Nov 18, 2009So my problem is I just got a macbook and I am transferring my files from my pc to my mac. My old sony handycam videos on my mac will not transfer. It says on my mac that "this is not a movie" and cannot be played. I have tried saving a video to a flash drive and doing it that way but no luck. I have figured out how to download videos from my handycam to my mac. I just need help getting my videos from my pc to my mac. Do I need to convert them to a different format? I am getting rid of my pc and am desperate to get these video's off. Also my burner is busted on my pc so I cannot just burn them either

Jun 29, 2007I have been trying to convince my Dad to get an iMac for himself for about 2 years. Right now he uses a 5 and 1/2 year old HP and it is draggin'. Anyways, he finally decided to get a mac (probably b/c he likes my mbp so much ) Well, tonight we realized that his Sony DCR-SR82 60GB Handycam Camcorder is not compatible with a mac. I guess Sony uses "muxed" video which means it is mixed together instead of having seperate video and audio tracks. I have got the run around from a whole bunch of sites and I need help.

My Mac, a desktop from 2006, running OS X 10.4.10, has iMovie HD. I have been trying tirelessly to import footage according to instructions from iMovie help and from the Sony Handycam handbook, but I keep getting a message that says: "iMovie could not import the file because it is not a movie file. Quicktime could not parse the file." The files are .MPG format. I've already tried to format the camera's hard drive (both on the camera and on the computer), but that didn't work...

Dec 31, 2009I posted this on the iTunes section and did not get solutions for my problem. I hooked-up my MacBook Pro to my Sony Bravia HDTV to watch iTune movies and use my computer at the same time (non-mirrored in monitor preferences). iTunes movies play on my HDTV when they are not maximized in iTunes. When I maximize the movie, it reverts back to my MacBook screen and the HDTV screen goes blank. I reviewed all my display preferences and cannot find any options to fix this.
Another question, will HD iTunes movies display properly on a 52" HDTV screen at 1080p? It seems that some of the movies I have played so far seem grainy and jerky at minimized screen (since I can't maximize it). Basically, I want to match the quality of a HD movie DVD. Any experiences with this or am I wasting my time? Shouldn't using a MacBook Pro be like using AppleTV with regard to video quality?

Jun 11, 2012I've been paying for my Mobile Me account and use My Gallery to store movies for business, but now I need to 'move' everything to my iCloud. I have several Apple devices: my Mac [OS 10.7.4], my iPhone and my iPad. All seem to have iCloud on them, but I can't access my movies in iCloud. However, I can still see them in My Gallery, which I presume will 'go away' soon. So I need a place to put them to be able to link customers to them. It takes forever to put one into my 'dropbox' app. I thought they would automatically transition to iCloud? But they don't seem to be doing that?

Dec 3, 2009My brother has told me its simple to switch over itunes library but sure he isnt gonna tell me, he is like that! My iMac desktop is tiger 10.4.11 & i want to transfer my itunes library, including apps/films/tv shows etc to my macbook laptop which is 10.5. I have uploaded most of my pics to mobile me so that they are safe but I have home movies also & want to secure them. I was gonna upgrade the imac tiger to snow leopard as Im probably getting a time capsule as a gift & would need to be 10.5 or higher to use it I believe but i decided against that. I will just use the desktop for general browsing etc & not keep anything of sentimental value on it.
