Aug 23, 2014I have the OLD pages software & I copied a page onto my desktop & I can't trash it. how to trash it. I've restarted my comp a few times but it's still there!

MacBook Pro :: Pages Gets Stuck Loading - Progress Bar Never Quits
Sep 1, 2014I've been using pages in my macbook pro for more than a year without any problem but lately whenever I open pages it gets stucked loading, when I'm opening it the progress bar that appears at the beginning never disappears. I've already tried to force quiting pages to open it again but when I open pages again the problem persists. I still can write and modify the files that were previously opened but I can't open new files nor close the ones that are already opened.
This is the progress bar that never quits. I have mountain Lion and pages 09 version. My mac is a macbook pro Mid 2012.

Jan 21, 2009My Windows XP virtual machine is 'stuck' in suspend. All items in the 'Virtual Machine' menu are greyed out except 'Suspend' which is ticked. The VM window itself is just black, and the VM list has a spinny gear next to the virtual machine. It's been like this for days.
I've used Time Machine to restore to a previous known good VM file, but that didn't work. So I'm wondering if it's a cache file or some such.
I desperately need access to this for my work. No point asking Parallels support, they don't speak English (I discovered after paying).
OS X :: Icon Stuck On Desktop - Will Not Move Or Delete
Nov 7, 2009I just got a macbook pro. I installed some apps. I opened the applications folder from the dock and I attempted to drag the icon to the dock to create a shortcut there. My finger came off the track pad and the icon snapped over to the far upper left corner of the desktop. It's in the corner under the apple symbol on the menu bar. It's a transparent white square with a question mark in it. If I clicked on it it would open the app it's linked to. But I can't move it or delete it. If I right click a small window comes up showing the path to the app momentarily. I tried uninstalling the app and rebooting no luck. Looking in the desktop folder shows nothing. It looks stupid and it blocks the x-out of any app that is open full size.

I don't even know how it happened, but the Applications folder is stuck on my desktop.If I try to move it it begins making a copy and the folder remains on desktop. If delete it, it actually deletes the contents of the folder.

OS X :: Shutdown / Restart System - Stuck On Showing Desktop
Mar 8, 2008I'm a rather new Mac user (it's been about 6 months since I bought my new aluminum iMac). Lately, I've been experiencing difficulties in shutting down my system, or even restarting it. I should probably note that I'm using 10.5.2 Sometimes, when I try to perform a system shutdown/restart, the OS gets to a point where only my desktop is shown but nothing happens (occasionally the beach ball keeps rolling, but not always).
At that point, (as far as I know) there's nothing I can do to restart/shutdown the system, besides pressing the "power" button for several seconds until the power goes down. When similar things happened on my old XP machine, I would just use CTRL ALT DEL and force quit all applications - until shutdown succeeds. There was never a scenario where I needed to cut the power in order to get the system to shut down. On OS X when this situation occurs, the CMD ALT ESC combo doesn't seem to work.

Oct 30, 2009I am on OX 10.4.1.1 I think or maybe just 10.4.1 I know that some corrupted files got on my desktop and its preventing me from accessing my desktop but I can still get applications to run, I tried removing the files using Terminal but when I do so it says Access Denied. This is my computer and there are no other users on this. I believe I backed up all my files to an External a few days before, how to get finder to load properly so I can delete the corrupted files or know another way to get the files to the trash since I cannot see them.

Feb 9, 2010I was just dragging some items around the desktop into some folders in the Finder and I guess something got messed up. When I was finished moving things around, a small square icon appeared in the left hand corner of the screen that cannot be dragged to another location or deleted. Whenever I click, it a small screen pops up momentarily, saying that it's going to open a file (I deleted the file) and nothing happens. After I deleted the file, the small square box just contains a picture of a question mark. I'm trying to get rid of it, but I don't know how to.

My shift key also appears to be stuck so holding the Option key when booting up to choose a start up disk isn't an option (it doesn't work). I do not currently have access to an external keyboard. I do have the startup disk. I'm wondering if I can use the startup disk to reset the systems startup disk? Are there other options?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Garage Band File "stuck" On Desktop
Jun 7, 2012I went to go make a recording of my friends and I talking and joking around using Garage Band. It worked well to record, and I managed to make it to an mp3 file and import it to iTunes. However, now I have "My Song.band" on my desktop. I cannot "Get Info" for it to look at the permissions. I have tried dragging it into Terminal to get rid of it, and it won't drag into the program. I cannot delete it because I get the error message "The item 'My Song.band' can't be moved to the Trash because it can't be deleted." I also cannot open the file. It is just sitting there.

Sep 17, 2008When copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.

Mar 31, 2008i have a early 2008 octo mac pro, with it im using a philips 220ws, the problem i'm having is that scrolling a page be it safari, firefox or a pages doc. it seems to jutter along and doesnt move as smooth as my mac book,and when typing into either msn messenger, pages or even text edit letters seem to lag behind what im typing, ok it may only be for a secon and about 2 letters behind burt it gets annoying worse when back spacing. does anyone else have the problem or possible fix? im not using anything more than than the word processor, safari and msn at a time

Mar 24, 2010I need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?

May 12, 2010I'm trying to create pages that have all black backgrounds. I've been doing this by using the Shapes tool, choosing a rectangle, filling in the entire white space for the page, which is 8x11, and then filling in with black.
The problem is that when I do this, Pages seems to think that I want this page and the following page to be connected, in some way. When I look at the two pages in the thumnail view, the yellow outline is around both pages, rather than each individually.
Anybody know how to keep this from happening. Or the right way to create full black backgrounds for pages in Pages?

Jun 5, 2009I can't work out how to combine files in Pages, so please advise! If I go to Insert->Choose it looks like I can add other files, but not pages files. I have about 10 pages documents that need to be merged into one single document. I know I could copy and paste but I am concerned about a number of formatting issues. Some documents have fairly complicated section breaks or are fairly image-heavy, for example. One document seems to choke everything up when I copy from it (the one with lots of images etc - it's around 10MB large).
