MacBook :: Cannot Connect To LG Smart TV - No Signal
Sep 4, 2014
I cannot connect my MacBook (13-inch Late 2007) to LG Smart TV (47LB730V) via "mini-DVI to HDMI" cable.
TV says that something is connected to HDMI input and then show "No Signal" message.
But when I connect my Mac with the same cable and settings to another display (to DVI or HDMI input) everything works fine.
I think I should place something to "systemlibrariesdisplaysoverrides" folder, but do not know what Â

I'm a teacher and really want to use the SMART Board in my classroom. I was able to do so with my old computer, but the MacBook Pro has no port for a 15-pin connector, which is what I need to hook up the SMART Board. I know there are various adapters available, but which do I need?

JUST bought my very first apple product: mac book pro 13.3 inch / 2.5 / 2x2GB / 500/SD before my purchase, I've been working with an old toshiba PC and connecting just fine to a neighbors signal.so i know i should not be "piggybackriding" someone else's connection, but i am just really surprised that my old PC has no problem joining an unsecured network, but my new apple CANNOT this is the message it gives me when I try to join:yellow exclamation sign.could not join "(the network i usually use for internet." A CONNECTION TIMEOUT HAS OCCURRED".i called support and they both told me that since i have no access to the modem, there's nothing they can do.they also said that it may be that there is an interfering signal not allowing the computer to connect like a wireless phone or reg. phone or blueray player or some kind of other interfering signal? how could it be the router's problem if my PC picks up the signal?i could take the computer to the store, but from what i've been reading, they won't help much or they'll tell me to subscribe to and pay for my own internet connection

My Macbook pro (which is 18 months old) will not connect to my home hub since installing a smart TV. It worked perfectly for over a year. All other Apple devices in the house are fine. The router is about 2 metres away. When I go further away into another room it is fine. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

I purchased a smart ups 1000 to protect my mac pro from power cuts and I currently have it on charge the only thing is I am not sure how to connect my mac pro to it (as it is my first time setting one up) I get that I have to plug the ups into the mains but then how do I connect the mac pro to the ups do I simply plug the 3 pin plug (I live in the UK) into the ups so the connections go cable plugged into mains>other end plugged into ups>mains end of mac pro power cable plugged into ups.other end of mac pro mains cable plugged into mac pro.
If this is correct the reason I have not realised it is because the holes on the back of the ups look a bit to close together for UK plug holes.

I just got a Mac Mini no too long ago and while moving to my new apartment, my wireless router had a tragic accident and is no longer with me. So I thought "hey, I will just use my Mac Mini to broadcast a wifi signal so my other devices can connect to it." So I spent the morning setting up the internet sharing in the Mac Mini system preferences. Got my Dell Studio 1555 to connect with no issues. But my roommates acer notebook won't pick up the wifi signal at all. Checked it on both of our smart phones (both are android models), my nook, and even my ipod touch. It is only showing up on the dell for some reason. I was wondering if anyone else has encoutered this issue before Mac mini is currently set up with 128bit wep with a 13 character password.

I've spent the past few hours attempting to connect my new Windows 8.1 laptop to my iMac's Airport signal without any success. Â I was able to do this very thing using Windows 7 on an old laptop. From what I've been reading, it seems that the ability to connect to networks secured with "WEP-Shared" type security has been removed in Windows 8 because of the fact that it was outdated and insecure. It's great that Microsoft is trying to force individuals to be secure, but unfortunately the iMac's airport utility does not offer any alternatives.

Does the iPad signal the end of the MBA?
I kind of like the new toy, but I honestly love my MBA. I hope Apple will continue to improve the Air, but I think the iPad will be a greater money maker for Apple so ... ?

I had a monitor set up and working on my MacBook, but the monitor was crap. I disconnected it, and then re-connected it a couple of days later while I waited for my new one to arrive and found that my computer was no longer seeing my monitor. Since it was going away, I wasn't concerned and just figured I'd wait until I got the new one.
NEW MONITOR AND COMPUTER SPECS:
Dell 2209WA - Ultrasharp
MacBook approx 2.5yrs old
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Connecting the two with a mini-DVI to DVI cable (tried a mini-DVA to VGA and that didn't work either - both the computer and the monitor didn't see each other)
PROBLEM DETAILS:
My computer thinks it is mirroring and/or spanning. In the display settings I can see both my laptop monitor and the new one and can even mess with the arrangement and turn on and off the mirroring.
My monitor however says ""there is no signal coming from your computer." and it tells me to touch keys or the mouse to wake up the mac.
I have the DVI input selected and I have tried toggling through the different input modes and still nothing.
ATTEMPTS AT FIXING:
I have restarted
Reset the PRAM at start up
unplugged and re-plugged in everything
put computer to sleep, woken back up
restarted with the monitor connected and WITHOUT it connected....
NOTHING is working.
I don't know what the problem can be and what I can do to fix it.... Any thoughts or fixes?

My Macbook Pro won't hold a wireless signal. I don't have another wireless signal to test, but have tested other devises which connect fine.
'07 model MBP core duo running OS4.11 + original Airport (hey it still works). The MBP will only stay connected now if my base station within 10' or so. It might connect 30' away, but looses the signal after loading a few pages online. It seems like its getting worse -- maybe not, but seems like it is. I can connect just find with my other MBP, iPod (streaming audio across the house, etc) and PS3.

I watched it for 5 mins and the network didn't even showbup on the list..my eve and touch both find it fine though...(eve two bars touch 3-4) suggestions? Is it just mine that has bad reception? the evo is known for bad signal strength, And even it can pick it up.

