MacBook Pro :: Office 2011 For Mac To Import PST Files From Outlook (from PC)?
Apr 3, 2012
I am using a trial version of Office 2011 for Mac! When I try to import the outlook pst files from my pc and follow the correct procedure it doesn´t work. Outlook only says that it has encountered an unknown problem and is shutting down.I talked with Microsoft support but they don´t support their trial versions only premium. That I think is funny because if the trial version is not working how can you trust them that the premium version is working.Â
I am expecting delivery of my first Mac on Wednesday. I have been using Outlook 2003 for years and wish to move my files to the iMac. I already have the Office 2008 software. Can I simply import the .pst files into Entourage?
I'm not changing back to a Windows user, it's just that I *need* to get my contacts onto Outlook 2007 as well. My contacts in Entourage are organized nicely, with each contact's name and e-mail address. Really simple information. I then go to "Export", and choose to export the contacts to a "tab-delimited text" file (it's my only choice). Basically, I get this .txt file. I then go to my Outlook 2007, and have tried importing both "Comma Separated Values" and "Tab Separated Values" with my .txt file. Unfortunately, while each contact's name and e-mail DO get imported, the format is completely messed up. I get this "map field" window when I choose to import by Tab Separated Values, but I've tried all different combinations, and every time, the names and e-mails simply jumble up altogether. Has anyone tried importing Entourage contacts into Outlook 2007? And if so, can you please give me some instructions on how to do so?
I have a user who just switched from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011. Getting a strange issue when sending to users on Outlook 2010 PC.
When sending a message, users on Outlook 2011 and people viewing the message via web mail can see the message fine. It reports that it's a digitally signed message (just one sentence), and the certificates look fine. Via the web, the message appears fine. It says: "This message has a digital signature. The digital signature could not be validated because the S/MIME control is not available." However, it comes up fine.
However, users on Outlook for PC (my version is 2010), cannot read it. I first get a preview pane error "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents." And when I double-click on the message, I get a pop up window "Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the underlying security system."
Anyone can provide clues why other Outlook MAC users and via the web the message can be read, but just not PC Outlook users for now?
I will be switching from Outlook 2007 to Office for Mac Outlook 2011 for my business email/calendar/contacts. I am pleased with Outlook 2007, but despise my PC otherwise. I will be using Microsoft Exchange as my email server. My concerns: Calendar Syncing, Accessing Archived PST files, Transitioning current mail folders.
I have a couple questions regarding this switch:
- Will Office for Mac Outlook 2011 accommodate by business needs and offer a comparable application as Office 2007 (PC version)?
- What roadblocks or issues should I be aware of when making this switch?
I have temp. a desktop PC and I would like to import my MAC outlook file (.olm) into my office windows 2010 computer. Is there a way to import my olm file into my windows office 2010?
I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â
I forgot my administrator's password for my home computer. I purchased office 2008 for mac with a free upgrade to office 2011. I upgraded it to 2011 when it came out (late 2010/early 2011). I have since made a new password and forgotten what it is. The mac tells me to reinstall my microsoft office but when I do, with the office 2008 disc, it tells me I have MORE RECENT SOFTWARE and to use that. I did it on line and cannot find it again.Â
how can i recover folders that were "on my computer" . I lost them when my macbook pro shut down while using outlook 2011. i have back ups in time machine but have no idea on where or how to recover
Info: Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), outlook for mac 2011
I just purchased a Macbook Air and MS Office 2011 for Mac. I setup the computer while I was at work (using a wireless network) and was able to get all my emails in perfect order. Â
However, once I got home (on my home wireless network) when I hit Send/Receive, I get the "Authentication Failed Error 17900" message. Â
I must add that I have 5 different accounts setup, 4 are my personal domains and one is Gmail. Gmail works fine on outlook both from my office and home.Â
I tried changing many settings in Outlook, but nothing seems to work. I'm not really good with these things, but my logic tells me that if everything works in the office and not at home, it must have something to do with my router at home! Could this be the case? My office is an hour away and I hate to go there just to check or send emails.Â
I followed the automatic steps for setting up my Outlook 2011 for mac with my gmail account. It started downloading every single email I've had since 2006. 35,000 emails are now loaded on my new mac--not necessary at all. And I don't want the extra (gmail) inbox in Outlook. Is there a way to just have the "on my computer" folders and not the added gmail folders? The whole point of saving email on gmail is so I don't have to keep them all on my computer.

How do you like it? I am still on Entourage 2004. I do not use exchange so not sure if it would be worth it. At the job we use Windows and Outlook anyways so dont know if it would be worth it to buy Outlook 2011. Is Outlook 2011 worth the price or should I stay with Office 2004? I use Mail a bit, but it lacks a number of features found in Entourage so I switch back and forth between the two mail clients.
I hope I have the right board. Has anyone used Outlook 2011? If so what do you think? I am am still using 2004. Its got allot more features than Mail (although Mail is much faster). I would like to upgrade but want to hear what others say first. I also wonder if it would be worth it, since I am no longer a student and all use of MS Office at the job is done there on a Windows PC. I do not take my work home.
We use Exchange 2007 in our office. My mail, notes, and tasks all work fine in my Outlook 2011 for MAC. The calendar is blank. I have removed and added the account twice. It's been this way for more than a week. My calendar is fine when I go through outlook web access. It is also working on my iphone. Others in the office using the same Lion version have no problems. I added my account to another MAC with 10.6.2 and everything, including calendar, works fine.
I've got a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.3), iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I use Office/Outlook for Mac 2011. The email is fine, but I can't figure out how to get contacts and calendar to sync with iPhone & iPad using iCloud. Is there a way to use iCloud to sync contacts and calendars across all devices?

This question might be a bit premature, however, given the 11.6 resolution, and Office 2011 system requirements (res req. is: 1280 x 800), do you think Office 2011 will install and run on the 11.6 Air?
I recently bought the microsoft office for my Macbook pro, but I just got a new MBA and did the migration assistant thingy. Now the microsoft office on the MBA does not work. There seems to be no uninstall option for the Office 2011.
You know all those templates and everything right? They all freeze for me. Word, PowerPoint & Excel. The programs work fine though, but I use the "recently used files" or whatever it's called and also the templates. The templates in PowerPoint are really awesome.
I have a dead PC and have since pulled the hard drive (which works fine). Any ideas how to get the old Outlook messages off the drive and import them into Entourage on my Mac?
I've read around the forums a bit and found some discussion on connectivity for sending / receiving emails via Outlook. Is it true that POP3 support is not going to happen with Outloook for Mac 2011? I have been testing the software and am able to recieve emails from my Godaddy POP3 but can not send anything out.
Is there an email/calendar/notes client out there that is close to Outlooks functionality? I am a nub as this is my first Mac and would really like to know what else is out there that is comparable and combines the features mentioned earlier. So far I love the OS and the speed...My custom built PC has shut down for the last time.
I have just purchased a Mac Pro and will be using MS Office with Outlook. My G4 MDD desktop is running Entourage 10.1.6. Is there a way to transfer the data [emails and addresses] from Entourage to Outlook?
