View 6 RepliesJust got back from a vacation and have some AVIs that I shot on my digital camera. I want to edit these but some of the were shot vertically instead of horizontally. Does anyone know what program I can use to rotate these? Can't find a feature to do so in iMovie - using a 3rd party program is probably the way to go.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the brief reviews I've seen, the Macbook Air is credited with great viewing angles. I just bought the 11" base model. While the horizontal viewing angles are great, the vertical ones are modest. It's definitely decent if you look at the screen straight on or from above, but it fades quickly and inverts when you look at it from below level even to a modest degree. I have the 2008 unibody aluminum Macbook; the one that was quickly renamed the Macbook Pro and provided with a better screen and an SD slot. To me, the viewing angles are definitely improved but I don't have a Macbook Pro to compare it with, or the previous generation Air.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 2.2GHz MacBook (3,1) has had an issue for some time now. At first the backlight would flicker as you moved the display from closed to open. The backlight stayed lit through most of the travel. It's gotten progressively worse lately where it will only stay lit at certain angles, and is otherwise black (you can still see the display in sunlight though). Right now it'll only stay lit if I open it very slowly and stop once it lights up.
As I don't have a ton on money to spend, I don't want to just throw parts at it. What could be the issue? Since when it lights up it lights up full brightness and stays lit, I don't think it's an inverter issue. Could it be the inverter board cable?
I Got a 13 inch MBP and gave my 13 inch aluminum MB to my dad. However i noticed something with the new MBP i got. A)After installing istat pro on both machines only the older MB shows as having Heatsink A and B, the new MBP shows as only having Heat sink B, how come? The aluminum MB on boot up has all the temps (CPU, Heat sinks, HD and so on) going around 20-30 degrees FH, yet the MBP is coming up with 90-130 degrees FH. After 1 hour use the MB has all reading between 28-48 yet the MBP has all readings between 90-140 degrees FH. Both kept in the same room, doing the exact same thing (running safari, same site). I just dont want the nightmare i had with the MBA where i had to return it 3 times because it would over heat and crawl when doing anything slightly intensive. Mine are:
HD MACINSTOSH 83
CPU 131
ENCLOSURE BASE 90
ENCLOSURE BASE 2 90
ENCLOSURE BASE 3 89
ENCLOSURE BASE 4 91
HEATSINK B 113
NORTHBRIDGE 108
I have a late 2008 uMBP 15 inch and in safari, regardless of using the integrated graphics card or the higher end card, when I press apple t for a new tab the computer hangs for at least 10 seconds then once it finally loads the top sites page it appears all scrambles for a second, then it works normally.
My second problem is that my hinge is very loose. I can't hold the laptop at 45 degree angle without the screen falling down and closing. Will apple fix this?
My mom's iBook G3 has recently started doing this thing where its screen goes dark if you bend it back far enough. Right now the furthest I can open it is so it's at a bit over a 90 degree angle, or else it'll go dark. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having trouble calibrating my display on my 2010 Macbook Pro with Spyder3Pro properly. The calibrated profile is much warmer unless looked perfectly straight on, which is impossible, and when the screen is tilted down it becomes a deep yellow. I've tried different ambient lighting sources and screen brightness however none of the profiles look good. Has anyone been able to properly calibrate their 2010 Macbook Pro's screen with a Spyder3Pro?

It either interprets "diagonal" scrolling as horizontal or vertical, or left and right. There is no horizontal and vertical at the same time. I don't recall my previous MM being able to scroll diagonally, either. I'm not sure what Apple means by "360 degree scolling."
View 5 Replies View RelatedAs the header says, the fan in my Mac Pro is now operating at a constant 2700 rpms and, per iStat, believes that Core 4 is at 260 degrees. This is from COLD startup as in overnight. All other cores are operating in the low to mid 70s. So, obviously it's impossible for core 4 to be 260 degrees on startup and highly unlikely it would be that hot, ever. I've done the SMC RST thing both ways (button pushing and unplugging).

