Applications :: Word 2008 Ignore/ignore All Spell Check?

Nov 17, 2009

When I am running spellcheck, sometimes I need to click on "ignore" and sometimes on "ignore all". If I click on "ignore" the first time and then move on to the second queried word "ignore" doesn't work. I have to click on "ignore all". Then the third time "ignore all" doesn't work and then I click on "ignore". So basically I have to alternate between the two options all of the time.

Power Mac G5 :: Overheating In Idle Mode - Fans Blow Harder

Nov 6, 2007

I have a G5 dual 2gig and in idle mode it seems to a be slightly overheating as my fans start to blow harder and I get my mouse sticking I am running the latest version of Tiger with 3.5gigs of ram I did post in the IDvD, Logic Pro, and the Final cut pro forums the impact of an upgrade of 8gig of ram on my system whether my apps would run better and the system as a whole.

But I have not been able to get any feed back on this that was clear and I was asked to try here on this forum so here I am. I deeply love my G5 and what it can do I am just wondering if it is working at its most optimum I do regularly do my house keeping i.e. repairing permission and occasionally using Tech tool Pro to look over the system but nothing out of the ordinary jumps out. I have a screen shot of my activity monitor and cpu monitor but I do not know how to attach it.

Information:

Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Running 10.6 fully updated and installed from scratch.I have been getting out of the blue crashes while the system is most of the times idle. Can it be the RAM? This is the log from the last crash which happened a little ago.

Software :: System Not Exiting Sleep Mode / Kicks Back Into Sleep Mode

Dec 29, 2009

As of last night, my MBP started acting very strangely. After entering my username and password, it would enter the desktop for a short period of time and then kick back into sleep mode; the screen would turn back to black. Sometimes it will let me stay on the desktop for a long time and other times it will hardly let me stay on the desktop. I called apple support and they had me start the computer in safe mode; even then it occasionally kicks me out.

The tech guy said that it was a "strange software issue" and not a hardware issue. I thought it was a hard drive issue; my hard drive makes an odd sound when it unlocks (a grinding sound), but it has been doing that for quite some time with no issues. I tried to reset the SMC and it didn't do anything.

How should I remedy this problem? Is this a hard drive issue? Hard drive failure? Has the grinding sound finally caught up with me? I am running OS X; not leopard or snow leopard. I know I need to upgrade, but this shouldn't be happening.

MacBook Pro :: 64 Bit Mode By Default On System?

Oct 20, 2010

I reformatted my MBP a few days ago (yes, I'm crazy), and now when I decided to install Photoshop CS5 Extended, it did not bring the option of a 64-bit version, meaning my MBP is now running only on 32-bit mode. But I remember that when I installed it before, it did. So obviously I was running 64-bit mode. Did yours come by default with 64-bit mode? Should I go ahead and change it back to 64-bit mode?

MacBook :: System Not Go To Sleep Mode Immediately

Dec 11, 2009

My MacBook does not sleep immediately, I have already tried removing safe sleep and it gives me no effect. It is not a hardware problem as my Windows Vista on the Machine sleeps just how I would like it. For info, the Hard Drive that is in it (320GB WD Scorpio Black) was used in an EFI Hackintosh install for my MSI Wind (but EFI installs do not modify the main operating system so I do not know what the heck is causing this)? By the way, the MacBook is custom, made by me. I built it out of three dead MacBooks.

One Black Core duo which was stepped on and had a broken screen and hinges which gave me:
Only working Logic board of the Pack (2.0GHZ Core Duo) I paid 140$ for this one
2 512MB sticks (Removed one and added a 1GB Stick, yes I know matched pairs, gonna find another 1GB soon)
Bottom case.
Top lid
Half the keys for the keyboard.

The Second MacBook Free:
2.0GHZ Core Duo white gave me with coffee spilled on it
Top case with trackpad, and half of the keys
Bezel
Hinges
Screen
other screws etc.
Fan (The one inside was going clack clack clack)

One 2.2GHZ Core 2 Duo which a dog peed on, Free for getting data off of:
DVD-R Drive one that was in it wouldn't eject
Sleep Light, the one that was there originally was borked and did not light, and IR did not work. Now it does
alternative screen with no pressure marks like the one I have now but one noticeable 1/2 inch scratch.
Various screws.

I am yet to finish it. I am still prototyping the new top screen assembly using the Black lid, a red apple, and the screen with a scratch on it, and the bezel from the 2.2GHZ which is really beat up. The current top assembly is straight from the 2.0GHZ White. Here's a pic of it in it's current state.

OS X :: Little Checkbox Said Ignore Permissions

Aug 4, 2009

I had a folder (called "Other") with read and write access for Joseph (Me), everyone, (unknown), and Joseph (Me, again), but for some reason I couldn't write to the folder - I only had read access even though three forms of me had read and write. I tried changing the permissions of the parent folder to read and write (which they already were for everyone, but I added my account too for the hell of it) and then applying it to the enclosed items, but that just added "wheel" to the Repairing permissions did nothing, I ended up just setting my entire Macintosh HD to read and write for everyone and a few other people, then applying to enclosed items. That worked, but then for some reason it changed my external hard drive's permissions to "Custom" for Me, Me, unknown, and everyone. I can't access my external at all now, and nothing happens when I try to change its permissions. There was a little checkbox that said "Ignore permissions"

This seems a little low considering the regular macbooks only come with 2gb how could they even run snow leopard? Am I missing something about reading the activity monitor or is there something I can do to free up more ram or is this just normal?

Whenever I turn my computer on, it makes the start up sound and acts like the screen will turn on, then it goes black. I can't get it to come out of sleep unless it goes idle. It's like the roles have reversed. The screen turns on when idle, but as soon as I move the mouse or touch a button, it goes black again. It's plugged in, and even if the battery is dead, it always runs when it's plugged in. Also, on the battery bar, it's stuck at 00:26.

MacBook :: Static / Noise On When Idle

This has been driving me nuts for a few months now. My macbook keeps emitting a sound very much like static. Only today, I realized that this sound goes away when the processor is working. So if I scroll down in Safari, open a New Folder, etc, the sound briefly pauses before resuming again. Almost sounds like a refrigerator. It bugs me a lot lot. Anybody else having this issue? Or has Apple been able to fix this for anyone?
