MacBook :: Suddenly Could Not Edit Modem Settings

Am using macbook aluminum 2gb ram,2ghz,core 2 duo with leopard 10 5.8,I use to connect my phone nokia e63 with Bluetooth and use it as modem to brows on my laptop. But it suddenly stop working, like when use the process of setting up a Bluetooth device and when it get to the point of editing APN or adding IP address it will not allow me like before.I?v different phones (like sony ericson)every other brand still work except nokia phones which use to work perfectly well before, am confuse cos I don?t wanna format my system.i,v been doing this for long now,I strongly believe it could be a sign of virus infection?

I'm using the Assistant to try to add a USB modem to my network settings. However, the option for "I use a telephone modem to dial my ISP" can't be selected. (please see attached screen grab). I've tried this under Tiger (10.4), Leopard (10.5) and, Snow Leopard (10.6). No luck in any of the last three Mac OS's.

OK, so after several hours of swearing and cursing, i have my new airport extreme sitting behind my dsl modem now working and connected to the internet.
With my older linksys router, I had the dsl modem set to 'bridge' PPP location mode. That didn't work with the airport extreme it seems and nor did having the PPP on the modem. So, i selected 'PPP on the computer' PPP location mode and that seemed to do the trick.
So, question is -
- why doesn't 'bridge' mode work with the apple extreme? does it, and i'm not doing it right?
- is 'ppp on the computer' ok and any reason to not want this - any degradation in network performance etc?

Just downloaded Lion, now the Airport wireless router keeps dropping the cable modem settings so I can't access the network, internet or WiFi. I have to repeatedly go back into System Preferences, Network, Assist Me, Network Diagnostics, choose the network port config, select WiFi, select my network and it restores all network settings and says "Internet connection appears to working correctly." This problem apparently happens whenever the computer goes to standby/sleep.

I need to change the color and brightness for a video file for a presentation and cannot figure out how to change them permanently when I open the video file in Powerpoint. When I open a video which I have altered the AV settings on in another program, the settings revert to the initial settings. Can I edit the color and brightness settings permanently in Quicktime 7?

Suddenly Mail has stopped sending emails. Connection Doctor says server is 'offline' and I should ensure passwords and settings are correct. But I changed NOTHING - it just suddenly stopped sending and receiving!
I'm using a late 2012 iMac and a Retina MacBook Pro, both with very latest OS - same problem on both. I've restarted my TimeCapsule and BT HomeHub

Is there any sort of "bridge" software that allows a terminal emulation program, say, Z-Term, to use Skype as a modem? It seems silly to pay for connections to BBS's when I've got SkypeOut, but I haven't been able to find a way to do this.

I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner

I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

i managed to get on the at&t all you can eat $29 data plan for ipad, but no longer have the ipad (gave it away, was not using it enough). however, i kept the sim.
i'm thinking of putting the microsim in a modem and using it in my mbp... however, i was hoping to get some recommendations. any one using one in the SD slot or a general USB one (the SD slot is why i posted this in the MBP forum, mods!).
realize the software is not built in, so that would be a pretty key requirement. i hate the idea of os 10.7 coming out and having to wait six months for drivers

today i'm setting off on an ambitious undertaking, building a wireless 3g modem (on the at&t network of course) that would fit into the MacBook airport card slot and act in place of it, therein giving me 3g internet signal anywhere i go. Only problem is, i have no idea how to do this, i was hoping you guys might be able to help

Just got one of the new white macbooks - it's great so far. Most of the important things I have figured out, but unable to get my 3 USB Modem working - it just sits there and flashes at me. got my mbp 15 i5 last week, ive been testing my battery, already recalibrated and all that.. i get 8+ hours on full charge on idle.. pretty average on normal use, around 5-6 hours. anyways so while i was testing my battery, i decided to unplug my usb broadband modem to see how much battery it's draining from my laptop. but to my surprise my battery life went down from approximately 3 hours left, to 2 and half ! i even waited 5 minutes so it can properly calculate it, but it didnt increase. so my question is wuzzup widat?! shouldnt it be the other way around? i was planning on canceling my wireless broadband contract when it expires and just wirelessly tether my newly jailbroken iphone via mywi for internet access, but its seems like wifi is a minus on the battery, but usb modems are actually a plus.

I have a G5 Duel 2GHz Power PC, Recently I was losing the time, date and wireless settings so I assumed as my machine is now 4 years old the PRAM battery was up for renewal.This has now been replaced but I'm still losing my settings, not all the time but randomly, sometimes I lose my wireless key sometimes I lose time and date sometimes both, this can happen daily.
I have removed the (New) Battery and checked the voltage and it reads 3.6 Volts, I haven't checked this under load though, so presuming that the battery is OK, what else could cause this.. a failing System Board?

I am trying to connect my apple macbook air and devices to my new camera wirelessly, and I am asked... "After the network name (SSID) that an be used for the smart device is displayed, select the SSID displayed on the camera" I don'e seem to be able to find this, or I am just not getting it. I want to buy one, but I am not sure if it's abilities are limited. I know if I go with the MBP then I can for sure but if I can just do what I need with the regular MB I wanna do that. I wanna be able to video edit movies that I make. Generally 1-2 hours in length. I don't really need to be able to do special effects or whatever. What specs would be good for this? Also, I have never owned a Mac before. What software should I buy with it in order to do this?