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend shot a short movie with my digital camera and she had it turned sideways, so you've got to turn your head to view it right. I need to rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise. I've got quicktime pro 6.whatever (the newest). It's an mpeg if that matters.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen I upload pictures, the thumbnails won't show the picture, just the dotted line outline for all thumbnails.
Also, when I rotate a picture, it won't hold the rotation. After I have rotated it, I go over to iMovie to put the picture in it's spot, and it generates back to it's original direction before I rotated it.
How do you rotate images on Preview?

Can I rotate an image a few degrees, rather than 90? Preview does only 90 degree increments and I don't have a photo-editing program. I have MS Office for Mac, and Word has a feature called Free Rotate on the Drawing Toolbar, but it's not supported.

I have recently imported some photos from my camera, some in portrait some in landscape. When I preview the photos, the portraits automatically rotate in order to be on the upside. But when I use it as wallpaper, it doesn't rotate. Is there anyway to make all the portraits rotate for wallpaper?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure exactly what the appropriate terminology is here, but what I'm looking for is an app (not necessarily FCPro) that allows dynamically rotating or "straightening" a video taken with a head POV video camera (i.e. GoPro, et. al.)
Situation, you are sitting with a head camera strapped to your head (looking appropriately geeky or stupid, whichever), and recording video. As you do so, your head looks left, right, and due to the environment, you may tilt your head 20-45 degrees to get the view you want to see (NOTE - what I/me/myself want to view with my eyes - camera is "along for the ride" so to speak). Then you look out "level" again, etc. Now look to the other side, rotating your head again, etc. (wash, rinse, repeat).
I'm wanting to take "head tilt" out and keep the video "level", based on some reference/key frames. Is there a specific app that can do this without destroying too much quality? Does FCPro even accomplish this? This is NOT a case of stabilization, I need to dynamically rotate the video to make the video appear level/straight, even though the camera was tilted, etc.

For some peculiar reason, my desktop pictures do NOT change / rotate on my secondary display.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I have dual displays. My primary display (the MBP screen) DOES change / rotate picture every minute, but I want my secondary display to do the same.
It seems that restarting does fix it, but only temporarily. I think it might have to do with plugging/unplugging the secondary display and sometimes if it's working, I disconnect and reconnect the monitor and then the pictures stop rotating.
All my desktop picture settings are correct in System Preferences. I tried unchecking then rechecking the "Change picture:" checkmark, but that doesn't fix anything.
I also tried clicking on different folders in the left column of the Pref Pane, then clicking back on my chosen desktop pictures folder.
Before I upgraded to Lion I was able to edit my .pdf files with Preview. I just needed to rotate and crop scanned book pages. Now I can't do that. What can I use or do instead.

Moreover, can I zoom the word in whilst spinning?
I have a Mac Mini bought in 2005. It has Tiger OS. When I turn it on a white screen appears with the Mac symbol and a wheel continues to rotate and nothing happens.
Ive read some similar problems saying to select keys like Apple + Alt + P + R but Im using a Non-Mac Keyboard so I dont have the (Apple) key.
I just scanned some negatives (about a 3 hour endeavor) and when I rotated some of the images in TIFF format in Preview, there is a pause as it loads in the information, and then the photo turns black. I tried running it in Photoshop and the images are still black. Is it because the file size is too large so preview decides to throw away all of the information? Are there any ways to get these photos back?

I am doing a school project where I need videos. How do you rip videos off Youtube and have them in the format for imovie (free). Also does anyone know how to rip videos off the c-span website?
I've recently upgraded to Lion and have found that Quicktime movies and embedded Flash movies won't work. With the embedded flash all I get is a black box, and with quicktime movies, such as the ones on the Apple website, I get nothing - the irony of not being able to watch movies on the Apple site with my Apple iMac gives me a little chuckle. Anyways ....... I've been reading thread after thread and trying lots of different things but nothing works. I've got this feeling inside that says it's something simple but just can't seem to find it.
