MacBook :: Keep Getting A Shared Computer 'hp1cc1de7ec6ef'
Apr 12, 2012
my finder I keep getting a shared computer 'hp1cc1de7ec6ef' where has this come from? Can i trace it? When i click on it - it only gives me 'Memory Card' as information....
Is there a way to NOT see a computer in the Shared sidepane under "All". Long story short, we used to live together, now we don't. But I still see her computer on my "network." A picture is worth a thousand words. Any way to not see this when that computer is online?
I am trying to find out how to change the way finder presents itself while it is looking at a shared computer, because it appears to be doing this incorrectly, or is messed up some how. If you look at the screen shot of the highlighted drives of this shared computer, you will notice there are multiple instances of drive J and I would like to remove the repeated link. Also some of the drives have names associated with them, while others do not. I cannot figure out why some take the name given to the drive under windows in the macs finder window and why some do not? To throw another odd question in, drive G is not labeled movies anywhere, but rather is a drive labeled TV Shows under windows. Rebooting does nothing, as this has been there for months, even after a restore.
I have 3 macs and a PS3/Xbox 360 all running on a protected wireless network at my house...our iPhones also use the network when necessary.
Right now I am on the MacBook Pro, my iMac is on in another room, and all other devices are off. Usually under shared from this computer I just see my iMac in finder because I allow sharing between the 2 computers... but I noticed something odd that I've never seen before. Something else is showing up under "Shared". It looks like another computer and says "mac001b639f####" I didnt fill in the last 4 characters just in case this ends up being some sort of personal info that I shouldnt be sharing.
My new MacBook pro came in the mail yesterday, so today I decided to import music from my parents MacBook to mine, I turned on home, both computers are authorized, we are both using the same account, both firewalls are off, but I can't connect to the MacBook. I have the search for shared libraries on and theirs is too we're on the same network and all that, but their library won't appear! Anyone know what to do? I have read everything on apple and they haven't helped a little.
I have my iTunes library stored on a NAS, UNRAID, and I currently do not have my files copied into the iTunes library. They reside on the UNRAID in a movies and movies folder, so the iTunes library itself is fairly small.
However, this is what I would like to do. Since I have several AppleTV and several other Macs running. I'd like to keep one Mac on 24/7 and have iTunes open all the time pointed to my NAS iTunes.
My wife and I have both just got iPhones. I have created a user account for her on my intel iMac and want to use the iphones on the one computer.
I need to share the iTunes library (and iphoto eventually) so I dont have to double-up everything.
I have tried dragging the Itunes Music into the shared folder... and creating aliases as described in various places on the web and in magazines, but this simply does not work. No tracks appear in my wife's itunes. There is not even 'shared library' icon on the left hand side.
A couple of months ago I was at the head office and connected to the in house Wifi. When I did, a bunch of shared drives or folders showed in my finder under "Shared". I figured no biggie, when I got away from the head office they'd go away. But they didn't. And I can't figure out how to get rid of them.See attached photo.
I have my printer connected to a PC with Windows 7. I have 3 PC's that can print to it over my wireless network. But for some reason I can't get the MBP to print. I have tried many methods and they have all failed.
how can I get my shared title back under finder on the right side. I deleted it by accident. It is supposed to be right under Devices and Above Places. I also delted my Today by accident under the Search For category. You can see in the first picture its my Finder and the 2nd is my sisters.
My MacBook pro (snow leopard) has had a major issue and the screen boots up with big colour blocks on it. Rendering it useless.
I've plugged another MacBook in via FireWire and it can see my shared folders. So it looks like its booting up and hard drive may be okay.Â
However I have vital files in my desktop and desktop is not shared, so i don't have permission.
Us there anyway to get to these files sobi can back them up before I hand the laptop over to Apple to be fixed. Basically I have some really important documents I badly need. It's my fault for not backing up
I have an iMac that is set to share its CD drive with my MacBook Air. My MacBook Air sees the CD in the iMac's drive and can open it. However, I can't ever get a CD to play/run. For example, right now, I have a instructional video inserted into the iMac. I clicked Yes on the iMac to share the CD in its drive. On my MacBook Air I can see all the files on the instructional video, but I can't get it to play. The instructional video opens on the iMac. How do I get it to open on the MacBook Air?

