with windows 7.

I cant figure out how to change the background color of it in candybar. I'm sick of the standard grey mac color.When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out.