OK. I feel so stupid right now. I'm pretty sure this has been answered 100 times already in here.
I connected the cable to my WS external LCD and I can't get it to fill up the whole screen. I normally set my screen to 1080X1050 under Vista. When I set that under my Macbook I only get small screen in the middle of my monitor.
Second question. I press F7 to get the picture to display on my monitor. When I close the macbook I lost the signal. Do I have to wait until the Macbook go into sleep mode before I can close it?

I just encountered this issue about 2 days ago on my 2009 2.66 GHz MacBook Pro 15. When I am connected to a wireless network my internet goes REALLY slow (30 Mbps wired vs 2 Mbps wi-fi), I cant even watch a youtube video anymore without waiting 5 minutes. My wi-fi signal is full and I am maybe about 15 ft away from my router. I have tried reinstalling OSX and restoring my router but nothing has helped. I also have a Macbook Air running on the same network and connected to the same Wi-Fi and my speed is normal (around 30 Mbps) so I know its not an issue with my router. All my computers are running the latest snow leopard and needless to say, I have zero programs or anything else running on the macbook pro because its on a fresh install of OSX. And just to be clear all these issues occur only when I am in Wi-Fi on the 15 inch, wired works normal on the 15 inch.

I've been running a Benq G2400W on my MacBook Pro since December 2008 with no problems. I recently has my logic board replaced due to a power issue. I got the computer back a few weeks ago. For some odd reason, my monitor refuses to accept the signal from my MacBook Pro over DVI. I can use the DVI to Analog converter and it works just fine.
I did find a thread over at Apple Support Discussions outlining the exact issue I am having. The solution is to remove a pin from the DVI cable. I shouldn't have to destroy a cable to get this to work again. I might order a new cable/adapter from monoprice.com and destroy it if that is my only option though.
I just can't figure out what changed except for the logic board swap...but I don't remember if it has worked over DVI since I got it back.
I deleted the windowserver plist for my user and the system one with no change in behavior. Are there any other settings I could try resetting?
I've unplugged the Benq and reset the monitor via the OSD to default settings.
I did read over at anandtech that it could be HDCP related...but I'm not trying to watch a video.
I plugged the laptop into a Dell 1905 at work via DVI and it worked perfectly fine.

So, recently I just moved into another house and, unfortunately, where I'm at, I'm not able to get internet service through my old provider (Verizon) and they were kind of my only option at this point. However, during this time, my laptop has been able to connect to a free, available, public wireless network near where I'm at. When I'm in a certain area of my house, it works great, but when I'm on the other side, in my office, I get next to nothing. Given that I need to do a lot of work out of my office, is there any sort of thing I can buy that will extend the signal to that part of house?

My Wi-Fi drops out all the time and I have to reset the WiFi to reconnect. When I look in the signal bar is says it is still connected, this will happen about once every 2 to 3 minutes. I have contacted the apple help desk and was told it must be my modem. I have two phones, an ipad, 2 windows laptops and my macbook pro is the only one that has problems with the WiFi. have also taken it to a repair agent and was told it was my modem.

I'm using a set of Creative T12 Wireless Bluetooth Speakers which have, until recently, been fantastic. About a month ago i have noticed a marked drop in the volume i can get out of them when connected wirelessly. They work perfectly when wired up and also when connected wirelessly to my father's computer however when I connect, while i do get a signal, the maximum volume i can get out is less than that of the maximum on my macbook pro's internal speakers...

I'm using an Envision 17" LCD with a Mac Book Pro, also have an Apple DVI-VGA converter in the mix. I know this monitor works fine with this computer but suddenly, I'm getting no signal.
Power cycling the monitor doesn't work; unplugging/replugging the video cable doesn't work.Â
Rebooting works, but if I try to change the resolution, the monitor stops getting signal. I know the computer "knows" the correct rez, but doesn't always offer it. I suspect a corrupt software component...Â
This monitor/cable works just fine with my 2009 MProÂ

When I connect a display via a Dual-Link adapter (tested original Apple and Dr.Bott) to the external Mini-Displayport of my Macbook Pro 17" 2009 I don't get full 8 bit per channel color depth (or at least it's seriously messed up with heavy banding), neither in native resolution (2560x1600) nor in non-native (1920x1200).Running the same display via the same cable over a passive Single-Link adapter works perfectly well (all 256 shades of grey present).
I tried two different cables (both a Dual-Link and a Single-Link cable, both of which work with the Single-Link adapter). So either both Adapters are bugged the very same, or the 9600M GT does something wrong when a Dual-Link adapter is connected. It could also be a driver issue, but at least the internal display doesn't show any banding when running in Clone mode.Same happens on OS X with both the 9600M and 9400M. So either both adapters ain't working properly or there's something wrong with the combination of NVidia 9x00M and Dual-Link DVI.
And I tested three more single-link displays (1x 1920x1200, 2x 1680x1050) and only one works (the 1920x1200 Viewsonic VP2330), the other two show the same problem with both Mini-Displayport to Dual-Link DVI adapters. Then I tested connecting a current ATI based IMac 21.5" to one of the not working displays (a Samsung) and there worked with both adapters. So it seems that the 9400/9600M in the Macbook Pro output a signal of lower strength (compared to the ATI based Imac), which leads to signal degradation once coupled with a Dual-Link adapter. The reason why the VP2330 works probably is because it can work with weaker signals. That doesn't help me at all with my 30" display though and only 1 working display out of 4 is rather disappointing.