I made a reminder on my iPad mini with the reminders app, and it is shared on iCloud. How do I sync it to my macbook pro so whenever I change something on my iPad, it will be changed on my mac??Â
My former laptop has met with a terrible, horrific demise and unfortunately is no longer even operable. It contained several thousand songs, most of which I burned down from my old CD collection over the years. The rest I had purchased. I am now sharing a MB Pro with my S/O and want to transfer what is on my phone to his library. Â
I was successful in transferring the purchased items to his iTunes, but not the other songs. I also want to transfer a ringtone I have created in his personal library to my phone, but can't determine how to do that. Nothing I do seems to work and I've been researching the inter webs for days...Â
My other question is this: if I only check "sync tones" when conducting a sync and leave all of the other sync options unchecked, will it erase all of the songs on my phone, or just my current ringtones? I don't care about the old ringtones, they are easy enough to recreate, but obviously I would be devastated to lose what little I have left of my personal music collection!Â

So if I have 10.6 installed and want to install Windows on a Mac, how can I create a 3rd (shared) FAT32 partition without reformatting the hard drive? I know how to without reformatting, but is there any way to just split my current partition into 2? I know how to do this on Windows, that is by shrinking the partition, but is there any similar function on a Mac so I don't lost existing files?
Is it possible to have my MacBook Pro use Time Machine to backup to shared storage on the Mac Pro? Right now my Mac Pro has close to 6TB of storage and it would be nice to be able to use part of the storage as a fake Time Capsule.
I have a PC on my network that has a secondary internal hard drive and an external USB 2.0 hard drive that are both shared on the network. From my MacBook Pro with Lion, I have no problem accessing the C and second internal drives, but cannot access the USB external drive from the Mac. I have no problem accessing the external drive from my 2 other PC's on the network. The external drive has the exact same sharing settings as every other internal drive on my network.
All PC's are running Windows 7 and this is a home network. I don't have any servers or anything running. I just set up basic file sharing so that I can access any drive of any PC from any other computer on my network. The Mac just says "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "T" can't be found." when trying to access the external. Lastly, the Mac is on wifi, not ethernet.
I see my NAS as shared in Finder, but when I connect to it it asks for user and password. The problem is that when I login with user i get no error, but it never connect as specified user, allways as guest. It's impossible for me to correct with correct user. Same thing when i connect directly to the IP with Command+K.
I'm having trouble printing to a printer shared by my Mac Pro running 10.6.8 from my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 Printer sharing is turned on on my Mac pro, they are connected to the same network, the MacBook via Airport and the Mac Pro via ethernet. I can quite happily swap files between them. When I try to add a printer on the MacBook the Canon iP4300 simply doesn't show up under the list of available printers as I think it should do.
my daughters SLEEPING MBP has appeared on my MBP as a shared device. How is this possible if it's sleeping? Perhaps there's a good explanation for this, but I'm concerned about it. She connects via wireless to our home D-link wireless router. Wasn't sure where to ask question on boards..

I have a new MBP (running Lion) and an older MacBook (running Leopard). I'd like both to run Time Machine to a shared external hard drive which I think I've worked out. My question is whether or not TM will store duplicate versions of the same files (particularly photos, videos, etc.) on the external hard drive, thus using up the EHD capacity more quickly, or will one file be saved and just recognized as being on both computers by TM.
why do videos from a shared photo stream not appear in iPhoto? Within iMovie, it appears as though videos can be imported from the iPhoto library. However, within iPhoto there are no videos that appear within the Library. Is it possible to import photos into iPhoto from a shared photo stream? if not, how can videos be imported into iPhoto?
I'm running Mavericks on my late 2013 MacBook Pro. When I try to access a shared computer on my network, the Finder window closes as soon as I click on the computer I want to access. File sharing is turned on on the target computers, both iMacs, one is running Mavericks and the other is running Mountain Lion. The iMacs can access the MacBook Pro and each other without a problem. Firewall is not on on the iMac. Is there a setting I am missing
