Dec 31, 2009I posted this on the iTunes section and did not get solutions for my problem. I hooked-up my MacBook Pro to my Sony Bravia HDTV to watch iTune movies and use my computer at the same time (non-mirrored in monitor preferences). iTunes movies play on my HDTV when they are not maximized in iTunes. When I maximize the movie, it reverts back to my MacBook screen and the HDTV screen goes blank. I reviewed all my display preferences and cannot find any options to fix this.
Another question, will HD iTunes movies display properly on a 52" HDTV screen at 1080p? It seems that some of the movies I have played so far seem grainy and jerky at minimized screen (since I can't maximize it). Basically, I want to match the quality of a HD movie DVD. Any experiences with this or am I wasting my time? Shouldn't using a MacBook Pro be like using AppleTV with regard to video quality?

Apr 16, 2012Just got a brand new MacBook Pro 15" a week ago with the standard specs. I have noticed whenever I'm playing a video that's bought or downloaded from iTunes, a pixel on the up-left corner of the screen starts flashing between blue and black like crazy, at first I thought it was a physical defect, but when I stop playing videos the stuck pixel disappears. I ran a number of test and confirmed it wasn't the screen's problem. All the firmwares are up to date by the way.

May 18, 2012I am unable to import TV shows or movies purchased from the iTunes store to the iTunes library on my Mac Book Pro. What I do, is have a main iTunes library on my desktop Mac, where all my purchases get stored. I will then use the Import process via Home Sharing to put them on my MBP for when I'm travelling or away from home. I tried this yesterday and the files were transferred from my desktop to my MBP but are not showing up in iTunes. I have also tried the 'Add to library' and 'drag and drop' method direct from the MBP library location, but still no joy. It would seem that this has only started since the recent OSX 10.7.4 update, but I can't be sure.....I haven't needed to do it for almost two months.

Aug 26, 2010With the new iTunes 9.2.1(5), I seem to have trouble sorting some of my video files. Every video file (converted from .avi to .mp4 with Handbrake, using the "Universal Apple" preset) I throw at iTunes seem to be added to the Movies section. I tried updating the metadata from Get Info, filling out the Video tab with appropriate names, season number, episode number and episode ID. That didn't get anywhere. I tried putting "TV Shows" as a genre but that doesn't do anything either. I even tried making a new folder in the iTunes folder, naming it "TV Shows" and throwing videos in there.

Sep 1, 2014A couple weeks ago, I purchased season 1 of Game of Thrones on the Blu-Ray Digital Combo pack so I could download the TV show onto my iTunes. I was able to download season 1 using the code that came with my DVD and it is on the iTunes on my macbook pro. Today, I purchased season 2 of the show and downloaded it onto the iTunes on my iMAC. My problem: Season 1 of Game of Thrones did not sync so it is not showing up on my iTunes on my iMAC. I use the same email, password, network, AND I have allowed home sharing amongst my apple devices. This has never happened before. How am I able to get my TV shows on both my iMAC and Macbook?

Jul 3, 2012I've just purchased a new macbook air 11.6 in and when watching movies (not in ful screen) the screen dims, Im assuming because of inactivity with keyboard, etc. I don't like to watch all movies in full screen, so how do I change the settings to allow for longer 'inactive' times? Meaning, I don't want the screen to dim after only 5 minutes.

MacBook Pro :: Crashing During Playing Games And Watching Movies
May 8, 2012I have been experiencing crashes while playing games and watching a few movies on my MBpro 15" Mid-2010 i5 Gt330m. It will just lock up all of a sudden and then play a continuous sound loop with a black screen. I then have to force shut it down, hold the power key down the first time-nothing....then try a second time to hold it down to shut it off and then it goes off.
Tried the update recommended by TS4088 and its still doing it. I have 10+ panic reports in the last few weeks. Can't play SC2 for more than 5-10 minutes. Took it to the Apple Store today and they ran a check and of course everything comes up fine. I can get it to crash every time by playing sc2 about 5 minutes in, always on minimum settings.

With the arrival of iOS 5.1 they all show up for downloading or streaming on my iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, but not on either of my Macs (both running the latest version of Lion and iTunes (10.6) (however music downloads or streams just fine to the Macs just fine via icoud). According to this link, movies and TV shows should be available for redownloading to Macs and PCs running iTunes 10.6.
